Saturday Night Live managed to deliver one last dig to Donald Trump before holiday hiatus. I feel a tweet storm coming! Once again Alec Baldwin plays the president-elect in yet another unsparing cold open.
As Trump and his wife Melania settle in to celebrate the holiday, pal Vladimir Putin (Beck Bennett) pays an unexpected holiday visit. First, he tries to bug the place. Then, Trump’s pick for Secretary of State, Exxon’s Rex Tillerson (John Goodman) drops by unexpectedly. He and Putin whip out a map and begin planning a world takeover. Meanwhile, Trump doesn’t mind being left out of the convo. As long as the compliments keep coming and they promise to crush Vanity Fair, he’s cool with it.
At this point the SNL writers are purposely trolling Trump for a reaction.
SNL writers manage to turn the plot of the 2003 British holiday film Love Actually into a plea to Trump electors to change their vote. Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon) drops by the electors house with a pile of cue cards. If only.
Host Casey Affleck and musical guest Chance the Rapper perform one last ode to outgoing president Barack Obama. Casey plays a street dancin’ Jesus. He’s the whitest guy in the room!
And just for funsies–fellow Boston peeps are going to love this Dunkin Donuts bit with Casey Affleck. He plays “Donny” a “real” Dunkin’ Donuts customer. Wicked hilarious.
