Glee star Amber Riley visited the Ellen Degeneres show to promote her upcoming stint dancing with Derek Hough on Dancing with the Stars.
She spent a few moments of the interview opening up about filming the emotional Glee tribute episode, “The Quarterback,” devoted to saying goodbye to her late co-star, Cory Monteith and Finn Hudson, the character he played.
“It was [heavy] in a way,” Amber said. ”It was very therapeutic for us because we got to sing, you know and kind of express to him the songs we were doing, how we felt about him, and Ryan, Brad and Ian did such an excellent job writing the script.”
She admits she broke down recording her solo for the episode.
“Singing the song to him, the specific song I sing, it’s very touching,” she said. “People are going to recognize the song when they hear it. But we also were laughing, you know, reminiscing, watching old videos of Cory dancing, and our first time in New York on a private plan and how goofy we were. It was times of laughter, also.”
The song Amber is rumored to be singing is “I’ll Stand By You” by the Pretenders. It’s a song Finn sang after he learned Quinn was pregnant with what he believed was his baby. Remember the shot of Finn singing to the sonogram?
