2017 Creative Arts Emmy Winners List (UPDATED FULL LIST)

There are dozens of Emmy nomination categories. The bulk of the awards are handed out at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony. This year, the event was split into two nights.

Saturday night (Sept 9) covered the stuff we’re interested in: Reality, Variety and Documentary.  The Best Guest Actor/Actress awards and more will be presented Sunday (Sept 10). I’ll update this post with the rest of the winners when they become available.

The big winners: RuPaul’s Drag Race won three awards, including Best Reality Host for RuPaul. Hairspray Live! won three technical awards. Additionally, Dancing with the Stars won Outstanding Lighting Design for the show’s Cirque Du Soleil episode. In the Choreography category, it was a tie between  Mandy Moore for DWTS and Travis Wall for So You Think You Can Dance. Plus, American Idol musical director, Rickey Minor won Music Direction for Taking the Stage: African American Music And Stories That Changed America

The Voice didn’t win any technical awards Saturday night, but the show’s producers could walk away with Best Competition Reality show again. That category, along with Best Variety Sketch and Best Variety Talk series will be handed out in Prime Time.

UPDATE:  Sunday night’s awards were mainly scripted show’s technical awards. But the night also included guest actor/actress awards.  Melissa McCarthy won in the Guest Actress Comedy category for her work on Saturday Night Live, including her brilliant and hilarious Sean Spicer impression. Dave Chappell won in the Guest Actor Comedy category for his stint as host on SNL. He delivered a memorable monologue the weekend after Trump’s inauguration.

The 69th Emmy Awards will telecast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Sunday, September 17 (8:00-11:00 PM ET/5:00-8:00 PM PT) on CBS.  The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert will serve as host.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards, an edited version of the two part event, will air Saturday, September 16 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on FXX.
