Taylor Hicks Leaves Grease

As of Sunday night, Taylor Hicks , is done with Broadway, at least for now.   He’s headed back home to work on his next album of original songs, due out in the first quarter of ’09.

His final night with the Broadway company of Grease Sunday ended with a special curtain call and after party. Fellow Idols attending the party:Â   New Grease cast member, Ace Young, who debuts in the role of Kenickie Sept 11 and Constantine Maroulis who is slated to star in the Off-Broadway musical, Rockstar, opening next month.

    They all look good. I’m glad they have had a chance to go beyond recording. The stigma of “doing Broadway” no longer resonates with most people.

    I wasn’t on board at first for Taylor on Broadway, but it has been a **good thing** for him. Good reviews, great publicity and new fans. Can’t wait for the next album!
