Alex Lambert Gets Another Shot: He Moves into the If I Can Dream House

via People magazine:

Alex Lambert gets another chance at the big time! On Thursday, he moves into the If I Can Dream house, where he’ll be filmed 24/7 by cameras as he tries to make a go of a singing career in LA:

This Thursday the Texas shy guy will get another shot at stardom when he moves in to the If I Can Dream house. Created by Idol’s Simon Fuller, If I Can Dream is a Web reality show documenting the story of six rising stars living together in the Hollywood Hills. The other residents include Miley Cyrus’s ex Justin Gaston, aspiring model Giglianne Braga, and actors Kara Killmer, Amanda Phillips, and Ben Elliott.

You can watch Lambert, 19, on If I Can Dream’s live streaming 24-7 along with five other up-and-comers as they tackle Hollywood. Weekly episodes will air on hulu.com every Monday at midnight.

People’s Jessica Herndon caught up with Lambert to chat about Elvis, Lambert’s girlfriend, and (gasp!) cutting that mullet.

Alex cut his hair, but he swears he’s still got “a little mullet” (Make sure to read the interview!)

The times I tried to watch If I Can Dream–when David Cook, Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert appeared–I found it totally unwatchable. Watching these kids skulk around their luxury home, having dull conversations is no way to attract an audience.

I bet whatever audience IICD has at this point isn’t invested at all, hence Fuller inviting artists from Idol, like Alex, who already have an invested fanbase. He’s the first Idol ringer, but I’ll bet Alex won’t be the last…

But it’s all good–the show may suck, but the situation offers Alex opportunities he wouldn’t have otherwise.  He gets to live in LA for free, and make contacts in the recording industry with the help of 19.  That sure beats going to high school and hanging out with his mother in Texas…
