Katharine McPhee Signs with 19 and RCA
Here’s the press release officially announcing Katharine McPhee’s contract with 19 Recordings Limited and RCA. Clive Davis, chairman of BMG U.S. will oversee the project.
This People magazine article quotes Davis, “My first task is going to be to sit down with her and see what her vision is for herself. … She is a pop singer. There is no question. Our task will be to find hits for her that fit her like a glove and can be hits on today’s radio. That is the challenge and the task that lies in front of us.”
Her single, the double-A sided “Over the Rainbow/My Destiny” will be available Tuesday June 27.
The songs Katharine did well on the show were stripped down and simple, or had a blues edge. Hopefully Clive sticks with what she did best on the show. Which is more along the lines of Norah Jones, Jewel or Sarah McLachlan rather than Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilara or Kelly Clarkson. Thanks xoxoyc
