Kelsea Ballerini hosted the 2024 CMT Music Awards, which aired LIVE from Austin, Texas’ Moody Center on Sunday, April 7.

Jelly Roll emerged as the night’s top winner, taking home three trophies, including the show’s most prestigious Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, and CMT Performance of the Year—all for his song “Need a Favor.” Additionally, he is the first artist to win back-to-back awards for male video of the year in a decade, then closed the show by setting himself up to win again next year with his fiery show closer “Halfway to Hell.”

“I love you, Austin, Texas,” Jelly Roll said. “This is a moment I want to take to thank the fans for everything they’ve done for me. I want to thank God. I want to thank my beautiful wife and my daughter at home. One year ago, I was invited to perform at my first awards show, and I walked on this stage, and I sang ‘Need A Favor’ on national television for the first time right here. What I am emotional about is that in the last year, you have changed my life in every way I would have never thought my life could be changed.”

The country singer will appear on Monday night’s American Idol episode, serving as a mentor and judge for the Top 24.

American Idol season 10 winner Scotty McCreery won in the DMT Digital – First performance of the year category for his performance of “It Matters to Her” from CMT Stages. However, Scotty did not attend the ceremony to pick up the award in person. Season 19 winner, Chayce Beckham did attend, as he was nominated in the Male Breakthrough Category for his No. 1 hit, “23,” but lost to Warren Zelders. Also seen on the red carpet–Tae Lewis currently competing on The Voice 25.
