Adam Lambert Donates his KISS Costume to the Hard Rock in San Diego

Adam Lambert donated his costume from the number he performed with KISS during last year’s American Idol finale to the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego yesterday (Dec. 3).   More photos and a short video can be found HERE.

‘It always feels good to come home, ‘ he said during a question-and-answer session, adding that he’d like to return in spring, as part of a concert tour. ‘I’ve never been to the Hard Rock Hotel. This area of San Diego has changed so much.’

Introduced by Jennifer White of Radio Sophie, the event attracted about 100 people, including fans and media members. From what I saw and heard, Lambert could hardly have been more gracious. No snarkiness, no attitude.

Remember When: Adam’s performance with KISS at the AI Finale HERE.

  1. It looked like more then 100 people in the video I saw. Actually a lot more. Good camera work.

Love this part and it says it all

From what I saw and heard, Lambert could hardly have been more gracious. No snarkiness, no attitude.

  2. Thanks for the memories MJ. Adam’s rendition of Beth that night still makes me swoon. Awesome.

Time to focus on the good things that are happening for him. The recognition in his hometown has to make him feel great……..despite having a stomach virus.

  3. I like that short hair on him! It makes him look very young. I like it A LOT more than his longer spikey hair. Srsli Adam, good jaerb on the hair.

  4. Thanks for the memories MJ. Adam’s rendition of Beth that night still makes me swoon. Awesome.

That was a gorgeous, amazing performance. (When he sang Beth).

    He’s so cute!

  5. How can he be so cute and humble…. I wish he could teach my kids a lesson on this.

  6. That was a gorgeous, amazing performance. (When he sang Beth).

    He’s so cute!

    ITA!!!!!

  7. Adam looks a lot like he looked when he first tried out for AI last year.

  8. When was Adam snarky? Looks like the Hard Rock was as full as the fire marshall would let it be. There are laws, you know. Just ask the FCC.

  9. Adam looks a lot like he looked when he first tried out for AI last year.

He sure lost the weight he put on during the show, didn’t he?

  10. I hope he wouldn’t lose more weight. He is already skinny.

He seems to start promoting his album on radio now even though I think it’s a little bit too late. I ‘m surprised though that WWFM has not yet been a hit. He sang it on Ellen, Lettermen and CBS, still it didn’t do as well as it should be. I love this song and wish to see it #1 on billboard. It also seems that his fans are busy with the ABC’s stuff thing that they forget to concern about his second week sale.

  11. AAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

I JUST FINALLY GOT MY ADAM CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHIPPED ALL THE WAY FROM THE US OF A!!!!!!!

THIS IS SOOOOOO EXCITING!!!!!!!!! The pictures inside are so beautiful, and I can now upload the songs to my MP3 player- Wooooooooooooot!!!

I ordered two copies, and my dad just confiscated one of them… ha ha
    Adam for world domination!!!!!

  12. LOL mr – so great for you congrats. Enjoy! You have to let us all know what your favorites are.

  13. Thanks bridg’!!!

Well, obviously I’ve already been listening to live stream of the album online for the past two weeks, so I’ve formed a lot of opinions… and they keep changing, but now I’ll be able to actually play with it the way I like to (for instance- to stop/pause, re-listen to the same line repeatedly if I’m checking something out, listen on my headphones while walking, etc.)

Broken Open has consistently been my favourite ever since I heard the snippet- because it’s simply perfect. His voice and the production give you this out of body feeling, and while they feel a little outer spacish and cold, the lyrics are warm and beautifully written. Very proud of him for that one.

Second favourite is much harder to determine- it’s a four way tie between Soaked, Sure Fire Winners, Pick U Up, Fever.
Each one is so different from the other, but they’re all just fabulous- SFW put’s “a fire under my butt” (to quote a certain someone), Fever is just so damn fun and sexy, Pick U Up is the sweetest song ever- it just has me imagining speeding downhill on a bike with someone I love and laughing all the way (I don’t even know where I came up with that, but that’s just the way it makes me feel…) and Soaked is just simply beautiful and relatable, that feeling of loneliness.

Tied for 3rd- Music Again (love it much more than I did on the first listen), Sleepwalker (yeah yeah, it’s Teddar formula, but it works dammit!) and Whataya want from me (also like it much better than on first few listens).

I gotta admit that I also like the others, so, yeah, I have no idea how the hell he assembled such a kick ass album in three months…

Wow- re reading my post- it’s pretty long… hee hee.

What’s everybody else’s faves? I’m interested to know

  14. When the heck has Adam ever been “snarky” or had “attitude”? So I guess if you believe in your performance and don’t apologize for something you aren’t sorry for, that makes you “snarky”?

P.S., Did that one dude in the video refer to Adam as “One of San Diego’s favorite GIRLS???” Did I hear that right? Lol, Freudian slip much?

  15. It depends on my mood-Fever or SFW if want to move/dance-Boken Open/Soaked if wanting to chill. I like WWFM anytime!

  16. Did anyone else hear Adam imply or say in the video that he will continue to “interpret the lyrics to a song” or something to that effect-i.e. if its’ a sexy song, he’ll do a sexy performance? Am I imagining that he said that?

  17. Sorry but I don’t get the snarkiness no attitude comment. When has Adam ever been that way? That’s not the vibe I pick up from him at all and I have heard just about EVERY interview. Please explain.

  18. @mr
Hmm, yes, I see you have changed some of your line up since the snips.
Sleepwalker has slipped to a 3rd place tie.
Me too, I have slightly rearranged mine . Broken Open is my #1, Fever #2
Agree with your #3 Music Again, after hearing it live on Early Show. I wasn’t impressed with snip. #4 Soaked, and #5 Sure Fire Winners(love the lyrics and anthemy glam roc. #6 Sleepwalker, Loaded smile, and Whataya want from me. #7 Pick U Up , and Masterplan. #8 Aftermath, #9 If I had You, and # 10 For Your entertainment, #11 Down The Rabbit Hole.
So I’m putting Time For Miracles on the outside as it doesn’t really mesh with the rest, but I have to admit I do like it, for the Cheesy disaster anthem it is!!!
I expect my line up to be somewhat fluid as well. I know I’m getting this for
Christmas,so, I don’t dare get it or download it. My name would be mud!
I am so glad for you…2?.., and what did you mean when you said your Dad already confiscated one(album)? Are you censored or just shareing?LOL!!

    it is!

  19. it is weird, but my favorite changes with every additional listen. Fever and Sleepwalker rank right up there for me.
Fever mostly because I love his attitude and it elevates my mood when I am feeling stressed, kind makes ya feel young and sexy

  20. That night I got chills as he sang “Beth”. Love the outfit. So happy for Adam. He’s not doing too shabby around the world.

  21. Sorry but I don’t get the snarkiness no attitude comment. When has Adam ever been that way? That’s not the vibe I pick up from him at all and I have heard just about EVERY interview. Please explain.

I don’t know for sure, but I took it to mean that a person might expect someone who shot so quickly into the public consciousness in the last year, just had a #3 debut album, gave a performance that caused an almost two week media shitstorm, and who was asked to donate one of their performance costumes to be displayed next to stuff from people like Madonna and Jimi Hendrix to BE arrogant. But nope, he’s the same sweet guy he was at the start of Idol.

  22. I JUST FINALLY GOT MY ADAM CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mr, congrats! I know you were looking forward for it to arrive. Enjoy!

  23. I find it interesting that when people list their favorites off this album hardly anyone ever mentions If I Had You. Yet, I have heard Adam in at least two interviews really plug that song as one that he really likes and would like it to be “pushed” next. Personally, that is not one of my favorites either.

    btw-Love Adam singing Beth.

  24. I find it interesting that when people list their favorites off this album hardly anyone ever mentions If I Had You. Yet, I have heard Adam in at least two interviews really plug that song as one that he really likes and would like it to be ‘pushed’ next. Personally, that is not one of my favorites either.

This is one of three songs on the album that my kids ask me to play over and over and over again.

  25. Thanks MJ for this thread and the ‘walk down memory lane’ with Adam’s KISS performance! Adam’s eyes look so amazing when he sang Beth.

I’m so anxious to see more live performances during December.

I like ‘If I Had You’ from the album…especially the beginning, “I got my boots on, got the right amount of leather, and I’m doing me up with a black color liner..”. It’s fun and good dance music. But I love the whole album.

  26. Glad to hear there is some love out there for IIHY. I suppose if we all picked which one we wanted pushed to radio we would probably get 14 different answers (can’t remember how many tracks off hand so I’m guessing there). Bowie1 I agree with you about the beginning-that makes me smile every time.

    mr-enjoy your cd.

  27. My first fave off the cd was Broken Open, couldn’t stop playing it. Now my 2 faves, always played back to back, are If I Had You and Pick U Up. So much energy, and you just have to sing along. I love the bridge on If I Had You.
But I still love Broken Open, too. And Loaded Smile. Oh yeah, and Soaked! SO many favorites on that album!!
I really liked TFM when it came out, but it does not belong on this album, the album should have ended with Broken Open.

  28. Oh, count me as one who definitely loves both IIHY and Pick U Up as well! Then again, I love all the songs for different reasons and different moods :-)

  29. He seems to start promoting his album on radio now even though I think it’s a little bit too late. I ‘m surprised though that WWFM has not yet been a hit.

Too late to promote the album?? It’s just out. The idea is to keep selling it until the next one comes out. He had a good first week, but that won’t sustain the album over the next year. He’ll be promoting the album for a long time to come. And I love Adam too, but let’s be realistic, WWFM just went for adds a week and half ago. It’s already getting audience impressions similar to if it had broken into the top 40 and it’s getting more spins every day. Total goodness.

And I don’t get the comment about him being gracious either. I would expect him to be his normal gracious self. Why would someone expect him to have an attitude and be snarky?

  30. Hey guys- thanx for all the congrats!

I lost my internet connection for a while there, and then just went to do some RL stuff, and listen to my brand new glittertastic CD, ofcourse…:-)

Justjude-about my Dad- lol, I’m 29 years old, so obviously he can’t deprive me of hearing/seeing anything, but I live really close to my parents, and went over to share my excitement- and he just announced that one copy was staying with him whether I liked it or not… ha ha… and then my mom came and looked at the cover and went “you know that he looks like a woman”, which had me laughing all over the place (see over here in Israel they don’t really get any Adam news- except the AMA thing- THAT was shown all around- so she’d never seen or heard about the album cover before). Funny thing is that my dad didn’t mind that at all…

About If I Had You- I also love it- I really see myself at a club dancing to it- I just had others higher up on my list :-)

  31. About “If I Had You”—my kids love this song. This song, along with “Music Again” are the favorites. I am learning to like it more and more, there are some pretty cool lyrics.

And about The Hard Rock, he looks absolutely gorgeous.

  32. Can someone explain to me how the Pop and Overall sales charts work? I see Adam’s albums are 10 and 12 on the the Pop chart but 48 on overall. How has he stayed so high on the Pop chart but dropped on overal? This is iTunes only.

  33. I like so many of the songs on the CD; I have different favorites on different days, like many of you. I love “Broken Open” and lately have been loving “Fever” just for fun. I also love “Soaked,” “Loaded Smile” and “Music Again.”

I think it’s just that among the select, specific genre of “Pop” music sales, FYE ranks numbers 10 & 11. When sales of ALL types of music are lined up, FYE comes in at #48.

  35. “If I Had You,” “Pick U Up” and “Broken Open” are my favorites right now, although that can change on any given day. I’d say that “Pick U Up” has been a consistent favorite of mine, though. Really, I like just about every song on the CD!

About Adam’s donation of his Kiss performance get-up: Someone must have gotten those wings back from the Bob Mackey showroom or fashioned a knock-off pair since Adam had borrowed those and returned them. Also, I’m cracking up at the “well-endowed” mannequin on which those pants are displayed! LOL!

  36. Teri63,

I thought the ‘well endowed’ impression of the mannequin was my imagination, guess not!!LOL!

Gotta make it lifelike, I guess!!!

  37. GaGaGlambert,

Thanks for the link, duet on this Fever would be on FIRE, both literally and figuratively-You are the best (not just because you were most awesome during our Adam Early Show adaventure!!LOL!)

Are we on watch for possible Fallon show?? Tickets???

  38. “I think it’s just that among the select, specific genre of ‘Pop’ music sales, FYE ranks numbers 10 & 11. When sales of ALL types of music are lined up, FYE comes in at #48.”

So this is good right? Seems everyone focuses so much on the overall but the fact that he is still in top ten in his genre seems to be not a big deal.

The overall chart ranks sales for cds or songs from every genre — so not only pop but country, rock, classical, soundtrack, you name it. …. And especially with the high-selling country genre in there, you can be pretty high on your genre-specific chart — like pop, rock, or classical, for example — and still be pushed to a fairly low position on the general chart, which includes how all music put out by *anybody* is currently selling.

You can be #1 on the classical chart sometimes and not even in the top 200 overall chart, no doubt! So just be glad we aren’t looking at classical singers here!

  40. yeah you know you have made it when Eminem disses you in a song that will be bought and heard by MILLIONS!!!

    Sorry forgot the song link:

  41. So this is good right? Seems everyone focuses so much on the overall but the fact that he is still in top ten in his genre seems to be not a big deal.

It seems pretty good to me. I’m not very well-versed in the business/sales aspect of the music industry, but I would think that it’s pretty favorable that FYE is still holding its own on I-Tunes among its direct competitors in its specific genre of Pop music.

  42. I watch Larry King whenever his lineup interests me and I don’t remember him every having anyone perform on his show. I’m not real happy Adam is going to be on as I’m sick of the AMA discussions and I’m sure that will be a big topic. Barf!

  43. Larry king conversation can be ick, but this is a mainstream program with more people seeing that Adam is personable and the scary ‘inappropriately gay dude’ that ABC is trying to portray

Plus more people knowing he has a cd

Adam responds to enimem including him in Elevator:

    http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00029309.html

  44. OMG, did you hear the last question asked to Adam in the Toronto radio intereview?

    http://toronto.virginradio.ca/blogs/2/posts/623

I did not know the meaning of the expression and had to go to the urban dictionary to look it up. I figured out the meaning but since I am not a native speaker of English, I wanted to make sure. I think this is the first time he has been asked this. I don ´t remember that it was even discussed in any of our detailed discussions about Adam during the tour.

    It was fun ;-)
