The Voice 9 Changes: Major Tweaks to Elimination Format Results in Blood Bath

According to a series of NBC press releases, one contestant will be eliminated from The Voice every week, until the Semifinal results on December 7. At that time, Nine contestants will be whittled down to four, who will go on to compete in the final on December 14. The new The Voice champ will be crowned on December 15.

There are only five weeks of Finals competition. Here’s how it will go down, according to NBC:

Monday November 23 – The Top 11 perform
Tuesday November 24 – One contestant is eliminated
Monday November 30 – The Top 10 perform
Tuesday December 2 – One contestant is eliminated
Monday December 7 – Semi-Final Performances – The top nine artists perform live in front of coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams for America’s votes.
Tuesday December 8 – America will vote to eliminate five artists and the final four will compete in the Live Finale.
Monday December 14 – The Final Four perform for your votes
Tuesday December 15 – The Voice 9 winner is revealed

As you can see, the semi-finals will be an ugly blood bath. But at least until then, fewer of our favorites will be eliminated. What do you think of the new format?
