It’s finally here! Adam Lambert released his long awaited EP Velvet: Side A on Friday (Sept 27). The American Idol alum and Queen frontman has written and recorded a ton of news songs. But he won’t release them all at once.
“I’m doing something a bit untraditional and I’m going to release this album in two halves,” Adam explained to . “Side A of Velvet comes out in September…and Side B will come later.” He told a recent interview with, “It’s just a new way of doing things. A way to…extend the whole experience.”
The singer captures a 70’s/80’s a glammy, funky, dreamy laid back vibe on his fourth studio album. Releasing independently for the first time with EMPIRE as the distributor, Adam feels free to do his thing. He told Yahoo music.
I think the thing with Velvet is it’s a bit more focused, more cohesive. It’s a little more obvious what’s tying it all together. I feel like with this one I wasn’t thinking too hard. I was just kind of feeling and doing, which is where you want to be when you’re making music. I’m an overthinker; I have a tendency to get in my head on certain occasions. And the songs that are on this album were free-flowing. They came easy, and they weren’t me trying to fit into something new that wasn’t authentic.
