When Ross King spoke with Adam Lambert in Los Angeles for the UK chat show, Daybreak, they talked a lot about his guest starring role as Elliot Gilbert/Starchild on Glee.
The interview is a little dated, having been conducted before Adam’s debut episode, “A Katy or a Gaga” aired, but his comments on the experience are timeless.
It’s Adam’s love of the glam rock era in the 70’s, which included British artists like David Bowie and Queen, that informed the way his character was written. “I think they based Starchild’s audition, which is his first scene, on wanting to be that type of performer,” said Adam.
On the experience of being on the Glee set, in front of the cameras, Adam says, “It’s super educational. I feel like I’m up there, learning so much every day, and getting to play.”
“I did a lot of theater growing up,” said Adam, “and this is kind of going back to the acting roots a little bit. It feels really good.”
Adam also talks about his ongoing relationship with the remaining members of Queen, and answers that important question: Is he a Katy or a Gaga?
