America’s Got Talent 2010 Winner Michael Grimm sedated and hospitalized after mystery illness

America’s Got Talent 2010 winner, Michael Grimm has been hospitalized with a mystery illness. He’s been sedated for over a week as doctors attempt to diagnose his issues.

His wife, Lucie Zolcerova-Grimm shared the details of Michael’s health on a June 6 Facebook video. He was on a ventilator until just recently. He’s still sedated, but in stable condition.

She said the 44-year-old singer was “struggling with his health” a lot in the past couple months and was lacking energy. After cancelling some shows due to his poor health she took him to the emergency room. But the doctors could not figure out what was wrong.

“On Memorial Day, it kind of took him over,” Lucie said. “He was looking increasingly sickly.” Michael wasn’t able to respond to her right away, walk well or lift his head, so she “rushed him” to the ER. “He started talking gibberish,” she recalled, adding that physical tremors were setting in.

“For the safety of his health, they had to put him on a ventilator”

“For the safety of his health, they had to put him on a ventilator and sedate him pretty heavily, so that he wouldn’t stroke out, so he wouldn’t flatline.” The doctors ruled out a stroke, but have yet to diagnose what’s wrong.

“The good news is the doctors were finally able to remove the ventilator today,” Lucie shared. “He is breathing on his own, so he’s doing good… They do still have him sedated, so that he doesn’t seize or flatline from the fluctuating blood pressure.”

Lucie, who was very emotional as she recounted the past week said that Michael may not like her sharing about his health because he’s a private person. But because the next two months of shows, at least, will need to be canceled, she felt compelled to let fans know what was going on.

Once Michael is brought out of sedation he’ll need physical therapy and vocal cord repair, but he is improving

Once Michael is brought out of sedation, he’ll need physical therapy and vocal cord repair after being bed ridden with a tube down his nasal passageway for a week.

“It’s a day-by-day process,” she added. “He is improving, so that is good. It’s just taking time.”

Most recently, Michael competed on AGT: The Champions season 2 in 2020.
