Adam Lambert Names Michael Lynche, Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Casey James as Season 9 Favorites

When Radaronline caught up with Adam Lambert on the GLAAD Media Awards red carpet Saturday night, they wondered if, after mentoring the Top 9 last week, he had a favorite to win.

Adam replied, “I don’t really know. I have four I think are really great singers: Michael, Lee, Crystal and Casey.

What, no Siobhan Magnus on that list, Adam? Heh.

  • Watch the video at Radaronline HERE.

About returning to the Idol stage, Adam says, “It was incredible. It was nice to see familiar faces. I had a great time with my performance. I got to put on a light show and wear a really cute outfit.”

The video also features  interviews with Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith and Kevin McHale from Glee.

  1. Ah – he didn’t name Siobhan…I thought he woudl have liked her because she is quirky.

  2. Adam replied, “I don’t really know. I have four I think are really great singers: Michael, Lee, Crystal and Casey. What, no Siobhan Magnus on that list, Adam? Heh.

I wonder if his statement will impact how his fans vote?

  3. He pretty much named everybody’s favorites, okay well mine. Minus Michael. Siobhan is overrated, IMO. Well she’s overrated on blogs at least, I don’t know anybody in RL who votes for her.

  4. Adam didn’t really step out on a limb. These are the top 4 remaining contestants.

  5. 4 out of 7, heh. Not much of a stretch. Can’t say I disagree with him.

  6. Apparently Adam doesn’t agree with the comparisons with Siobhan.

I don’t think his fans will sway votes. Seriously, I watched last week for Adam, that’s about all I can take. Just because he says jump doesn’t mean I have to. Now, his cray-cray fans may pick up the vote but I don’t think they will care enough to make a difference.

  7. So, did Idol tell him who they want in the Final Four? Or maybe they fear a backlash against Siobhan if Adam endorses her? Who knows what these people are doing with this show? Adam sure did look like her was rootin’ for the talented Ms. Magnus.

  8. No Tim? Lol
Why this is a gate (because everything Adam does is a gate), he just answered a question.

He was talking about voices not personalities, and we said it every week Siobahn has a great voice but she dosen’t have control over it.
If we’re talking about voice, I agree 100% with him.!!

  9. All I got from Adam last week when he was mentoring Siohbon was that he was glad she didn’t like to be put in a box and be defined. That she was not afraid of her uniqueness. But that’s just me I guess lol

  10. Luv
Haha that’s his body guard. At first I thought he was covering up a big yawn but now lol it looks like he his smelling his finger lol

  11. Adam didn’t metion Tim, Timmy, Timmeh, or Turbin. The outrage! The travesty! The unvarnished truth!

  12. When Siobhan performed last week she TOTALLY lost me. The opening part of her performance made me feel uncomfortable. She looked like she was going to come through the tv and eat my face. Her aesthetics turn me off. Her performances are a bit to schizophrenic for me. She sounds like 5 different people singing one song. And when she sings in her lower register she sounds like a Muppet. I’m not sure why Adam doesn’t favor her. Who knows? Perhaps it irks him that people compare her to him because she can hit high notes that she only hits 30% of the time. It irks me!

  13. For “Seriously”, who doesn’t know anyone who votes for Siobhan — I do. I’m 44 years old, female, Canadian expat, and get in about 1000 votes for her every week. I’ve also purchased all her iTunes recordings and love them, especially “Across the Universe”. Music is subjective… there’s no right answer as to who is “the best”, because we all take different things away from the listening experience. My all-time favorite artists over the course of my life are probably ABBA and Indigo Girls, two absolutely disparate sounds (other than the fact they feature harmonies), but they nevertheless appeal to some aspect of my heart/brain.

As to why Adam didn’t mention Siobhan, he may have just had a brain-cramp, or he might have been trying to avoid creating backlash for her. He must know that he had backlash last year when Katy Perry pimped him, and I’m sure he already feels that AI has pimped his connection to Siobhan to the point that it’s not a secret. Adam has never struck me as being mean-spirited and I can’t see how this was an intentional slam.

  14. Not surprised. This was perfectly clear from last week (he loved Crystal, praised Lee’s and Casey’s vocals, gave Mike standing ovation). But i don’t really think he cares that much, he just answered one of many questions that day…no big deal

  15. You can love and admire a person without thinking they have a superior singing voice!

Siobhan just needs more growth and experience. There is talent there but no control. Adam named to most solid and consistent voices.

  16. I don’t know if it will make any difference or not, but I’m glad AL is giving Michael some love. The rest of his top 3 are widely anticipated, although maybe some would replace Casey with Siobhan. Maybe it will help with the rampant dismissals of Mike as being too full of himself, too cheesy, blah blah blah (tm Ke$sha). I’ve heard it said that Mike is a singer’s singer – and that sure seems to be true. IMHO, along with Crystal, he’s the best thing about this season. I’m glad Adam appreciates him too. (He did give him a standing O, after all).

  17. From Adam B. Vary on EW.com “What we didn’t see” Adam gave more than one standing ovations, it just so happens that the camera’s decided to show us the Michael Lynche SO.

But anyways he doesn’t have to like Siobhan, I just thought he might like her, for him to pick those that he did is a surprise to me…

  18. First of all, who gives a damn who Adam likes or doesn’t like. Secondly,he should have kept his big mouth shut along with any other so-called mentor on that show. Also, I would think that Adam is the only one who knows how he feels or doesn’t feel about Siobhan or her voice. I like her, vote for her and hope she goes far in the competition. I also hope she, along with all of the contestants go on to be successful in their careers whatever that career may be.

  19. I agree with Adam’s choices. Good man, Adam!! ;-) Michael sings well, he is just annoying, which is a pity and a crime. It occurred to me that when Siobhan sings, she sings as slowly as she talks until she gets to the high notes; thus, a lot is “sleepy.” I agree with MJ too, in that she doesn’t seem in total control.

  20. well, he said early on that he liked Casey and Crystal, he praised Lee during his mentoring and Mike as well, so no surprise here – Siobahn did not really listen to his advice and her song was way too slow, plus some of the screams were far from perfect – I see no gate here, he praised four out of 7 contestants…

  21. Rocki Dreams, why would he keep his mouth shut? everybody is entitled to their opinion and he was specifically asked for it… All the media people name their favorites, what is wrong with that?

  22. I would actually be ok with this top 4. anyone but siobhan! her personality and attitude towards the competition have bugged me since the very beginning! and her voice is not commercial. she can go do some Broadway and stay away from my radio stations..

actually since Bmike bugs me too.. I’d like aaron to take his place!
then crystal, lee and casey are fine.. I think they are good.

  23. don’t understand why his opinion matters… i agree w him tho except for Mike.

  24. First of all, who gives a damn who Adam likes or doesn’t like. Secondly,he should have kept his big mouth shut along with any other so-called mentor on that show.

    1. I do. 2. He’s no longer on the clock as a mentor. I’m pretty sure that ends when the show airs.

  25. Count me as one overly-invested Season 8 fan, this year, not so much. Actually, haven’t invested even one vote this season! Adam has just as much right to an opinion as anyone else. And I’m glad he didn’t name Sioban – I really don’t get the comparisons of her to Adam. Just not in the same league, IMO.

  26. TexasWannaHoldEm: I totally agree, at the beginning I liked her, but now she gets on my nerves… I don’t mind her being compared to Adam, but why would such comparison obligate him to like her as a performer? Like MJ has said many times, she does not control her voice….

The point was I don’t know anybody in my personal life, apart from a blog, that votes for Siobhan. I totally get that some people out there do love her. It’s cool. Music is very subjective.

  28. As a former contestant, he should realize how this could impact everyone still competing on the show perhaps by the votes or maybe something called people’s feelings. He should have been more gracious about that question and as others before him have said, everyone is great or whatever mundane thing that comes to mind. Never mind me, I usually avoid Adam threads like the plague since I can’t stand him. I know others love him and that is great since music encompasses many different sounds for everyone. This is RockiDreams – out.

Didn’t both Cook and Kris talk about their favorites?

Geez I don’t remember… but a few past Idols did. I remember thinking it was funny because everyone was kinda knocking on Adam when he first mentioned Casey and ?? Lee… then there were a few other Idol favorites weighed in.

Didn’t both Cook and Kris talk about their favorites?

I know Cook did. I was shocked. lol He avoided naming anybody last year. Strangely he had avoided this question more than once this year and then had a brain fart and named people. I think he said Lee and Crystal were his favorites, and that was when there were a lot more people left in the competition. He was more specific then Adam was. Yet there wasn’t a -gate lol. Whatever Adam does is a gate. I’m waiting for Adam snores-gate.

Cook obviously forgot he said this on March 22nd.

Who’s your favorite contestant on “Idol” this year?

Man, that’s tough. I don’t know that I have one yet, and that’s for two reasons. One, it’s still really early. Two: I have a problem with picking a favorite and verbalizing it, only because I remember being on the show, and people would announce who their favorite was, so I’m not gonna do that. Sorry.

  31. As a former contestant, he should realize how this could impact everyone still competing on the show perhaps by the votes or maybe something called people’s feelings. He should have been more gracious about that question and as others before him have said, everyone is great or whatever mundane thing that comes to mind.

well, if we were to take this line of thinking, judges are the ones that hurt the contestants’ feelings the most, plus all the bloggers (MJ included) who voice their opinions about contestants and are not shy of critique…. Adam did not say a bad word about anybody, he just praised those, who according to him had the best voices, I still cannot see anything wrong with that….Other former Idols have been asked the same questions and answered it… still nothing wrong with that…

  32. I don’t get what’s so bad, he didn’t say that he had any favorites, just a few that he said had great voices.. *shrugs*

  33. I found the Cook quotes! March 17th Link

You once made a crack about being a grandfather to these new contestants two seasons on, but Lee Dewyze is someone who can be looked at as a disciple of sorts.

Lee’s interesting to me, he’s got kind of a husky rock voice for sure, it seems like his musical tastes are a little different. I’d be interested in seeing what he does not only in the next few weeks but post-“Idol.” That may be jumping the gun a bit, but he’s a talented dude, and I think he’s definitely heading in the right direction.

Anyone else stand out in your mind?

I really like Crystal, I think she’s got a lot of talent and I’m looking forward to seeing her stretch her boundaries a little bit. I don’t know, the people I’ve gotten into this season aren’t on it anymore. I really liked Katelyn Epperly. I thought she was great. If it were up to me, she’d be in the top 12.

ETA: The difference between Cook and Kris having favorites and Adam having favorites, is Adam has a thread to talk about it in. lol

  34. I LOVED Siobhan’s first four performances. After Paint It Black, I don’t know what happened. Her songs and arrangements from then on have felt erratic and flimsy. Too bad, cuz I think she has an intriguing stage presence, just a major lack of direction/experience.

But I’d loved to be proven wrong. I’m still waiting for her to win me over again.

  35. LOL Adam has mentioned liking Siobhan before. It probably just slipped his mind.

Also i was totally on team siobhan for a while but for the past few weeks she hasnt been living up to her Rolling Stone’s performance and i’m really not liking her anymore. I think she’s been completely lost recently.

  36. Mistake made in comments – because Cook named Kris Allen – he did give a name.
Adam did not give a favorite and off the cuff he named four people and he has a right to his opinion, just like all the mentors who have mentioned names on Idol and just like fans of AI like The View ladies who name favotites.
I also think Lee,Crystal are great, Michael great singer but I don’t like his vocal tone;Aaron sings well, nice voice but needs experience that’s all. I like the sound of Tim’s voice. I think Siobhan sings okay now and then -if she sings in her lower register because otherwise she goes flat in half the keys. We all can think whatever we want and can give our opinions. And like it or not, the freedom and right to do so is significant and Adam did not change my opinion of Michael or Casey cause I can think for myself.

  37. Yes, Adam certainly has a right to his opinion as do we all.
However, what I really want to know is……

    @adamlambert~
With those incredibly gorgeous eyes, why in the world are you hiding them with those large dark shades?!?! :(

  38. dcglam: lol, the mystery of the universe ;)
I really thing it was as simple as that: he has great blue highlights in his hair, navy blue suit and glasses really go well with it and he looks gorgeous. BB has style!!!

Considering all the nasty vile things said about Adam …. I really think he cares about hurting people’s feelings. I thought he showed great tact as a mentor. He was honest, but said it in a non-threatening way. There is more than one way to say something.

Yes. Kris just answered this question recently. Last year Daughtry and Carrie said who their favorites were. Every year past idols have answered this question.

    LOL
And I thought Adam was supposed to be automatically blinded by Timmy’s cuteness. Instead, Adam gave standing O’s to Crystal and Mike. I guess Mike is more “his type” than that cute Timmy boy.

    LOL — Love it!! :)

  43. You know, I’m not a fan of Adam, but I am not disturbed in the least with him listing his favorites. I mean, I’ve heard other former contestants name their favorites as well (Bo Bice, Jason Castro, Elliott, to name a few). Sure, they didn’t mentor. But, Miley Cyrus did and she named her couple of favorites as well.

  44. Eh…tonight will go back to being a snoozefest. Everyone’s fanbase that Adam didn’t mention will vote a little harder. I just know that I find this season a bore. Good for any of them that could wake up any interest in Adam.

  45. He was asked whow would win and he answered with who he thought the great singers were. He basically avoided the question. Siobhan still has an excellent chance to be in the top two, and her chances of being there are definitely greater than Big Mike’s or Casey’s.

  46. Ya maybe he just couldnt remember Siobhans name, kinda like Simon does forgets names.

  47. Siobhan still has an excellent chance to be in the top two, and her chances of being there are definitely greater than Big Mike’s or Casey’s.

I don’t know where you’re getting your probability stats from, but I like it.

Ya maybe he just couldnt remember Siobhans name

Or maybe he just has trouble pronouncing it. That must be it.

By any objective measure, Siobhan had one bad live performance. The rest have been solid and 4 or 5 have been spectacular. She made up for her poor live performance of “Through the Fire” with an amazing studio version. Lee has had one great perfomance and the rest have been just OK. Casey had a couple of great performances and ther rest have been something you would hear at your local bar. Both Lee and Casey are talented performers, but they have limited capacity to “wow” you compared to Siobhan. There’s still time to climb back on Siobhan’s bandwagon.

  49. ETA: The difference between Cook and Kris having favorites and Adam having favorites, is Adam has a thread to talk about it in. lol

^^^THIS!!! Or maybe no one really cared who Kris’ and David’s favorites were. I guess people are just fascinated with everything that Adam says. :)

  50. Never mind me, I usually avoid Adam threads like the plague since I can’t stand him.

    Thank you for admitting that.

Considering all the nasty vile things said about Adam …. I really think he cares about hurting people’s feelings. I thought he showed great tact as a mentor. He was honest, but said it in a non-threatening way. There is more than one way to say something.

    Well said!

    @adamlambert~
With those incredibly gorgeous eyes, why in the world are you hiding them with those large dark shades?!?!

Sunglasses are just another fab accessory to Adam. I’d be concerned if he wore them all the time, but he’s just being a tease. He knows how badly we crave a peak at those sparkly blue gems of his!!!

  51. I am still on Siobhans bandwagon all the way, even if Adam didnt mention her, heck, he named more that half the top 7, way to not have a -gate lol. But I HOPE Siobhan hits it tomorrow nite, I am hoping for her. If not, well you gotta start wondering.

  52. I have absolutely no problem with Adam naming favorites. I actually think that it takes a lot of balls to do so. Perhaps people are a bit more sensitive to it right now because he just mentored last week, and the competition is down to only 7 people. He has singled out the majority and left out only three singers. Somehow if you name one frontrunner out of 12 it doesn’t seem so harsh. I don’t know. But like I said, more power to him. He is entitled to voice his opinion.

Just to point something out re. Cook though. He didn’t single out Lee as one of his favorites. He was specifically asked to give his opinion about Lee. Big difference. Of course he was going to be complimentary – he is PC Cook. And in terms of picking Chrystal top 12 week as one of his favorites? He wasn’t exactly going out on a limb there. With pretty much everybody else being a trainwreck that week, he would have looked like a moron if he hadn’t named her. LOL.

  53. OK 2 times in a row, DWTS commercial, Adam singing FYE, its getting old I tell ya, ABC, what are you doing Adam on your network, the one who cause all the AMA mess with that song, and now you are playing it, ohhhh the irony of it all————

^^^THIS!!! Or maybe no one really cared who Kris’ and David’s favorites were. I guess people are just fascinated with everything that Adam says.

So are we turning this thread into a “my idol’s opinions are more relevant than your idol’s opinions” discussion now? LOL.

  55. First. To those saying that Adam should not have given his opinion when asked. Simon, Randy, and Kara go on numerous talk shows and name favorites. So what. Someone asked their opinion and they gave it.

Second. I compare Siobhan to a young racehorse with potential. The horse displays tremendous talent and speed and if that were controlled and applied properly it would decidedly win every race it ran. Whatever the reason though, the trainer, jockey, and horse is unable to control his born talent and he falls in with the middle of the pack. For me, while Siobhan has had flashes of brilliance, she has not learned to control her voice enough to make it to the front of the pack. Even a pack as weak as S9.

  56. Does anyone know who did Kris mention as a favorite?

Just curious, I do believe it is interesting to know who are the favorites of the previous idols, just because they have a closer perspective on the whole competition.

  57. JMO but I think Siobhan SUCKS but obviously I am in the minority cause she is still in the running.

In this most boring season Lee is my fav, followed by Crystal, Mike and Casey. Tim is growing on me (did I say that?) Aaron is going down and Siobhan is last.

  58. ^^^THIS!!! Or maybe no one really cared who Kris’ and David’s favorites were. I guess people are just fascinated with everything that Adam says. I know I am, so I can’t really blame them.

I wasn’t fascinated by what he said. The only ones that care are AL fans. Sorry this just turned into “my idol is better than your idol” once again. Like said in a previous post, David was asked specific questions on Lee and Crystal. Big difference, but in Adamland probably not.

  59. Alot of the previous idols have mentioned favorites. I am pretty sure David Cook, Daughtry and Jason and David A all said they liked Kris last year. Fantasia liked Danny Gokey and Brook White and Michael Johns liked Allison. Blake and Constantine liked Adam. I don’t think it is a big deal, at all. I think Kris said he liked Andrew and Crystal and Casey. I think earlier in the year when Adam watched the boys during top 24 he liked Todrick the best and then Casey and Andrew. I can imagine Adam not mentioning Siobhan’s name cause he forgot how to pronouce it. Siobhan has a great voice, she just is not that consistent with it during the competition.

  60. So are we turning this thread into a “my idol’s opinions are more relevant than your idol’s opinions” discussion now? LOL.

No-not at all. Just stating my opinion that Adam’s words, thoughts and actions usually get picked apart and over-analyzed. Just trying to make a negative seem like a positive. Or is it already a positive that this happens in the first place? I don’t really know. LOL

I do know I find who Kris’ and David’s faves are to be just as much a non-issue as who Adam’s are.

I wasn’t fascinated by what he said. The only ones that care are AL fans

I don’t blame you. I was being sarcastic about it being “fascinating”. There does seem to be a certain level of interest towards whatever Adam does or says that I don’t see with the others. YMMV

  61. Just stating my opinion that Adam’s words, thoughts and actions usually get picked apart and over-analyzed.

Oh poor baby. That happens to everyone from idol. It is not new to Adam. Case in point…Archie today. Every tweet was picked apart. This is not exclusive to Adam. When someone is as contraversial as Adam is, everything he says will get “over-analyzed”. Hell even when you’re not contraversial your words get “picked apart and over-analyzed”. Nothing new here.

  62. alxsavage:

Does anyone know who did Kris mention as a favorite?

Kris said Lee and Casey – I think it was just in an interview posted here yesterday or today

I didn’t say Adam was a poor baby or he needed sympathy. And no, I don’t believe that every idol is equal in the interest level they generate. Like I said, that could be looked at as both positive and negative.

I saw the tweets from Archie. His tweets usually don’t get over-analyzed. He just found himself in a situation that had his fans freaking out and he seemed to panic a little. Then he possibly tweeted some things he should have worded a little better.

  64. I only read enough of the most recent comments to add:

Um, one celebrity mentor who shall remain nameless nearly asked Kris Allen to marry him — ok, just offered to make a record with him — on the AI performance show itself no less, so I’m not seeing the issue with Adam, in an obscure post-GLAAD awards interview, naming the majority of the Top 7 as being folks with great voices. LOL But, hey, that’s me.

  65. For me, while Siobhan has had flashes of brilliance, she has not learned to control her voice enough to make it to the front of the pack. Even a pack as weak as S9.

ITA! I think she has a stunning sound to her voice, and I occasionally think she does stunning things with it, but it seems so out of her control that I just can’t rank her among the top of even this year’s meager offerings. I actually much prefer Tim, despite the fact that I don’t think he possesses as much natural talent, because he seems better aware of his limitations and, for the past couple weeks, anyway, has learned to work within those. Not every recording artist out there, after all, has dynamic range or even vocals. Plus, it’s not all about vocals. I could totally see Tim having a hoot (while attracting the giggling gaggles of pre-teen girls) in a boy band, but I have a difficult time viewing Siobahn out in the real world. I like her quirky personality and would like, maybe, having her as my off-the-wall friend. I can’t, however, imagine her out in the fast-paced, competitive music world.

  66. For me, while Siobhan has had flashes of brilliance, she has not learned to control her voice enough to make it to the front of the pack.

That may be true for you. For many others she is right there near the front of the pack. Siobhan is not nearly as inconsistent as mj and others on this blog make her out to be. All that it might take is one or two more stellar performances, mixed in with her usual solid ones, to push her over the top.

  67. If MJ hadn’t posted this, I never would have known what Adam said about the Idols. And I don’t think most idol fans will hear about this either. He said nothing on the show that would influence or favor fans one way or another. I really don’t think him giving his opinion will have any influence on the outcome of the show. He was asked, and he answered the question honestly. I’ve been watching the show all season and I still can’t remember how to pronounce Siobhan’s name (and not sure I’m even spelling it correctly).

  68. JMO but I think Siobhan SUCKS but obviously I am in the minority cause she is still in the running.

Yep, you are in the minority. There are many who prefer Crystal or Lee, for example, but I know of very few people who think that Siobhan sucks.

  69. Yep, you are in the minority. There are many who prefer Crystal or Lee, for example, but I know of very few people who think that Siobhan sucks.

At least she doesn’t play guitar, right? At least I don’t remember her playing guitar while singing. But I do think she’s nasally when she sings and I’m not a big fan of her voice.

  70. I wonder if Siobhan naturally talks in a slow sort of languid/lazy way .

  71. I’m not suprise at all. I’m not a fan of Adam ( this guy sings rock + disco right ? :/ ) but Siobhan ( this girl sings rock + soul right ? :/ ) is my favorite this year. Her favorite idols are Elliot and Fantasia, and I don’t think she’s a fan of Adam at all. She said it’s an great honor to be compared to him just to gain some votes (or the producers told her to ).
Siobhan’s not the best singer this year, but I do believe she can go far in the future, NOT as an solo artist. She should be in a rock band, like Daughtry or Smithson. Irish female rock singers like Carly Smithson or O’Riordan of The Cranberries got something special, and I think Siobhan got it too.

  72. I wonder if Siobhan naturally talks in a slow sort of languid/lazy way .

Yes she does, LOL. She’s just calm, not slow.

  73. thank god! I’ve always thought she sucked!

she is not calm… she is slow! you can see that she is trying to figure out what she gon say.. its painful for me to watch!

  74. Siobhan takes 90 million years to finish a sentence, and it bugs me. It bugs me really bad.

I’m not suprise at all. I’m not a fan of Adam ( this guy sings rock + disco right ? :/ )

He sings pop/dance stuff. Like a male Lady Gaga.

  75. Last year Carrie said her favorites were Kris and Danny. No one had a problem with that.

  76. thank god! I’ve always thought she sucked!

she is not calm… she is slow! you can see that she is trying to figure out what she gon say.. its painful for me to watch!

She thinks carefully before speaking ’cause she respects the listeners.
Siobhan’s fans will never say the same thing about other costestant. You’re like the Glamberts that Adam created last year, barking at poor Kris ’cause he won. If you don’t like Siobhan then turn off your TV whenever u see her. Don’t start the war.

  77. Didn’t both Cook and Kris talk about their favorites?

Don’t know about Cook, but come to think of it, I think Kris said his fave was Casey.

  78. I love Adam, but there isn’t anything he can say that will make this season less boring to me!

Loved his mentoring, I just wish more kids would have taken his advice.

  79. You’re like the Glamberts that Adam created last year, barking at poor Kris ’cause he won.

Please don’t lump us all together. I’m an Adam fan but have never barked at poor Kris, or even thought of him as “poor Kris”.

  80. Oh wow!!! I’ve had such a shitty day so I’m fired up and ready to give my unsolicited opinion on this subject.

First of all, Siobhan is NOT a great singer. Lately she’s barely even qualified as good. I was a fan in the beginning but I was more a fan of the ‘idea’ of her (being a female version of Adam) but the reality quickly set in when she gave bad performance after bad performance. She does seem slow to me and she doesn’t have anywhere near the talent, charisma or personality that Adam has. Crystal and Lee are the cream of this barely yielding crop and would make a great guy/girl finale.

Second of all, SO THE FREAK WHAT if Adam told a reporter who his favorites are? He has a fantastic ear and a great eye for talent and has been mentoring his own friends for long before he auditioned for Idol. He was a fantastic mentor and hands down the best guest performance I’ve seen on Idol EVER!!!

Third of all people jump all over anything that comes out of Adam’s mouth and try to twist it and turn it into something bad but ya know…that’s just a sure fire sign of his fame and his influence and his massive effect on people! Nobody really cares what Kris or Danny think of this years Idols because their careers are going nowhere fast (not being mean it’s just the truth sales and spins don’t lie).

And fourth of all, nobody would be having this conversation if MJs wasn’t so damn Kris biased and always trying to stir the Adam pot.

So there I guess I’ve said my piece. Love Adam he’s amazing and Crystal will win Idol this year (that is if she’s doesn’t quit).

  81. sr4mjc:
I love Adam, but there isn’t anything he can say that will make this season less boring to me!

I can’t remember which article I read, but it noted that Adam had about 15 minutes with each contestant. I don’t think that is enough time for them to change that drastically.

  82. I don’t recall Adam saying the 4 he named were his “favorites” but that they were great singers. I agree he has good ears and eyes for talent and that’s what he noticed last week when he was mentoring. Now, because he slighted the other 3 contestants he’s probably going to lose sales…LOL

  83. First of all peeps he was not volunteering his unsolicited opinion..He was particularly asked based on his perspective as a mentor…He was up close and personal with these guys( although a ahort period only) so he is in the better position to rate/assess these contestants .

  84. At least he did not say what I thought he should have said, which would have been that no one deserves to win because they all suck!

  85. What I find interesting is that on the American Idol contestant videos, nobody has over 100 comments this week. I think Siobhan has the most at 60. Adam had hundreds, I think even thousands sometimes, and so didn’t some of the other contestants.

I don’t think anything they do is going to spark new interest at this point.

  86. Horror of horors Just imagine Siobhan winning Idol then the media/interview blitz galore will follow …Can you imagine guys how she will address these questions? with her lazy way of talking we all will be pulling our hairs with impatience

    1)I’m no glambert..
2)I turn off my tv when she is on! :D
3)siobhan fans have said nasty things about other contestants wake up buttercup!
4)everyone is entitled to their opinion..
5)sorry if its was harsh, but it feels like siobahn fans are the like the glamberts.. loving her like a god! she cant do no wrong SHE IS PERFECTION! ………….BLEEEEEEEEEEEEH!…………

Does anyone know who did Kris mention as a favorite?

Kris said Lee and Casey – I think it was just in an interview posted here yesterday or today

    Thanks!

  89. What I find interesting is that on the American Idol contestant videos, nobody has over 100 comments this week. I think Siobhan has the most at 60. Adam had hundreds, I think even thousands sometimes, and so didn’t some of the other contestants.

    What videos? Where?

  90. LoL at this whole thread! seriously…
somebody is REALLY famous within the idol bubble

  91. I don’t get why its such a big deal that he gave an opinion on who he thought had good voices when he was asked the question. I find this a tad nitpicking. He is not the first Idol who has and I am sure will not be the last.

But since it seems people are assuming to know what he thinks and why he did what he did…I am going play along. I think he actually like Siobhan and knows that he induces strong opinions against all that is Adam, from VFTW and some non-fans.. If he said he liked her there could be possibly a more negative backlash to get her kicked off. (she already seems to have the same love/hate passion that Adam did, though I agree that her talent is not as developed as his or that she is as all around a great artist like him. So no need to tip the scale against her) If you are to believe the many people who posted most Adam fans or fans that watched because of Adam last year are not watching this year are are not going to be voting for anyone but a lot of the detractors are watching. So Siobhan could be more hurt by his support. Reverse Psychology. Putting his approval (I don’t say support because he just said good voices not that he was supporting any of them) on the 4 he did could get some to not vote for them and give Siobhan better chance at staying longer. Plus if she gets her grove back she could blow everyone out of the water. IMHO Ok that is my entry of a Hypothetical, Imagined, Educated, Fiction story of Adam answer. What you think?

  92. Sorry but I think Siobhan fans are not the only ones in the running for the ner Glambert title. The seems to be a bit of competition for the title. The season can’t be a total waste since the fantards are coming out of the woodworks.

  93. I just popped over to the ai forums. Siobhan and Lee have by far the most comments, with 26,000 and 22,000. where as Crystal has 16,000 and Casey has 15,000. Big Mike has the least at 2,900 followed by Tim Urban with 4,700 and Aaron with 4,900.

So maybe we are looking at a Siobhan and Lee finale? I don’t know if measuring the comments on the AI board is a predictor of how the finale will go. I do recall both Adam and Danny had the most posts, so who knows.

  94. I don’t Think Siobhan sucks I just think she is too inconsistent. She would benefit from a vocal coach and a Performance educator if there is such a thing. Anyway I think she may do very well this week with the Theme. We will see tomorrow night.

Correct me if I am wrong but having the most post I do not think necessarily makes you the most liked. Like I said before she does evoke a lot of passion both Positive/negative similar to Adam. Which is a good thing in the world of entertainment but maybe not when you want to win a singing/reality contest

  96. So maybe we are looking at a Siobhan and Lee finale? I don’t know if measuring the comments on the AI board is a predictor of how the finale will go.

Nope. It never is. All it measures is how devoted the core fan base is. That’s it.

  97. I don’t know if measuring the comments on the AI board is a predictor

    No it’s not

  98. Well, re Sioban: I won’t go so far as to say I think she sucks, I just don’t like her voice. I LOVE her fashion style, but her voice is either out of control (with the Gokey-esque scream), or she does a 180 and sounds way too careful. Anyway, I know this is just my opinion, and I love the passion we all have for our faves. That’s what makes this so much fun! Actually, it’s a more relaxing experience this season for me watching AI because I really don’t care who wins, as opposed to last season when I felt almost physically sick with nerves before Adam’s performances!

I think looking at the # of people signed up for the fan list is a better indication of popularity than looking at the total number of posts. I think that Siobhan, Casey and Crystal each have over 300, but not 400, with Lee in the high 200’s. There is a bigger drop off once you move to the other contestants. Interestingly, Big Mike has by far the fewest at around 50. His fans are obviously not AI bloggers.

Last year, Adam had the most with Danny far, far behind him, then Anoop, Matt, and I believe Kris after Matt. Kris was even in the bottom three on Dial Idol several times. He practically had zero buzz. No one was really out there talking about him. Adam and Danny also had the most fans who signed up for numbers. Danny actually started out more than Adam, and I don’t know what happened to Danny’s fans — they didn’t sign up as many as from the beginning. Adam’s numbers skyrocketed.

Conclusion: There doesn’t seem to be any predictors.

  101. Nope. It never is. All it measures is how devoted the core fan base is. That’s it.

Good points on both fronts. I agree looking at the fan list is a better indicator. I haven’t read any of the comments over there, but was just curious because I haven’t seem much in regards to fan groups for this season. I did run across the name Bon Bons for Sioubhan, which is cute.

I recall the joke during Season 7 was that Syesha had no fans, yet she came in third. So perhaps Big Mike has a larger fan base then is represented on AI forums.

  102. Holy Moly, talk about selective quotation.

Adam wants to convey a complex proposition and he breaks it down into steps.

First he declares that he doesn’t really have anyone he is rooting for.

Second he identifies 4 contestants with strong voices.

Third, he charges that each of them need to work on differentiating themselves from “the competition.” Not each other, but competition that is apart from these 4 contestants.

Why on earth would he include Siobhan in a group that needs to work on differentiating themselves from the competition? She’s already differentiated herself. She is the competition for these 4.

  103. I cnat find the link but I saw a picture right after Allison was booted with the number of posts for last season. Adam had more posts by afew thousand than the rest of the Top 13 combined. So that is definatly not a way to determine who is going to win. Cuz Kris had a lot less than a lot of the other finalist but ended up winning. Lol

  104. Both Simon and Ryan said Adam and Danny had huge fanbases. Altho Danny made it to the top three, I don’t know why they didn’t rally behind him to get him to the finale.

  105. Correct me if I am wrong but having the most post I do not think necessarily makes you the most liked.

Neither does having Adam Lambert say that you are great singer!

Neither does having Adam Lambert say that you are great singer!

I agree with that but what does one have to do with the other…I am a bit confused since I didn’t even mention Adam. but like I said I agree. Heck if Simon can’t get people to vote for who he wants nobody can really :-)

  107. And fourth of all, nobody would be having this conversation if MJs wasn’t so damn Kris biased and always trying to stir the Adam pot.

Hahahahahaha! Funny stuff. The pot calling the kettle black. Hahahaha.

MJ’s biased to Kris, hahahahahahahahaha. Get real.

  108. When I commented about the S9 comments under their performance videos (not the forums), it wasn’t to say who would win, who’s leading etc. It was to show the seemingly lack of interest in finding out what these contestants did on stage. S8 had a ton more comments under their performance videos, not just Adam. I’m sure S7 did also. There just isn’t a “buzz” with the S9 contestants. Adam naming favorites isn’t going to generate it either.

  109. anything adam said put him in trouble.i think adam forget to mention siobhan magnus name.

  110. There are only 7, maybe should have mentioned all 7, this is too funny, anything to talk about Adam from the media!!!

  111. i think everyone on AI the contestents give they own opinion of who gonna win and noone said anything and now the have problem with adam opinion, its so odd and stupid that people so picky of what adam saying.
enough of this,i wish they go pick someone else to blame.all other idol fan fire back and attack on adam and his fan and when we defends him they get angry but when some of us fireback at other idol they get upset why we attack them?

  112. whatever, i never like siobhan, her performance always boring, i just dont get it. Her version of accross the universe made me sleepy :(
    i choose katie over her
my fave are lee, crystal and katie, but they’re still not outstanding if we compare to david cook, kelly, chris, adam, and the others

  113. adam is sweet, friendly person ,people think adam is mean didnt mentioned siobhan magnus, and done it on purpose.maybe he forgot mention her,he dont hate her.in some interview adam mantioned that crystal and soibhan are very talented people.

  114. It’s just sad that Idol seemed so hell bent on finding another Lambert on the stage. Siobhan should never compared to Adam. They might seem similar on the surface but they have different styles. So there.

This is Kara’s fault, she was so quick to compare Siobhan to Adam just for one performance… duh

  115. It’s really funny that most peeps are always up in arms over Adam’s comments! C’mon give the guy a break, he has just as much a right to voice his opinions as other folks who are asked the same questions. The press is definitely interested in his views and love to quote him – some even to the extend quoting almost his every tweet if they can’t get any interviews from him! :)

  116. 5)sorry if its was harsh, but it feels like siobahn fans are the like the glamberts.. loving her like a god! she cant do no wrong SHE IS PERFECTION! ………….BLEEEEEEEEEEEEH!…………
    T

ETA: i know this has nothing to do with Adam’s comment, but you can see here she’s not really speaking slowly.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmOo_X4Y8qs

ouch. I’m a fan, but I definitely don’t feel that way about Siobhan. especially when she screams. x_x And I don’t think her way of speaking means she’s retarded or something, I know some people who speak just like her.

  117. sarcasm re: Sioban? Interesting. It’s not warranted, imo. Well, let’s see here. Hmm. All of the mentors have complimented her on her voice. Adam, included. He even gave her one of the biggest hands of the night save the standing “o” for whatshisface. So, no. I don’t get it. Not an effective tool
nor is it appropriate in this case. Sorry.
