It’s Official — Katharine McPhee to Tour with Bocelli

The rumors are trueKatharine McPhee will make a special guest appearance with Andrea Bocelli at three of his west coast concerts, including June 9th in Sacramento, June 10th in San Jose and June 11th in Los Angeles.  Thanks J

 

Chart News

All Top 4 Idols debuted on Billboard’s Top Pop 100.  Chris Daughtry is the first Idol to debut in the Top 40.  Here are the numbers: 

  • #37 – Chris Daughtry – “Wanted Dead or Alive”
  • #53 – Taylor Hicks – “Takin’ It to the Streets”
  • #73 – Elliott Yamin – “Moody’s Mood for Love”
  • #90 – Katharine McPhee – “Think”

Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks also debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100.  Chris’s track earned Billboard’s “Hot Shot Debut” honors.  “Wanted Dead or Alive” entered the chart at #43.  Taylor’s track, “Takin’ it to the Streets” entered at #69. 

According to Billboard, “This is the first time in 5 seasons that the person crowned American Idol has not first appeared on the Hot 100 with a song from the finale.”  “Do I Make You Proud” makes its debut on another chart,  Adult Contemporary, entering at #21.  It should show up on the Hot 100 as soon as sales kick in.

So far, from all 5 seasons,  19 Idol finalists have charted on Billboard.  That doesn’t count Idol reject, William Hung, who has also charted.  Check out the Billboard article to see a list of all the charted finalists. 

Fun Fact: The 3rd season of Idol has produced the highest number of charted contestants.

You can watch Taylor Hicks’s CBS Early Show interview here.  Taylor spoke politely of Simon.  He said,  “He was a nice guy and very cordial…it was an interesting season he and I going back in forth…it’s an Amercian TV Show.”  Taylor says his album will be “very rootsy, very soulful…I’m going to ‘Taylorize’ it.”

Katharine McPhee’s finale duet partner, Meatloaf, talks about his stage fright at TVGuide.com.  He has no recollection of the performance.  Meatloaf confesses that he had  “McPheever”, “I kept calling in and voting for Katharine…just so you know that…She’s gorgeous and beautiful. You know what they say: Sex sells!”
