2023 CMT Awards: Carrie Underwood winning streak ends
The CMT Awards voters shut out Carrie Underwood for the first time in years. The American Idol season 4 champ is the most awarded CMT winner ever, reliably winning the video categories she is nominated in year after year. Video of the year went to co-host Kane Brown & Katelyn Brown for “Thank God.” Lainey Wilson won Female video of the year for “Heart Like A Truck.” If Carrie had won in her categories it would have marked 27 wins for her. During the ceremony, the singer took the stage to perform “Hate My Heart.”
Carrie shared with People magazine that her husband Mike Fisher was at home with her kids Michael (8) and Jacob Bryan (4). “My husband’s got the kiddos. He’s always holding down the fort while I’m out doing stuff like this.” She gave her family a shoutout. “Hi, guys!”
Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini hosted the 2023 CMT Music Awards live from Moody Center in Austin Texas. The even aired on CBS and it’s affiliates and is available to stream on Paramount+.
