    Dear David C.,

    O LO!

  • primeminister

Did caffiend attend the rehearsal? I’m curious about the performance order.

  • JP

I can’t wait to hear how David Cook turns “Billie Jean” into a rock song! That should be interesting.

And I can’t picture Brooke singing a Police song. *scratches head*

And it figures that Kristy Lee would sing “God Bless the USA.” I hope she finally goes this week. Blech!

Chikezie ought to be great singing Luther Van Dross.

  • cheese

I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t wait to hear how David Cook turns à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Billie Jeanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ into a rock song! That should be interesting.

Chris Cornell has a slow ballad version of it. Except it’s so slow that I don’t know how David can really get into it properly in 2 minutes. Unless he did something else entirely with it. (As long as he doesn’t do the MJ version or add a harmonica solo, I’m good)

  • phoenixml

i think carly will do an amazing job with total eclipse of the heart

  • Terrie

If Jason Castro were TCO, Dominic Miller would be his accompanist tonight. Dominic is the reason I saw Sting at Universal Studios in 1999. Jason should benefit a la “Hallelujah” from a fairly obscure song.

Carrying over my comments from the previous thread, I think Michael and Carly could be in trouble. Michael really needs to sing from his family jewels and they both need to distinguish themselves tonight.

David Cook continues his string of tweaking familiar songs and I hope it works for him again — or it could be a giant ball o’ flames.

Overall, I’m disappointed at the choices when there were many gems left untouched.

  • ealbino

I have never in my life heard the song little D is singing.. oh man..has anybody?

I think Michael, Carly and David Cook will shine… My “son” is gonna need all his fans tonite to vote.. LOL

Did caffiend attend the rehearsal? I’m curious about the performance order.

She did. I’ll be able to confirm that.

  • just sayin

I just came in to say — what the hell? David Cook is singing Billie Jean by Michael Jackson?? Seriously?

  • manny

I really hope David C does the Chris Cornell version or something like it…nice!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2MgwAJrfXo

  • GwendolynD

I cannot WAIT to see what David C. does with that song!

  • beesims

Goodbye Michael Johns. It was nice knowing you and your glistening beads of Aussie sweat. Somehow I fear that singing a song about proclaiming yourself a champion will seal your doom or at least ilicit a very sarcastic comment from Simon.

Kirsty is playing the patriotic card and it will probably insure another week of torment for us.

I don’t even know what to say about David Archuleta’s choice. I had to go on iTunes because I had never even heard of this song. It was also covered by Heart and Alan Parsons and a bunch of artists that I had never heard of (John Berry? Chris Thompson? John Farnum?) From the little snippet I heard, I can only conclude that it is the cheesiest kind of pop inspirational pablum. Is he trying to suck up to his future producer? Does he really want to convince us that he is a 56 year old trapped in a 17 year old’s body?

  • dancin

omg if david a butchers that song i’ll cry lol

  • Terrie

    Happy birthday to Jason Castro!

    :king_tb:

  • PrplDva

I doubt that’s the order, unless the producers think we are complete morons and won’t notice that David A is in the pimp spot….again.

I cannot WAIT to see what David C. does with that song!”

    ME TOO!!

  • abbysee

Some of the choices are just great. Can’t wait!

  • primeminister

She did. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll be able to confirm that.

Yay! Thank you. I can’t wait to hear her take on it.

  • beesims

“Alone” as sung by Carrie is considered one of the all time top Idol performances. Gina Glocksen tried to so it last year and got very mixed reviews. I don’t know why Ramiele thinks that a third time is going to be a charm.

  • phoenixml

Michael Johns will either do really well or completely blow it. Unfortunately, my guess is the latter. I don’t think he’ll be eliminated though – Ramiele is making a huge mistake sininging a song that was performed so well by Carrie she is definately in trouble. Syesha’s choice is too predictable. Ramiele and Syesha could be in trouble.

  • primeminister

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Aloneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ as sung by Carrie is considered one of the all time top Idol performances. Gina Glocksen tried to so it last year and got very mixed reviews. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t know why Ramiele thinks that a third time is going to be a charm.

Ramiele’s song choices are so uninspired sometimes, I am not sure what to make of her musical instincts. By Season 7, you’d think the contestants would stay clear of songs that have already been “moments.” Elliott’s “I Don’t Wanna Be” was an exception because he ended up putting a cool R&B spin to it, but I don’t think Ramiele’s the type to surprise.

  • moody

I don’t know about Michael Johns doing We are the Champions, reminds me of Ace Young doing We Will Rock You. Doesn’t sound like a wise choice but maybe he can make it work.

I agree that Ramiele better bring it with Alone. I’m not a huge Carrie fan but I loved her version of that song.

  • Chicago-sally

Oh no not GOD BLESS the USA! Wouldn’t you know KLC would choose that song? It’s her “Amazing Grace” comfort zone song.

  • jersey

I like the choice of “Fragile” by Jason Castro. I’m not so sure about “Every Breath You Take” by the Police for Brooke. Who did this song last year, Sligh? He was eliminated that night, right?

  • jpfan

Yahoo home page has a slide show comparing S7 idols to past idols. It’s pretty insane although some are sillier than others.

    Micheal Johns – Constantine
    David Cook – Daughtry (duh)
    Jason Castro – Elliott ???
    Ramiele – Kat????
    David A – Clay

  • MaryS-NJ

Goodbye Michael Johns. It was nice knowing you and your glistening beads of Aussie sweat. Somehow I fear that singing a song about proclaiming yourself a champion will seal your doom or at least ilicit a very sarcastic comment from Simon.

Assuming these are real (but TMZ? grain, salt) – Ugh. And just when Michael was starting to hit his stride vocally… Sigh. This is NOT a singer’s song, it’s a performance song. Michael’s voice is his best asset (well, he’s purty too) but his performances have been sometimes uncomfortable. Then again, he got wide praise for his Bo Rap so maybe he figures this will be another sure thing.

Frankly, I’m not overwhelmed by any of these song choices. “Total Eclipse of the Heart” is probably a good choice for Carly (although I would have liked to hear Brooke sing it) although she’ll probably belt the life out of it, Cher style.

So David C. was born in 1983, not 1982, so we’re safe that there will be no “Eye of the Tiger”. Thank Jeebus! I must go home soon and see what rock band did a cover of Billie Jean before tonight’s performances. J/K

Ramiele is taking a big risk singing “Alone”.

KLC = Desperate. But it’ll buy some votes for the country-lovin’ crowd.

Chikesie’s choice is predictable, but right in his strike zone.

    Syesha goes first. Again. Hmm…

Brooke, Jason, and Ramiele are smack-dab in the middle.

What’s the chance that David Foster got David A. to sing his song? And the pimp spot too! Again.

  • bean99

    Micheal Johns – Constantine

    :shock_tb:

  • poporange

Bring over from other message blog….
Why is Brook and Jason singing “Police” or ” Sting ” song?
Maybe Carly is the tco again got to choose first.
    Not a good feeling.
I wonder if Carly will attack the song like a hungry bear to a nice big old steak?

I wonder if Kristy song will be so cheesy Wisconsin desides to drop the cow and use her instead to promote thier product?….

If Daivid A gets the pimp spot will he wake up in the ocean on his bed ?(like meatballs the movie except a lake)

Seariously -I will be voting tonight to save some contestants because I do not want them leaving bk.(before kristy)

  • primeminister

I like the choice of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Fragileà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by Jason Castro. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m not so sure about à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Every Breath You Takeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by the Police for Brooke. Who did this song last year, Sligh? He was eliminated that night, right?

Phil Stacey. It was excellent- even the judges liked it.

Brooke could have a brilliant performance tonight if changes the song up a bit.

  • primeminister

I wonder if Carly will attack the song like a hungry bear to a nice big old steak?

    LOL!

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

Chris Sligh sang “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic.”

  • jersey

Thanks, MJ, I remembered that as soon as primeminister reminded me that it was Phil that sang EBYT.

ETA: Kristy’s choice is bound to keep her around for another week. Country, patriotic, she’s pandering for votes, but it will probably work. I think Syesha’s in the gravest danger as a result.

  • sciencefan

    Woo-hoo!! :clap_tb:
I love getting the song spoilers early
and I LOVE being able to TALK about them!!!
    Love everybody’s input.
I didn’t know about “Alone”. I hope it works out ok.

    * Syesha Mercado – 1987à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“If I Were Your Womanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  by Stephanie Mills
Great song… sure she’ll do a great job… but darn, she’s going first. This might be the end of Syesha unless she’s REALLY GREAT.

    * David Cook – 1983à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Billie Jeanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  by Michael Jackson
I LOVE this song… looking forward to it.

    * Carly Smithson – 1983à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Total Eclipse of the Heartà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  by Bonnie Tyler
A lot of fans will be happy about this one… great song… I was hoping Brooke would do it. I hope she doesn’t scream through the whole thing.

    * Brooke White – 1983à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Every Breath You Takeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  by The Police
This will be really “unpredictable, so Simon will like it… it should be great!

    * Jason Castro – 1987à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Fragileà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  by Sting
I’m afraid this might be too predictable unless he has another Hallelujah moment.

    * Michael Johns – 1978à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“We Are the Championsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  by Queen
    Michael! No! No! No!

    * Kristy Lee Cook – 1984à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“God Bless the USAà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬  by Lee Greenwood
    Kristy! No! No! No!

  • bigepaz

Whoa. Can’t wait to hear David Cook’s Billie Jean.

Also, if David A. sings his song like the original Aussie Idol did, this could be good:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xpn0cTZp4ms
(scroll to around 3:18 where the singing starts)

  • schmanda

Archu-D2′s song isn’t really a David Foster song, and it strikes me as a bit of a cheat, since I remember the original from the mid-80′s while living in England.

Now, if he’d saved it for a hypothetical “Songs from the Movies” night and said his choice was inspired by its sequence in that cinematic masterpiece Hot Rod, I would power-vote my fingers down to nubs, I tell you, nubs

  • s0x_prisoner

Yahoo said Jason was this year’s Elliott? What? Weird. I thought the Brooke White/John Stevens comparison was strange too.

  • http://http://ladymela99.livejournal.com/ princessmela

I’m not sure any person should sing “Every Breath you take” especially a girl. I know that song freaks me out..

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

I don’t think we know performance order yet. TMZ didn’t really give a particular order, so we’ll see after rehearsals!

    Happy 21st Jason!

David Cook = Chris Sligh Constantine – Chris Daughtry

David Archuleta = Elliott Yamin Claudette Yamin as a ferocious stage mom throughout his whole life

Jason Castro = Andy Sturmer of Jellyfish – A Few IQ Points Marley Dreadlocks 20lbs. of Crest Whitening Toothpaste 50lbs. of Sugary Goodness

    Happy 21st Jason!

A rather depressing song choice for his birthday, wouldn’t you say? Let’s hope he can emotionally connect during tonight’s performance.

  • primeminister

Terrie, the plus signs aren’t showing up on my computer, lol.

  • Nostradamas

Damn….what a snooze fest, trainwreck these “choices” are…….Amanda was lucky she got to leave this pablum filled nightmare……

  • http://www.myspace.com/xmisstarax Miss Tara

Happy 21st Jason! I hope you get drunk after the show. Or perhaps before the show to make it more entertaining.

I fear his song choice will be a tad on the boring side, if he can’t find the connection.

I will power vote no matter the outcome though.

  • sciencefan

My 14 year old son is standing here next to me singing “You’re the Voice”, so I …OH! I KNOW this song! Great song! Good choice David A.!

I was gonna say, the kids know it. :cool1_tb:

Oh dear, Celine did “Alone” also.
Groan… I wonder if Simon knows that.

There’s like 30 videos of people doing “Alone” karaoke in the internet. That’s a bad sign, isn’t it?

I guess WordPress doesn’t like plus signs. Oops!

This is how my message above should have read:

    Hereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s how I see it:

David Cook = Chris Sligh plus Constantine minus Chris Daughtry

David Archuleta = Elliott Yamin plus Claudette Yamin as a ferocious stage mom throughout his whole life

Jason Castro = Andy Sturmer of Jellyfish minus A Few IQ Points plus Marley Dreadlocks plus 20lbs. of Crest Whitening Toothpaste plus 50lbs. of Sugary Goodness

Michael Johns = Michael Hutchence minus Camera Confidence plus Jim Morrison minus Poetic Angst plus Jim Kerr of Simple Minds minus Scottish Brogue plus Classic Tiger Beat Magazine Cover Boy Good Looks

I can see him connecting to the Lyrics of “Fragile”. This is not a song one sways or claps to, so hopefully that will help him stay focused and not distracted by the audience. *crosses fingers*

ETA: Thanks, Terrie. Makes a lot more sense now. Nice assessment!

  • Hisaki

Oh gosh. David Cook with a rock-ified version of Billie Jean? That…should be interesting. He’d better pull it off; otherwise he might end up in the Bottom 3 this week since he’s going second.

I don’t think Michael Johns is doing himself any favors by singing “We Are the Champions”, either. And KLC going all patriotic is just showing how desperate she’s getting.

Wow, Ramiele doing Alone? Damn, that should be good (or hopefully)! And I’m not a Carly fan, but I’m looking forward to her performance of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” tonight.

  • abbysee

Sciencefan, I just listened to You’re the Voice, let me say, Ka-ching! He found an upbeat song, in his inspirational vein, and he can hit this thing totally out of the park!

I think comparing David A to any past contestant is difficult. Clay was a chameleon as half of his schtick was from geek to chic. David is neither geek, nor chic. If anything David A is more like Melinda, great voice, self effacing, consistant and to some (not me) boring.

  • primeminister

Prediction: Randy will give Carly MAJOR PROPS tonight even if she screams through the whole thing. He can’t get enough of the BIG.

  • http://www.idolicious.com Kat

Kristy WOULD choose “God Bless the USA”…and if she makes it to Neil Diamond night, you *know* she’ll sing “America.” She is so transparent, that one.

  • sciencefan

As far as Performance Order goes, TMZ has been placing them in the general correct order. There may have been once or twice when there was a small change. I haven’t kept exact track, but I know it’s approximately correct.

They have a “mole” on the set who attends the dress rehearsal, and then reports the song choices in order of the performance the way they saw it.

  • manny

Syesha’s friend reports that she is going 3rd tonight so this is NOT the performance order.

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

OMG. I am a nervous wreck. Billie effing Jean?

Cheese! Where are you? I need someone to freak out with! :unsure_tb:

  • primeminister

Kristy singing God Bless the USA

    Her voice is so bland.

  • maracaibo

I actually think Michael made a great choice. HE enjoys QUeen obviously and he sings their songs with confidence.
I just hope it finally goes well with the judges. He is going to need all the positive feedback he can get.

IMO he can really shine with that song if he does it properly. He has the voice for it, maybe he can do a soulful version. Sort of like the Gavin De Graw version on the Queen tribute CD.

    http://mx.youtube.com/watch?v=mvbLgZK2_ns

On their latest Idolatry video, EW actually thinks that song would be a good choice for Michael.
Crossing fingers for MJ! He needs a comeback or at least a bit of a moment. Poor guy.

  • KrazeeK120

I’m of the opinion that everyone should have a chance to go last once before anyone gets to go last for a 2nd time. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this will be David A.’s THIRD time going last? Singing a David Foster song? I wonder who they want to win?? And comparing him to Clay…what?? Clay has a much better voice, plus he doesn’t lick his lips every 2 seconds or wheeze between every word. Just an observation.

And I’ll jump on the “Happy Birthday Jason” bandwagon…my sister turns 21 on Thursday. I think they would be a cute couple, but I doubt they will ever meet each other. Sigh.

I think that Michael picked a horrible song, as did KLC. Michael must want to get kicked off. Declaring yourself a champion is not a good way to stay. Too bad for KLC that “Amazing Grace” wasn’t written in 1984.

  • http://stores.ebay.com/BookWomanBlues-Book-Nook Bobbi

Thanks, primeminister! Whoever posted that clip doesn’t even know the name of the song!

  • Kirsten

Syeshaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s friend reports that she is going 3rd tonight so this is NOT the performance order.

They’ve been somewhat consistent on flipping the performance order every week (with a few tweaks). Syesha going 3rd would be consistent with her going 9th last week (out of 11).

If they do a direct flip, here would be the order:

    1. Ramiele
    2. Chikezie
    3. Syesha
    4. Jason
    5. Carly
    6. David C (for the fourth week in a row)
    7. Brooke
    8. Michael
    9. David A
    10. Kristy (I think this would be a tweak where they would put somebody else here. Kristy is not good enough to end the show. Flip her with David A?)

If they have Carly sing last, I would think it was an attempt to save her. If they have her go near the beginning of the performance order, they are giving up on her.

If David A goes last (for the third time in the competition…every two weeks), then I think they might as well start showing him in the title sequence (right between Carrie and Kelly)

  • jersey

    LOL, Kirsten.

  • ianamy

Kirsten, you are so great, haha!

But I think David is already featured in the title sequence. That male idol looks awfully like him. The female one looks like a young Kelly.

  • baxter

Sarah- This is going to be ugly. I just know it. WHY??? WHY???

He even thinks of moonwalking across that stage and I.AM.DONE!!!!

  • http://http://ladymela99.livejournal.com/ princessmela

I just hope that Jason Castro waits till after the show to get drunk..

  • erennick

David Cook is (probably) going to do a version of Billie Jean that was popular a few years ago by some neo-grunge/punk band- anyone remember who they are? I like him a lot and think he always delivers, but I worry about possible backlash from continually borrowing “cool” versions of old songs. I, personally, have no problem with the idols using any version of a song that suits their voices. Rockers are so touchy…

I think Carly could have a great night. I predict that Ramiele gets reamed for doing “Alone.”

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

DCook could REALLY change it up and do the Kanye West version of “Billie Jean” from the 25th anniversary Thriller album. Heh.

(yes, I was listening to that on the way home from work, trying to curb the freakout. It didn’t work so much.)

Gahhhh. Hurry up Carie and Caffiend with the report!!!

Bax – I’m nervous as all hell. Why is he doing this to us?!

  • jersey
  • baxter

Sarah- Obviously he has lost his ever loving mind. Of all the songs to pick from, granted it seems that list grows shorter and shorter every week, he picked a MJ song. UGH!!!

jersey- Please NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo. Not that version. The song choice is awful, imho, and doing the punk/grunge version will make it even worse.

  • Steph

I will be so p&@*ed if that is the performance order. Is it just me, or is David Cook getting the shaft?!?

Someone mentioned rock covers of Billie Jean, and I found a few:

    Punk version by The Bates

Cobra Starship FFW to 1:30 for the song

Foy Vance Live video of a very slow version

Chris Cornell someone already posted this one…also very slow.

That is all of the vidoes I can find. I think The Bates version sounds more like DC’s style (or maybeCobra Starship…what do you guys think??

  • jersey

    LOL bax.

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Good god, I hope he doesn’t do that version by The Bates. Maybe the video just freaked me out a bit much, but that would just be scary.

Gah…. OR the Chris Cornell version either. Ick!

I don’t see this going well no matter which way he goes. Argh!

  • Kirsten

Bax – Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m nervous as all hell. Why is he doing this to us?!

Breath. David C could come out wearing one glove and sporting some new plastic surgery and survive. Heck, he could probably do the Weird Al version of it and still not go home(oops….did Weird Al do a version of “Billie Jean”? I know he did “Beat It” ….”Just eat it, I don’t care if you’re full”…)

He has fans. We all know how this works at this stage. There is still enough fodder that he can coast for a week. David A forgot half his lyrics, lost the melody and looked like he was going to dissolve into a puddle of goo on Beatles Night I. And, all indications are he got the most votes anyway. Idol fans were figure skating judges in their former lives.

So breathe. Eat some Easter chocolates. And, everybody, pop some popcorn. You’ll need something to throw at the TV set when Kristy sings. You don’t want to be damaging your television.

  • Steph

lol sarah…i am nervous for him.

He even thinks of moonwalking across that stage and I.AM.DONE!!!!

you are giving me nightmares. NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO moonwalking. I think he knows better than that…right?

  • baxter

Kirsten…awwww…the voice of reason. Kind of a internet slap across the face. Dayum…I needed that!! Thanks.

“Idol fans were figure skating judges in their former lives.”

Kirsten, as a life long figure skating fan I choked laughing so hard at this!

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Oh Tara, his fanbase is huge. I don’t think you have to worry.

I am shocked (SHOCKED!) that DCook got the pimp spot. But, as we’ve seen, that doesn’t always mean anything. Still nervous as all heck (but thank you for the pep talk Kirsten! That makes me feel a bit better.).

It seems they are trying to save Kristy for Country week by putting her next to last. And trying to get rid of Ramiele or Syesha, methinks.

  • abbysee

Ya’ll are funny, lol. Breathe people, breathe…..he is safe remember he has Kristy as his safety net. No way are they gonna sacrifice him for her! Plus, I think this could be entertaining. I say do it the MJ way, sans moonwalking, he will be fine.

ETA: I am a David A fan, but if he gets the pimp spot this week, I will almost say it’s sabotage, because he won’t be able to get it for a while when he really does something deserving. I don’t want KLC to get it either, maybe Chikeze?

  • cheese

OMG. I am a nervous wreck. Billie effing Jean?

Cheese! Where are you? I need someone to freak out with!

Sorry I couldn’t be here, Sarah. Had to walk the dog while cursing under my breath about David’s song choice. I think it will something inspired by the Chris Cornell version, but hopefully a little more straightforward and a little faster if he’s going to get out of the first verse in his 1:50. If it’s just him and an acoustic guitar, it could be good. Or he could get stoned to death by the “mosh pit”

I’m not so convinced that he’s safe if it’s a trainwreck. Assuming that David A gets eleventy times as many votes as every one else combined, it’s probably pretty easy to fall into the bottom 3.

    Need CarieB’s spoilers. now.

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Carie says that MJ and DCook were “effing fantastic and hot.” Hope that carries over into the live performances.

Can’t wait to see the more detail that I know they provided to MJ.

BILLIE JEAN!?! BILLIE JEAN!?! Really? OHMYGOSH! I’m in a tizzy!

I’m Shocked(!!!!). This can either go one of two ways….GREAT and awe inspiring, or HORRENDOUS.

he does have the pimp spot, however the pimp spot has been extremely lackluster as of recent.

I’m anticipating his performance now SO MUCH. (and slightly afraid) I hope he really takes it somewhere else.

    other notes:

I BET Kristy will be around another week. Too many people love someone singing patriotic songs. She’ll grab some weepy “grandmas” who just think she’s precious with that one. ARGH. How can you kick off someone singing sweet patriotic songs?

Chikezie sounds boring. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes.

Am slightly surprised with Ramiele’s choice. Don’t see it boding well. She’s in a “death spot”

    BILLIE JEAN! Yes, freaking out….

Archu-D2à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s song isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t really a David Foster song, and it strikes me as a bit of a cheat, since I remember the original from the mid-80à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s while living in England.

Now, if heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d saved it for a hypothetical à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Songs from the Moviesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ night and said his choice was inspired by its sequence in that cinematic masterpiece Hot Rod, I would power-vote my fingers down to nubs, I tell you, nubsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

Apparently, David Foster did a cover of it in 1990, so I guess that’s what qualifies it as one of the choices.

LMAO :clap_tb: I think I’d pay money to see that….

David was fantastic. Don’t worry your pretty little heads. Nobody sucked tonight except poor Brooke got assaulted by Bandzilla halfway thru her song. It was a great arrangement – started out slow and then she kinda rocked. Jason didn’t start out great for me but then he nailed – great song choice for him. Ramiele really hit the glory notes on “Alone” and I even liked Ramiele tonight. Michael Johns FINALLY stepped it up and was in his zone. Great. David A’s song I had never heard. Good vocal but couldn’t really get into it because I wasn’t at all familiar. Chikezie was terrific on the Luther song. KLC was stiff as a board but good vocal. She and Syesha were the weakest but again, nobody was terrible. Did I miss anyone? Did I tell you they have faux judges at the rehearsal? Too funny. See you in chat.

    My 14 year old son is standing here next to me singing à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re the Voiceà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ , so I à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦OH! I KNOW this song! Great song! Good choice David A.!

    I can breathe now..Thanks sciencefan.

  • bean99

Thanks for the review, CarieB. I feel better about Michael’s and David C’s choices.

  • Hisaki

OH YES, DAVID COOK HAS THE PIMP SPOT THIS WEEK! :D Ahhh, I’m really anticipating his performance now. It’s really only going to go either way, so I hope he does well…

Seems Brooke’s going to fall again, though, now.

  • milajoy

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m of the opinion that everyone should have a chance to go last once before anyone gets to go last for a 2nd time. Correct me if Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m wrong, but this will be David A.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s THIRD time going last? Singing a David Foster song? I wonder who they want to win?? And comparing him to Clayà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦what?? Clay has a much better voice, plus he doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t lick his lips every 2 seconds or wheeze between every word. Just an observation.

David COOK is going last…not David Arch

  • vixen

    will dcook be playing guitar??

I’m disappointed about Jason. He really got “spanked” by Simon. Ouch!

Michael Johns finally sang the whole way through a song on pitch!
    Good for him!

Too bad nobody pointed out that it was karaoke/predictable. He didn’t change it at all. I will never understand Randy and Simon.

  • Trina

I think Michael just had his moment!

  • sciencefan

Just for the record, my 14 year old son said David A. was “flawless”. He LOVED it!

  • thedingoateyobaby

My two cents….David cook absolutely effing rocked. he was brilliant IMO. I wasnt even a big fan of his but man, give the devil his due, he was freaking awesome.

I love castro but he has not allowed himself to really take me “there” except when he did Hallelujia. He has got to just let it go, I know he can and finally, Jesus God please, throw KLC under a bus. Any effing bus will do.

Archuletta was fantastic as always and I loved his song but it may have gone over a lot of heads. No problem, he’s in no danger anyways. He could have sung the oscar Mayer hot dog song and he would still get the majority of votes from the little tykes. God how I hate those kiddies.

  • PrplDva

Ramiele Malubay – Aloneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by Heart- she wasnt boring
    Jason Castro – à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Fragileà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by Sting – very nice
    Syesha Mercado – à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“If I Were Your Womanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by Stephanie Mills – over her-seems so phony
    Chikezie – à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“If Only For One Nightà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by Luther Vandross – meh
Brooke White – à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Every Breath You Takeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by The Police -nice
    Michael Johns – à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“We Are the Championsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by Queen – FINALLY, a decent performance
Carly Smithson – à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Total Eclipse of the Heartà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by Bonnie Tyler – good when she wasnt SCREAMING
David Archuleta – à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re the Voiceà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by David Foster- OK-but did you notice that the camera panned away in between almost every phrase- did someone mention the lip-licking?
Kristy Lee Cook – à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“God Bless the USAà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by Lee Greenwood -Gack!-ruined, yet another song for me
    David Cook – à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Billie Jeanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ by Michael Jackson – FREAKING AWSOME!!!!!!I’ve replayed it 6 times already!

  • abbysee

Dingo, I would love to throw KLC under a bus, but she sang about America so America will not vote for her and save her for Dolly week, sh*^!

Archuletta is fantasic, the song was an obscure one and the hurt him, but not enough for his fans (me) to be worried. I am one of those oldish tykes voting, lol!

The thing is this young kid is from a religious family and the inspirational songs resonate with him. I don’t think he quite gets that he needs to do something different because so far it has paid off for him. It sucks to be good in a mediocre world when the Kristie and others get by on their mediocrity.

  • abbysee

I guess it seems that Syesha has been saving it for the live show the last two weeks.

  • thedingoateyobaby

Abbysee, I love Archuletta and honestly, I dont consider his songs as much religious as I do inspirational (as you pointed out) with undertones of anti war/anti violence within them. I like him very much and IMO, he has the most beautiful voice of all. I dont vote for him cause I know all the young girls will take care of him.

Your right about KLC and Simon pointed out what a smart choice of song it was cause she can only stay in with the stale old patriotism act. if people are dumb enough to vote for her cause she was sly enough to sing what is argueably the most patriotic song of all time, then they deserve her.

Still, for me, david cook was the best of the rest tonight. Im annoyed with castro cause I know he can hammer out a song, I know he can “send me”, he did it a little bit with Hallelujia, I want him to do it over again. If he cant replicate it then maybe he’s a one hit wonder on Idol and I expected too much from him. he has a nuance about him which could really be gold if he knew how to use it more.

For the record, for me Simon has been spot on all season long with his critique.

  • abbysee

Dingo, I a bit worried about Jason, I loved his Hallelujah, but not much else. Unless he sends me next week I think he is toast, even though some Dolly for him could be mad good! LOL!

KLC, if Dolly has a song about Jesus or the apostles, she will sing it and live on to ruin more songs another day.

David C was the best tonight, I felt him big time. I voted for David A cause I am nuts for him, and Syesha because I thought she was really good and need more votes than David A, or C.

  • sciencefan

Jason is awesome and I am ready to buy his album! I love his light airy style. It’s like Paula said – he knows who he is as an artist and he picks songs that suit him perfectly. They’re not all that flashy, but neither is he. He’s actually kind of shy, so it’s amazing he’s doing as well as he is.

That said, I stood at my kitchen wall phone and voted for him for about an hour and 15 minutes – or about 600 times.

No, he wasn’t the best tonight, but I still want him in the Top 4.

  • judy

THE NIGHT BELONGED TO DAVID COOK. and Michael Johns. I thought they were both freaking fantastic. Michael, Michael, Michael, you’ve came back!! His two killer notes at the end just knocked me out. And I loved his face listening to the judge’s comments. David just simply kicked ass.

and my other favorites, Jason and Jacuzzi. Although I did love Jason’s performance tonight, he needs to kick it up about four notches and come out fighting. But I wonder if he can – he’s such a laid back guy. I thought Chicazee was fantastic tonight and totally disagreed with Simon and Randy. He was soulful, passionate and his voice sounded great. I guess they don’t want him to win.

Ramiele started off great and kind of fell apart.

Syesha had her best performance yet.

Brooke was good. It looked like she really wanted to start blabbing to the judges in her Brooke way, but kept stopping herself.

Little David was good, but could have picked a much better song that was more familiar. I never heard that song. I wonder if his father picked it and if Simon’s remark that he was sure that little David didn’t pick it was targetted to the dad.

Kristy was smart in picking that song as sappy as I think it is. She is going for the country vote. Good thinking, Kristy.

And my “favorite” Carly. To be fair, it was a good start, too much screaming in the middle and the end sucked big time. She is so desperate to get her “big moment” and the praise she thinks she deserves and, once again, she didn’t. I almost, almost, felt sorry for her, but not quite.

I just watched David Cook again. I can’t believe how excellent he was. His voice was absolutely outstanding tonight. He was controlled, didn’t go over the top. Great, great performance. After reading comments on other boards, the only thing I think will stop him from winning is people (not me) don’t seem to like that he uses other people’s arrangments even though they are all credited. They are all questioning the original and brave comments from the judges.

Other thoughts – I’m not liking the background singers this year. And, yes, David Cook had a pretty big head when he was little. Jason gets cuter each week. Little David seemed more relaxed tonight. My new top three is Jason, Michael and David Cook. Brooke has a hot dad.

  • cricket

Michael Johns and David Cook were fantastic.
Brooke was very good but that band needs to butt out occasionally , they were just too loud and drowned out the performance.
David A. gets on my nerves. He is prone to “preachy” songs and I’m losing all interest in him at all. If I want to be preached at I’ll go to church . Simon was correct for a change . His song choices are horrible. This kid can sing but I am seeing him on stage in the middle of six flags and not so much a major recording artist.
The judges were much too hard on Carly , she did a fine performance of that song.
Jason , I don’t get him. He has had one really good performance but the rest meh.
I know it will never happen but I sure would like to see the little preacher go home.
