    1. That was quite entertaining! Carrie is quite good at presenting
      thanks for posting :)

    2. Those dresses are more than vaguely horrific. And someone should tell Carrrie to put the spray tan gun down from 11.

    3. I love Carrie and she was very good at being the straightman to Brad, who was awesomely hilarious.

    4. Thanks Mj for the videos.
I was waiting for Kelly’s since I couldn’t find any live stream and that was amazing!
The song is a big bombast and they had the whole orchestra with the string session, but the voices were still front and center.
The immediate standing ovation afterwards doesn’t lie.

    5. I loved Carrie’s opening performance & Kelly’s song with Jason. AI should be very proud of these 2 girls.

    6. Was Kelly crying? It looked like she was wiping her eye after. Awww…..I may have to buy that song, even if it is country.

    7. Did someone get Taylor Swift’s song on video..I heard it was par for the course for her..pretty bad

    8. Kelly is still the most thrilling voice Idol has ever discovered. She looked beautiful too.

    9. KELLY CLARKSON ……WOW
The girl is a powerhouse! IMO no other idol can top her.

    10. Thanks for the vids and liveblog – it was a fun way to catch up on the night!

Jason & Kelly were good – I love the buzz in the crowd when Kelly showed up to share in the first chorus. Felt like it took a bit for Jason & Kelly to find their harmonies amongst the giant swelling background music, but were nicely in sync by the end. And Kelly always comes through on the big notes! Wowsa.

Looks like a really nice bump on itunes – up 50++ spots from earlier in the evening, now at 28.

    11. I heard it was par for the course for her..pretty bad

Heh, I actually thought that was one of Taylor’s better performances. She kept it simple, which is good since she has not much for range.

    12. Kelly was and is amazing. Somehow her voice has character, personality, or whatever it is that makes it so interesting. It is not just because she can hit the high notes. And she just stood there.
Good luck for Nigel to find someone like her again on idol.

What is amazing is that they found her after they auditioned aproximately ten time less people than in following seasons. What are the odds?

    14. Wow! Kelly was fantastic in that duet and I loved the standing O right afterwards. AI was incredibly lucky to have found Kelly.

    15. Idol should be skeered to think that they got Kelly in a season where there was a relatively limited number of auditioners. Had there been more, they might not have picked her, I’m betting. Simon clearly didn’t think she was pretty or personable enough to be his big star, as I recall. During Hollywood week he kept complaining that he totally forgot about her between performances and that he wasn’t even that impressed with her singing. Dunderhead.

(I actually kind of like Carrie’s dress. Kellie P’s dress and Carrie’s tan, not so much, though. Like both of them, though, so I don’t much care about the dresses. And Kellie has to dress that way in order to pursue her Dolly-lite ambitions, I expect!)

    16. Carrie was a great host! She’s pretty funny.

The best thing about The Pickles is that you just start laughing as soon as you see her. She’s never NOT funny.

Kelly is just awesome. She always is.

    17. Idol represented last night! Carrie did great as a cohost and performer, Kelly did great. Overall it was a pretty solid night of performances. Taylor and Reba were probably the worst and Taylor really wasn’t that bad by her standards since the song involved all of 4 or 5 notes. Reba is never that bad but it wasn’t a great song or performance by her standards.

      QFT.

Anybody else notice Carrie subtly elbowing Jeff Gordon because he was supposed to say Kelly’s name but forgot?

    18. Kelly and Jason were my favorites of the night. Wow that was good.

Anybody else notice Carrie subtly elbowing Jeff Gordon because he was supposed to say Kelly’s name but forgot?

So that’s what happened. It had bothered me that Kelly hadn’t been introduced properly like every other performer.

    19. Thanks for the vids, MJ! I’d never watch the whole show, but love watching the bits and highlights. Love Kelly, Carrie, Kellie, Brad. Loved it. Everyone looked great, and sounds good (on these clips)

So that’s what happened. It had bothered me that Kelly hadn’t been introduced properly like every other performer

I thought at first maybe it was because Kelly was a “surprise” guest, but then I realized in the other intros involving two names, usually Carrie says one name and Brad finishes with the other, so yeah, it does look like that guy forgot.

    20. So nice to see Miranda shut out the pop princesses for once. Girl is a real musician and has been working for this a long, long time.

    21. Anybody else notice Carrie subtly elbowing Jeff Gordon because he was supposed to say Kelly’s name but forgot?

Heh, Jeff looked like a deer in the headlights up there, grinning like crazy under that big ol’ hat ;)

    22. Did someone get Taylor Swift’s song on video..I heard it was par for the course for her..pretty bad

Actually it was pretty good. She wore a beautiful gown, she played the piano while she sang, and the song really showed off her songwriting skills. Her voice was mostly in tune and surprisingly lacked that little-girl quality that she usually tries to put on. Maybe she’s growing up. (P.S. the lyrics sound like they were written for Taylor Lautner.)

    23. Taylor Swift was great – she looked beautiful and sang very well.
One of my favorite moments, next to Kelly’s duet w/ Jason, Brad’s new song “This is Country Music” and Carrie’s Mama’s Song.

    24. Taylor Swift was not great. I admit this was one of her better performance since she was more in tune than normal. Nevertheless, she was still flat in spots, and I wasn’t engaged by her performance at all. So it was a good Taylor performance, but a still mediocre performance compared to everyone else.
