    Go Crush!

  • FolkFan

So DC officially has his first #1. Go, Cookie!

  • Jolene

Yay for #1 in AC for the magic rainbow that could!

So is this the first Idol single to have a #1 on any format, or did I hear incorrectly?

  • spritely

I’m relieved that it finally got the official “published” nod, after more than a week of bouncing in and out of #1 on the rolling charts. So now he really can officially claim a #1 in radio airply, yay!

    On to Oprah. . .

DA is making steady progress on AC and HAC, which is normal for those slower charts, but he’s doing really great on Top40. I don’t know if he can get way up high–come on, Little Crush That Could!–but as someone said earlier, he’s a lock for at least top 20.

Yay Kristy Lee broke top 40! Imagine what she could do if she was being marketed properly!

Just to be clear, the above are the Rolling charts. I put a notice up last week saying that we would be switching until further notice. That said, TOML is #1 on the Mediabase AC Published charts (Published September 6th).

So is this the first Idol single to have a #1 on any format, or did I hear incorrectly?

It depends how you define “first Idol single”. There have been lots of singles from Idols that have gone number one on a variety of formats (Carrie probably has the most). I believe that this is the first Idol coronation single to go to number one.

Wow! Per Oprah, Magic Rainbows is the signature song of the Olympics…He’s 57 on iTunes as of now. Will be interesting to see if and how that changes.

  • Trina

HOLY CRAP! That was one hell of a showcase for the little magic rainbow that could!

CORRECTION: It won’t let me edit my comment. He’s 63 on iTunes…57 was yesterday.
