Winner of Pilipinas Got Talent in 2011, Marcelito Pomoy is known for his ability to sing in both tenor and soprano, switching from one to the other. In essence, he duets with himself! In 2018, he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and received a standing ovation for his rendition of “Beauty and the Beast.”
Two years later, Marcelito performs the beloved Disney tune again for judges Howie Mandel, Alesha Dixon, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell in the America’s Got Talent: The Champions final,.
Heidi insists that Marcelito’s “trick” never gets old. “When those voices are all coming out…it is just incredible over and over again,” she says. Howie wondered initially if Marcelito’s dual voices were a gimmick, but he also continues to enjoy his performances. “You continue to make the right choices,” Howie says. Alesha calls the song choice “perfect.” She says, “I actually think you’ve upped your game from the last time.” Simon calls Marcelito a “very nice, very talented guy.” He adds, “This was even better than the last performance you did.” However, Simon calls the song choice predictable. Alesha disagrees. But will the Superfans vote him through?
America’s Got Talent: The Champions final performance episode, featuring the Top 10 finalists, airs tonight (Feb 10) on NBC at 8 pm ET/PT.
