Glee’s Matthew Morrison released his debut self-titled album this week,and you can watch Matt perform songs from the new disk at his AOL Sessions.

The set includes:”Summer Rain”, “Over the Rainbow”, “My Name”, “Don’t Stand So Close to Me/Young Girl”, and “Still Got Tonight”, plus Behind-the-scenes footage and an interview. (Watch)

After the jump, Matt performs his new single, “Still Got Tonight” a song written by Season 8 Idol winner, Kris Allen along with Andrew Frampton and Stephen Allen Kipner. The tune will be featured on the Glee Season finale, set to air May 24.

    If I were Kris, I woulda saved that puppy for my own self. Catchy chorus.

    Maybe because Kris knows/ feels that he has better songs for his second album.

    Yes, the chorus is pretty catchy, but Let It Rain has a catchy chorus, actually the whole song is great. But, somehow Kris does not want to sing that one. Maybe there is a tiny bit similarities between the two in term of slow and then rising chorus. I have to re-watch the two songs again.

    I think that Let It Rain would be fine as an AI coronation song, but it’s not the type of song that I would expect to hear on the radio. In contrast, Still Got Tonight is pretty much the only song on Matthew Morrison’s album that stands a chance of getting a significant amount of airplay.

    I am glad that Kris didn’t record it, because there are too many songs that sound like this one on his debut album.

    You are right Elliegrll, the song probably was done / written a long time ago and ready for the first album. And Kris just did not record it.
    Eventhough the song itself is not groundbreaking, I really believe that Kris as a songwriter is getting better and better.

    Here is a longer cut of the MTV interview with Matt & Kris.
    So Matt may be on Idol, I hope to sing SGT. Wish it was Kris singing but Kris will probably at least be at the show.
