  1. Somehow I knew she was into Lauryn Hill. No wonder I dig this girl so much. Killing me Softly was a pivotal point in the 90s for the award winning Lauryn Hill.

Man I can’t believe I fell for Scars. Ive turned weak …

  2. OK – Allison’s cuteness rating has now been elevated from kinda cute, then cute, and then major cute, and now – absolutely adorable.

So, I’ve made the decision – I want her to marry my 21-year-old son (who of course knows nothing about this).

We do still have arranged marriages in this country, don’t we?

BTW – Scars was absolutely fantastic.

ETA – At first I misread the radio station call letters as WIPE, which would have explained the connection to toilet twittering.

  3. I wish i could see her live! Allí when aré you coming to houstooooooooon?

  4. This is just…she’s just freaking amazing. She’s so talented, and she’s so real. Scars…gah. Dead skin, 10 dollars, LOL. I’m a Kris fan first, Allison and Adam very close second, and I know people have said this before and will say it in the future, but these three really did break Idol for me. They’re all so very talented and sweet and deserving. I’ve watched idol every year, and I really can’t even think about it this year. No one can beat last year’s top three in my mind. Sorry season 9.

  5. best.interview.ever!! haha, she’s hilarious and I really really liked this performance of Scars. It sounded like perfection!

  6. Who doesn’t toilet tweet? It’s the future! People used to read books and magazines in the bathroom, now they read twitter in the bathroom ;)

Can she be any more hilarious? jordison, go for it. Your 21 year old should know about her already if he doesn’t, heh.

Oh, and her hair is adorable here. Much better than the dreads

    The dreads are there.

  7. I loved that she didn’t bite on the “soldier watching a war movie” analogy. No way is Allison going to say “yes” if she doesn’t agree.

A girl with her own mind.

    True to herself.

Yah, I shoved a copy (purchased, of course) of the CD in his hand when he was home for the holidays, although he usually just does iTunes downloads. He admitted that he had already been listening to it in my car, and liked it, even though he isn’t that much into pop, but more into hip hop, etc.

  9. The dreads are there.

Really? Sometimes I feel so internet stupid.

  10. Really? Sometimes I feel so internet stupid.

Don’t feel stupid, they’re just hard to see. The dreads are hanging from her little pony tails.

  11. Im soooo adicted to Allison, Im 27 and in all those years had never got obsessed with an album like I am with “just like you”…. She needs to go on tuor soon!

  12. Very funny interview. She is really letting go lately. Going back to earlier interviews, you could see the filters working in her head, which made for awkward exchanges. Now, either she internalized the filters, or threw them out the window.

  13. vERY NICE VOLUME CONTROL! oops. on perhaps Alli’s best rendition yet of Scars. Seems Alli cut her over all volume WAY down, yet maintained or even improved emotes. This tells me she is handling her nerves much better. She really needs to be in full command of voccals befroe touring.

  14. Beautiful version of Scars.

Also, woah, is it just me or does Allison look especially pretty in that picture above?

  15. Scars!
Wow, I loved that tender raw but controled acoustic version.
    Just Freaking Stellar.
I just adore this talented girl and her extraordinary talent!!

  16. People used to read books and magazines in the bathroom, now they read twitter in the bathroom

Funny, Kellie Pickler tweeted a couple of months ago that she dropped her cell phone in the toilet *again* – I don’t know how many times she’s done it. LOL

  17. Wow! Scars is really good here.

She really needs to be in full command of vocals before touring.

I think she has always been in control of her vocals. She might be trying different phrasings/interpretations to see what works best. But that is different form not being in control of her vocals, which I associate with singing out of tune/being pitchy/all over the place (which she hasn’t been).

Also, woah, is it just me or does Allison look especially pretty in that picture above?

She has always been pretty, but in a teenage cutsy kind-of way. She is looking more like a woman lately, which for me (for you) matches her music better. Maybe when her look/age catches up to her music, more people will take notice.

  18. Allison is simply amazing. It’s always a high pleasure to listen her live performances. It’s a shame that she hasn’t received all the credit she deserves, her album is fantastic and of course there is so much more potential on her. GO ALLISON!

She’s getting prettier by the day.

For anyone who says and thinks Allison isn’t articulate enough or is immature (I was just at the Kradison interview thread) here is an informal interview from her visit to a radio station in Jacksonville yesterday. She gives some really good answers about several things.

    Part 1
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u_xsnieb7E

    Part 2
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRZEtu6eTng

Not only is she getting prettier every day, but her maturity growth and communication skills have improved incredibly in less than a year.

  20. Scars needs to be the next single pronto. It’ll blow up the charts.

It’s apparently being considered, so it’s a likely possibility. It’s a good song to show off her sensitive, emotional side as well as her vocal chops. I don’t know how interested Top40 radio is in songs with actual singing involved but it’s a great song to show the world what Allison can do with that magnificent voice.

Not only is she getting prettier every day, but her maturity growth and communication skills have improved incredibly in less than a year.

I was most impressed with her answer about how this is her personal life now and this is the career she chose and she wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. She’s definitely grounded and very dedicated.

  21. Y100 is having her on(Allison) soon and Ive been trying to tune in for any announcements this past week, and guess what? Nothing!
Y100 is the worst though. They don’t play anything unless the other top stations like Z100 in NY and KIIS in LA are spinning it for a while. Even though they’re ranked 12th in the nation(3-4th rank in Miami) don’t have the guts to spin something new. I never listen to them – too much Gaga, Swift.

Hopefully WSVN -Idol-crazy-Louis Aguirre- Channel 7 interviews her at some point today for the show, since his favorites were Adam & Allison. Miami Herald’s Howard Cohen who almost gave Allison the trophy on his Idol tour review(or maybe he did) hopefully interviews her for a piece on the paper.
Something is cooking though, I feel it in the air. I’ve email a few people to see whats up.
ALso, and this is a big one, the spanish award show “El Premio Lo Nuestro” is tomorrow night at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. Could Allison and her band be playing??????????????????

I can’t believe she’s down here enjoying the 64 degree weather.
Anybody know her schedule after today?

  22. I have an old friend who works at the spanish network Univision, but Im not gonna call her now, though Im tempted. lol

  23. Please call her! I’ve seen tweets of her band members saying they’re traveling to Florida but I don’t know what for. Zoux tweeted yesterday that he was off for FLA and Dave Immerman twitted Valerie “see you in Miami”. Dave and Allison are obviously already in Miami, so what the heck are they doing in Miami???? I’m so curious.

  24. Damn! I’m going to be traveling tomorrow and won’t be able to get to a computer every 5 minutes, like “normal.” And no, I don’t have an iphone or blackberry, or even a laptop. Hopefully the hotel computer will be available.

So, if you guys don’t hear from me Thurs – Sat, don’t assume I’ve lost interest.

  25. cool good to know jordison. have a good time

I’ve got a couple replies from wsvn and H.Cohen, apparently they didn’t know she was here.

I can’t believe Im doing all this.. man

  26. jordison – you might have the same problem I had when I was away. I could see everything on the site (obviously), but it wouldn’t let me log in. I put in my name and password, but I didn’t get the comment box. You might have to be on your home computer to get in.

Re Miami: Why is everything always a secret? You would think she would advertise her appearances before them rather than after.

I hope you figure it out Rub!

  27. This probably belongs in the Rock My World Video thread, but I don’t know if anyone is checking it anymore:

LDR brought up the point that perhaps Allison was running out of air during the set. He said he noticed it during Holiday. I’m not sure I picked it up there, but she seemed to be out of breath between songs, and probably could have used a little breather. Sometimes the chatter in between songs helps with that, and she seemed to use it.

If the band is going to do a set in Miami, the same problem might occur (if there is a problem – and the set is long enough).

I’ve been thinking about this – when a singer goes “full throttle” in a rock band, there are usually some instrumental runs here and there for breath recovery. Even Janis Joplin, with Big Brother, had lots of points where she would dance around while the band played.

Allison’s numbers have very little of that. They added a short guitar solo (like the AOL Session) at the end of DWTP, but this was the first song. And, it’s so short it probably would not have helped much even if it were later in the set. I think this instrumental piece could very easily be expanded by the band, and, if it were in the middle of the set, it could give Allison a much needed break.

I’m not sure which other of Allison’s numbers would lend themselves to “jamming,” or whatever, but it would sure help Allison out. But, this is a nice problem to have when her sets are long enough to tire her out.

Again, maybe we’ve just created a problem that doesn’t really exist. But then, what are these blogs for, anyway?

  28. Title of a new song:

“Don’t Twitter in the Shitter” by Krad Gokison.

His name is Gokison, Krad Gokison.

  29. alli lurker:
    02/17/2010 at 7:45 pm

    Gokison???

Yes, the artist formerly known as Prince (of Bulgaria).

See the Kradison interview thread for more on this.

alli lurker: (Please don’t ask me to explain the Prince of Bulgaria joke!) :)

  30. Here’s a news item from Allison’s website!

    FEBRUARY 16, 2010, 7:02 pm

Tomorrow morning (4:45 am, 6:40 am, and 8:40 am EST), MTV will be broadcasting behind the scene’s footage from the Idol Rock My Town concert featuring Allison, Kris and Adam. Wake up early and tune in!

Wait a minute – today is February 17.

  31. LDR brought up the point that perhaps Allison was running out of air during the set. He said he noticed it during Holiday. I’m not sure I picked it up there, but she seemed to be out of breath between songs, and probably could have used a little breather.

I noted the times in that thread in which I thought she sounded winded in Holiday.
One of her greatest strengths may be a weakness: putting so much physicality on each song. Rearranging her songs to have breathers in between would be smart. Maybe longer guitar solos, as jordison points out.

  32. I didn’t notice breathing issues in Holiday but did in Robot Love a little bit. I do wish she’d play the guitar during Holiday, that song sounds harder with two guitars instead of the keyboard taking over for some of the guitar sounds.

  33. Gotta keep an Allison thread going! :)

The choice between Scars and Don’t Waste the Pretty for the next single is a tough one. They’re both great songs. Despite what I’ve said about Scars in the past (mostly about the chorus) I think it might be the better choice. Its the most heartfelt and its already successful without any promotion. Also, the problems I have with the chorus aren’t apparent when she sings it live.

I still hope You Don’t Know Me and D is for Dangerous become singles, too. I think they’re both winners.

  34. To me every song in the album is a winner and could potentially be a single. They all have something special about them. I LOVE D is for dangerous, it’s such an incredibly sexy song.

  35. From Scars and DWTP, I am leaning towards Scars.
TI and D should be the next two.
I wish they would fix Alli’s website. With the new season, I imagine there will be less Allison posts here.
PRMari, I translated TI. I am not a songwriter by any means, but thought is would be fun. Maybe you can improve it. Wanna see it?

  36. To me every song in the album is a winner and could potentially be a single.

Its true! Its hard to pick. Pieces is a great song, too. That one could be a single. And Still Breathing. Definitely TI. BMU could have been a huge hit if the lyrics were different.

  37. I think Beat me up can still be huge, regardless or maybe because of the lyrics. I think Pieces has hit potential and so does You don’t know me, and Just like you, and D is for dangerous and No One else, hell! All of them!

    P

RMari, I translated TI. I am not a songwriter by any means, but thought is would be fun. Maybe you can improve it. Wanna see it?

YES! I’d love to see it.
