  1. Wow, these are great! Atl City is about as close to a sellout as one can get without being Sold Out!
And the figures on those 2 Newark shows and Long Island shows, when they did 2 nights eachn are fantastic!
Idol has to be very pleased!

  2. Did every venue in the US have only two price points? I know we had three ticket prices in Hamilton.

  4. Wow, 2 million out of NJ. I guess we love us some idols here in the Garden State!

  5. Really impressive stats! Particularly considering the weak sales of concert tickets this summer. And sales of the upcoming concerts look good, too base on what Ticketmaster/Comcast Tickets is now selling. Portland ME is sold out. A few others are close.

  6. So far, Season 8 surpassed Season 7 as far as revenue. I’m just guessing that when they hit the midwest, they will fall behind Season 7. I think Cook was a big draw in the midwest (I’m just anticipating).

That is remarkable considering the horrible economy.

  7. Q3 — do you know whether Portland, ME is “really” sold out or whether they are holding back some good seats to release closer to the concert date? My mom wanted to take my nieces but it supposedly sold out really quickly. I told her to keep trying and she could probably get tix closer to the show. The arena in Portland is one of the smaller big arenas (or at least that is what I remember from my high school cheerleading days a looonnnngggg time ago.)

Thank you. Yes, in Hamilton our ticket prices were C$81, $71 and $47. [Or something: like that I can’ really remember.]

Were there only two price points in all the US locations?
    Just wonering!

But Gokey and Matt are both from the midwest. It might depend on the size of the venues they are using there. Plus the midwest has been hit particularly hard by the economy.

  10. Thank you. Yes, in Hamilton our ticket prices were C$81, $71 and $47. [Or something: like that I can’ really remember.]

Were there only two price points in all the US locations?
    Just wonering!

I think they may be just listing the highest and lowest price. I know my two venues had 3 price points as well. It was in the middle, $55.

  11. Did you guys read the article Perez wrote about this the other day? Yes I know, it was still Perez, but it seems like, for the current gig average, these numbers are very, very high.

Not even U2 has sold out their USA tour, 8 years ago they would be sold in a matter of 2 hours!

I’m really glad for the idols, all of them, they deserve to enjoy this moment, things like this should very motivational.

  12. Wow. This is awesome. I mean, we all know the reason for the big selling tour, right? adamcoughadam. I haven’t been inspired enough to go since season4, and this year was an absolute must for me. It ALL depends on the contestants if you ask me.

  13. Yep. People are still willing to shell out the bucks for the Idols. It’s why I keep saying that the predictions of AI’s imminent demise are pretty silly. The show is still a huge cash cow for everyone involved.

  14. I live in the midwest (ST. Louis) and I think, since Arkansas only had one show that sold out in hours, people might travel here to see Kris. The Cardinal baseball team has a series in town that weekend of the Idol concert, and a lot of people from Arkansas follow the Cardinals and I can see them making a weekend of it taken in a baseball game and the concert.

Some time back I read some statistics that said Adam was the most googled Idol followed by Carrie Underwood and that, surprisingly, the midwest googled him the most. So I think there is a lot of interest here for Adam and the other Idols and the Tour will probably do well in the midwest.

  15. Wow. This is awesome. I mean, we all know the reason for the big selling tour, right? adamcoughadam. I haven’t been inspired enough to go since season4, and this year was an absolute must for me. It ALL depends on the contestants if you ask me.

I agree with this. Never, never, never would have gone to one of these concerts had it not been for adamcoughadamwheezeadam.

  16. I really think that the stats for this tour would have ranked with season 3 or 6 if Adam wasn’t on the tour. Adam is the big draw for this tour it is obvious through the reactions of the crowd in each venue.

  17. If Adam wasn’t there those stats would look more like Season 6’s I guarantee that, which makes Season 7’s more impressive to me. :)

  18. Well, I can testify that I’ve never attended an AI concert until this year, and it was only because of Adam. It was great, by the way!

  19. Lol you guys are saying it wrong, it’s “cough” (insert word here) “cough”. Don’t ask why I found it so necessary to point that out.

So this season is actually doing BETTER than last season!? And iirc S7’s stats were already one of the more impressive ones overall, correct? Not to mention the recession causing anticipation of slow sales. Damn, I’m glad I got into the show this year. Is it really just because of Adam, or do the other Idols have more appeal than past finalists as well? I’m genuinely curious.

  20. Summary of First 27 Concerts: 262,035 of 312,004 (84%): Total Revenue: 16,246,787 : Avg Revenue: $601,733

    Season 7: Summary (27 concerts): 264,874 of 307,561 (86%) Total Revenue: $16,068,630
    Avg Revenue: $595,134

As Kirsten’s data show, Season 7 actually had a better turnout, 86% compared to Season 8’s 84%. So the higher revenue for Season 8 is due to higher ticket prices.

  21. Aren’t ticket prices higher for Season 8? To clarify, I’m not trying to fanwar (seasonwar?!) here, although Season 7 is my Fave Season Evah. It’s great that Season 8 is doing so well in this crappy economic climate, and I definitely think Adam-Kris-Allison-Anoop are the draws (of course, only my faves are the draws LOL). I just thought I read that in the previous tour stats posts here. If the tix prices are the same/lower, then that is impressive.

  22. I have never voted(as many times I was able), gone to a concert(went to Balto and GMA NY and possibly more) or purchased an I Tune (have them all ) prior to Adam. I intend to spend much more on better tickets for his solo tour. I strongly disagree with WashPD, Adam has made AI irrelevant, and the loss of Paula the final deathnell. No one can top this guy , and I am sure most of America realizes that albeit , too late. I have started to notice that when you say ADAM everyone knows who that is, no last name needed, that is the best compliment any one in the business can get. We were only about 8 feet away from the stage at GMA and these guys were there for two hours for sound checks , practice etc . Adam was tired I am sure, but he was just so professional , kind, and gracious with his also sleep deprived audience. We were up for close to 36 hours between travel and waiting in line. This guy is the real deal , whole package, and Paula is the one who got it right from the start. ICONIC!!!!
