Christina Grimmie’s The Voice coach, Adam Levine, called her parents personally and offered to pay for the funeral, reveals the late singer’s brother Marcus in a new Facebook post. “I found out this morning, that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight,” he wrote, “I was blown away.”
Christina was shot dead by a gunman Friday night in Orlando, Florida while signing autographs after a concert performance at Plaza Live. After the gunman started shooting, Marcus tackled him to the ground, after which the suspect shot and killed himself.
The Grimmie family may not need to take Adam up on his generous offer at all, as the GoFundMe page Christina’s manager, Brian Teefey set up on the family’s behalf has raised over $160,000 after only two days of donations.
Marcus writes that Teefey set up the site to help the family move out of their current house and to take care of the funeral. “Please do not feel the need to donate anything at all. Please,” writes Marcus, “Just leave a kind word, message or picture in the comments or message me and sign this change.org petition to help Christina…be remembered in the next legend of Zelda game, her favorite game of all time.”
This evening, Christina’s New Jersey hometown will hold a candlelight vigil in her honor. The vigil will be held in Evesham at 8:45 p.m. at the township’s Memorial Complex, 1004 Tuckerton Road.
