After a run on America’s Got Talent this past summer, singer Aubrey Burchell finds herself back at the North Huntington, Pennsylvania Target where she worked before appearing on television. While judge Simon Cowell declared after one of her performances, “We are just witnessing somebody’s career about to skyrocket,” the singer is back to spending 40 hours a week as a personal shopper.

Aubrey returned to her Target job, but she’s hoping not for long

However, Aubrey doesn’t plan to stay at Target forever.

“My goal is to have this be the last Christmas that I spend at Target,” she told the Tribune in a lengthy piece.

But it isn’t all just big box stores for the singer. Aside from her day job, she recently appeared in the role of Rusty in a production of Footloose at the Geyer Performing Arts Center in Scottdale with the Actors and Artists of Fayette Country group. The venue seats about 300, according to the Trib.

“I know this may sound a little silly, but I was just as excited for ‘Footloose’ as I was for ‘AGT,’” she said. The Footloose gig was booked before her America’s Got Talent stint. Aubrey learned the songs and choreography before heading to California. She auditioned for Footless to try and confront her performance anxiety. But then she got a MUCH bigger venue in which to work on her problem.

“It feels good to have defied my personal fear,” she told the Trib after her run on the show ended in September. “Something I think that often slides under the radar is how much mental work goes into putting on a performance, on top of the work you do for your vocals.

“You can sing and sing all you want, but if you aren’t in the right head space — at least in my personal experience — that’s what tends to make or break a performance.”

Aubrey hints she may have something big in the works

Meanwhile, Aubrey will play a local gig on November 11 at the Corner Tavern in North Huntingdon. “I feel like we can pack the place, and I hope people will be excited because it might be one of my last local things,” she said.

She’s teaching voice lessons, writing songs and and working with a booking agent. She hinted to the Trib that that there might be “something big in the works” that she can announce soon.

Aubrey’s AGT audition of The Weeknd’s “Call Out My Name” has over 8 million views. During her intro, Aubrey shared that she is a recently diagnosed level 1 autistic who struggled most of her life.

“I feel a lot more comfortable being on stage and performing than I would be sitting down and having a conversation with somebody,” she told the Trib. “I’d say autistic people tend to have obvious and stark differences in strengths and weaknesses. Singing and performing is what I would call my special interest and my strength.”

The 21 year old singer performed “”Loved You” by KIRBY for her Qualifiers performance. She didn’t advance to the finals.

A studio version of her “Call Out My Name” cover is available everywhere now,
