Paris and Tony are eliminated. - VIDEO

The right two dancers went home.   Tony was the weakest of the 20, even his personality couldn’t make up for it. And Paris had the double wammy of weak performance plus no screen time. She was doomed.

Adam says he received thousands of twitters in support of Tony and Paris.

Back from break, the judges are back at their table, they are ready to make their cuts.   The judges are unanimous with their cuts for the girls.   Nigel says Karla’s solo was strong, but she needs to be careful it isn’t just a series of steps, and that she brings her own personality.   The judges felt Karla did enough to remain in the competition. Karla is SAFE.   Now, it down to Asuka and Paris.   Nigel explains that the decision isn’t just what they saw this evening, but everything they know about the dancers, plus casting is taken into consideration.   He tells Asuka it’s difficult when all she’s got going for her is a Latin ballroom and Jive plus personality. He tells Paris that she didn’t bring everything she could, and that comparing her to all the other contemporary dancers in the show, the judges decided to eliminate her.   Paris gets a hug from Cat and a goodbye video set to Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone”.

Again, the judges are in total agreement for the guys.   The judges   didn’t think any of the guys danced very well tonight, and that none of them were good enough to stay in the competition for very long. “Vitolio, last night and tonight, we never saw the personality we know you have.” says Nigel.   They decide to give Vitolio another chance, with a warning that he has to regain the personality they saw in Vegas.  Ãƒâ€š  Ãƒâ€š   Nigel felt both Tony and Jonathan biffed it, despite dancing in their genres, but Jonathan was better than Tony the night before.   Nigel goes on to criticize Tony’s locking. He also criticizes Jonathan’s dancing, but feelt his gymnastics made up for it.   In the end, they decide to keep Jonathan. Tony is going home. A very disappointed Tony gets a goodbye set to “On Your Own” by Green River Ordinance. And we’re out…

Ah, she got me scared for Philip and Jeanine. I was ready to scream… Not Fair!!

  • fwtx

    oops

  • fwtx

Not a fan of the opening number . . .

  • butte009

So glad to see Shane Sparks’ routines again! Just awesome.

I love the SYTYCD group routines! :clap_tb:

  • Sunshinegirl

So glad that Caitlin, Jason, Phillip, and Jeanine are all safe!

  • fwtx

    SAVE JONATHAN!

  • wonderings

Random: Jonathan reminds me of Jason Castro, but with shorter, darker hair. Especially when he smiles.

  • butte009

Amazingly, I think America got the bottom three couples right. Can’t wait to see the solos!

  • wonderings

Not great Paris & Tony — I think they’re gone as a pair.

  • wonderings

Shirtless solo wins over the dude dressed like a golfer.

Plus Vitolio’s solo was just better. Amazing amplitude on the leaps & really tight turns…and I think they’ll keep a ballroom dancer over one of the many contempo girls.

  • butte009

    I agree with you Wonderings….

WTF is that noise coming form my tv now?

  • fwtx

Wow – I never thought I’d hear someone worse than Michael Sarver – and the SYTYCD showed me Sean Kingston . . .

  • nad

I think Asuka and Tony should be out….Jonathan should def stay!!!

Wow – I never thought Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d hear someone worse than Michael Sarver – and the SYTYCD showed me Sean Kingston . . .

Sadly there are alot of ppl in the music industry who are worse than Michael Sarver…

  • leome

    Sean Kingston was awful!
The solos weren’t that great, were they? I liked Vitolio’s.

  • fwtx

    Good Job Judges

  • butte009

    The right ones went home.

  • Jocelin

    Absolutely right decision, imo.

  • wonderings

No, the solos weren’t great tonight.

    ( Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone” over Paris’ package… )

Tonight, the voters got the B3 right & the judges sent the right two home, imho.

All pairs remain intact for next week – can’t wait!

  • leome

Yeah, American did it right, judges did it right! Bring on next week.

  • smartcookie

Paris was the girl I wanted to go home. Fingers crossed the boy is Tony. I want Vitolio and Jonathan to have another chance.

Yay for Vitolio. Betta bring it next week, V. And yay for Jonathan, too. Somebody had to go, and Tony (who reminds me of Antonio Banderas in looks, if not dancing) just didn’t bring it IMO.

I think as soon as they mentioned wanting to keep different types, Paris knew her number was up, and I think as soon as they booted Paris, Tony knew his number was up.

  • Sunshinegirl

    Kelly Clarksonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Already Goneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ over Parisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ packageà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

Oh yeah! You’re right! I just got her CD yesterday so I’m not as familiar with all the songs yet, but I thought it sounded familiar. I’d love for someone to choreograph a dance to one of Kelly’s songs, perhaps Cry from the latest CD. What an amazing song!

  • lilbrusc102

I think they sent the right 2 home tonight. Love that Shane Sparks is back, but I tend to like the group numbers better when there aren’t so many dancers still on.

Random: Jonathan reminds me of Jason Castro, but with shorter, darker hair. Especially when he smiles.

    I totally see it!!!

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

I think the right decision was made tonight when you look at their performance and put it up next to the performances of the other 9 couples. I think it made theirs stand out like a sour thumb so to speak.

  • gangreen29

I almost wish Jonathan had gone home instead of Tony, I thought the group dance tonight really showed how weak the guys are in hip hop this season, and something about Jonathan just kind of creeps me out, and I don’t know why. Paris was the right decision though, she was way over her head.

  • Dr. Tracey

The group numbers on this show are so much better than the AI ones.
That mute button on my remote was put there especially for performers like Sean Kingston.
I’m glad Paris and Tony went home, I think Asuka and Vitolio were in the bottom because of the choreography, i’m glad they are staying so they at least get a chance to show us something else and I like Johnathan and Karla enough to want to see more from them too.

  • poporange

I watched parts of tonights episode glad Evan was safe…Also in chat I get the vibe/hint..

  • js

    Sean Kingston… is that music?
Anyway this season is so much fun. Hope they get a new choreographer for hiphop. Not a fan of Nappytabs&Sparks…

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Yep, I totally crashed and burned in the pool this week. At least I got all the bonus points. lol.

I missed the show because I was seeing Stomp with a friend. Is anything worth watching other than the group routine (yayyyyyy Shane Sparks!!)? I’m trying to decide if I want to watch it tonight. I think I’m just gonna watch some of the game (Go Magic!) and then go to sleep lol. I’m exhausted.

  • canadiandcfan

although i think the judges made the right decision, i’m still sad to see Tony go. I really think his onscreen relationship with Cat was awesome. ahh well, my faves are all still there :)
    i’m really loving this show!

  • sma11ie

    Kelly Clarksonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Already Goneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ over Parisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ packageà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

I caught that and came to comment but wonderings beat me to it. Not familiar with the show– do they use the same song each week for away packages or stick to the same one(s) like with Idol? I noticed the dude’s song was different, so wondering if they have one for the guy, one for the girl that they reuse. Cuz Already Gone sounded really perfect for this sorta thing.

  • smartcookie

These are the ones I remember…

    3 seasons ago:
“Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall for the girls
“The End of the Road” by Matt Goss for the boys

    2 seasons ago:
“I Will Remember You” by Ryan Cabrera for the girls
“Goodbye” by Audio Adrenaline for the boys

    Last season:
“It’s Only Life” by Kate Voegele for the girls
“Best Days” by Graham Colton for the boys

So, yes, different ones for boys than girls, and yes, the same ones all season. At least that’s my recollection.

  • NOLA

    The right ones went home.

  • lakerchristinee

Glad that Paris went home. I’m from Seattle and my friends went to the same dance studio as her and said she was a conceited bitch who put on the fake goody-goody attitude for the show.

  • quinsins

did any one notice caitlin’s abs of steel? lol!! that girl is ripped!! no wonder bollywood was just easy for her!

and judges got it right tonight! although i kinda feel bad for paris.. she does have talent, but alot more dancers are better than her…

  • lifeisfun

I got that really wrong in the polls, but out of the people in i think they made the right choice. i bet Vitolio and Auska probably got the lowest number of votes I think.

  • callitags

I’ll admit I don’t know that much about dance, aside from what I like and what moves me. I, like Cat, got chills when Vitolio did his solo. I just thought he was beautiful. So, when the judges came back and said none of the boys were good, I just threw up my hands. I know they have specific criteria they’re looking for that I apparently don’t understand at all. I can buy that it wasn’t the best that he can do, but not good at all? Argh!

  • golcook

I really thought Asuka and Tony were the ones to go home, but Asuka was awesome tonight, her performance was fierce!!!

America… Thank you, you got it totally right!!!!!

  • movin2thabeet

I, too, think the voters got it right with the bottom 3. The judges made a good call although I think both Jonathan and Asuka could have gone just as easily. Actually all of the remaining four seem to be weaker dancers than the others so it wouldn’t surprise me to see them also leave in the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, Sean Kingston. He, who got all suicidal over ‘Beautiful Girls’, all because of a beat attached to the classic melody of ‘Stand by Me’. The guy doesn’t really have much talent but he has alot of connections, and now, a boatload of money. Hopefully, now exposed, for the poser that he really is.

And now, hopefully we’ll see a Wade group number and some amazing choreography from Mia.

  • weelassie

Sat down for the first time today to watch the show and after a few minutes we get a horrendous thunderstorm and the rest of the show became all about the weather. How fair is that? Thanks MJ for posting the vids!

  • Sunn

I thought they made the right choice wit the boys, I never saw much in Tony. But with the girls I thought Asuka should have been the one to go home tonight. I find her style stilted and unchanging, and her personality artificial.
Oh well on to next week.

  • sillypraguer

Actually all of the remaining four seem to be weaker dancers than the others so it wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t surprise me to see them also leave in the next couple of weeks.

This. Asuka and Vitolio better than Karla and Jonathan, but all in all they seem weaker than the others. Caught myself wishing that one of my favs had been in the bottom 3 so we could see a decent solo.

  • geekygirl

Yea, I got points! Lucky guesses as I thought they were all awesome. But I think the right ones probably went home. I’d like to see Asuka and Vitolio have another chance, I thought they danced their routine well, it just wasn’t all that as a routine!

Ohhhh, this is gonna be a great season if the start is anything to go by!

  • http://stores.ebay.com/BookWomanBlues-Book-Nook Bobbi

I got half the points, because I was stupid and second guessed myself on the guys. Oh well. I do think they made the right choices.

Why is Sean Kingston popular? That is horrendous!

  • catbella

I’m friends with Ryan Kasprzak on Facebook — he just posted a video saying he’s auditioning for Season 6! He won’t be at liberty to say anything more about it after that. But yay!

  • Sunshinegirl

There’s something about Asuka that rubs me the wrong way. She seems so artificial to me. Maybe I haven’t seen enough of her to say for sure, but so far, that’s the vibe I get. I remember being disappointed that she made it in over the other girl in Vegas, but I guess they figured they had too many contemporary dancers, which might the case. But still, I just don’t get anything from Asuka that comes across as genuine so far.

  • http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=iamthepurplewalrus&view=videos purplesmile

I didn’t manage to comment on yesterday’s performances thread so I’ll say here instead that I loved the hip hop routine of Phillip and Jeanine and loved Evans and Randi (who reminds me of a less ditzy Kellie Pickler, heh). I’m therefore glad they are all safe (although we knew of course they would be.). :)

I also enjoyed the other routines, especially the crash test dummies one, that of Melissa and Ade’s, and the samba (was that by Kathleen and Max?). The Bollywood number was great, too. This is turning out to be a really exciting season, one that I can get into.

A little OT…I think these inmates can also dance some Jai(l) Ho. Heh.

  • hcpoirot

For the first time in SYTYCD history, there is only one rapper or popper in the Top 18. They should choose a better hip hop dancer than Tony to represent. Or maybe there are nobody better than Tony this year?

Phillip will have a very good chance to at least make it to top 10 cause he is the sole hip hop/popper left. The votes will keep him in. Even if he was in bottom 3, he will be saved by the judges. cause his solo was just that good. And they need at least one hip hop dancer in the tour.

I had agree with the judges that the solos are not that good. (Comparing of so many solos I seen In all SYTYCD series , USA, Australia and Canada) The two pairs remaining had to pray they got a very good choreo and dance very well next week to save themselves.

  • Dlynne

But with the girls I thought Asuka should have been the one to go home tonight. I find her style stilted and unchanging, and her personality artificial.

I don’t care for her. I was fine with her until she danced her solo. To me, it seemed too much like a strip tease act. Not to mention the way she acted like she was posing for a photo shoot when she came to stand in front of the judges. It just turned me off.

  • sunchick

For the first time in SYTYCD history, there is only one rapper or popper in the Top 18.

I think that’s because last season we kind of OD’d on hip hop. Plus there’s ABDC now and they syphon a lot of the hip hop talent I would imagine.

Anyway, I was okay with Tony going home, although I would have been okay with Jonathan going home too. Neither of them have impressed me at all.

For the girls, I figured they’d give Asuka a chance to stick around and hopefully show what she can do in her own style, like a Comfort 2.0 situation. It’s rare for them NOT to bump a couple in the first round. Sorry Paris, you’ll always have Vegas.
