Pharrell and Jermaine Dupri stopped by “106 & Park” on Friday to introduce their new artist, American Idol Season 2 alum, Leah LaBelle. Not that she mentioned her Idol affiliation in her interview with the BET peeps. Heh.
Leah talked about the very first time she met Pharrell–she sweet talked her way into a N.E.R.D. show. She informed the hitmaker that he would be producing her first album.
Leah was at the music countdown show to drop off the video for her first single, “Sexify.” “We wrote it based on Cosmopolitan cover titles, so it’s very girl-friendly, fun,” she explained. “The video’s a day in the life of a girl getting ready for a night out with your boy, your girls, or yourself.”
At the end of the interview, fellow guest, Justin Bieber, surprised her, offering the newbie some advice: “Make sure to keep family and friends really close to you because at the end of the day, those are the people that are gonna keep you grounded.”
