LOS ANGELES, CA - DECEMBER 04: Singer Kris Allen attends 'Trevor Live at The Hollywood Palladium' held at the Hollywood Palladium on December 4, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by JC Olivera/WireImage) *** Local Caption *** Kris Allen;Things seem to be gearing up for Kris Allen’s next CD, set to be released in 2012. According to radio guy, Tony Knapp, RCA publicity exec, Joe Riccitelli revealed in an online chat, that Kris is “cutting (recording) now, looking for single first quarter.” Riccitelli added, “I love me some Kris.”

On the Trevor Live red carpet Sunday night Kris told Entertainment Weekly, that “We’ve moved past the writing process mostly and have moved onto the recording portion.”

“I’ve been working a lot with Tim Pagnotta, who produced and wrote some of the last Neon Trees album.”

Kris is particularly excited about a new track called “Out Alive,” which he believes “has possible single potential,” but too soon to tell.

Hm. Kris name checked that little ditty in an interview with Hollywire on the Halo orange carpet, back at the end of October. He must really like it! We’ll see if the record label agrees.

Kris told Pacific Rim Video press that hopefully that he’ll get something out “really early next year” and that he hopes to hit the road in the spring of 2012.

“Hollywood Is Not America” did well too.

That song didn’t do well.  Thankfully, it was dropped for the final round of live shows.

“Hollywood is Not America” wasn’t “dropped”. It was only intended to be used for the Hollywood rounds.

I hope the boot song isn’t a cover, I know it will be but it is such a stupid decision. I think David C would have been helped a lot more to have a single of his be the boot song instead of some cover. Lauren’s The Middle would be a great choice.

I agree with everything you’re saying.  I hope the boot song will be off someone’s actual album and not some warmed-over cover song from years ago that Fuller feels nostalgic about.  I love The Middle, that would be a nice choice.

ellegrill, my statement about Ferras song was, “Or maybe ‘Hollywood is not America’ did well too. I was questioning if any boot song, since “Home” has done well. A partial quote, taken out of context, can change the whole meaning of the OPs statement!

That article is one of the most positive articles I’ve ever read. Who wouldn’t want an interviewer to bring up lackluster sales and ask fans if they’re tired of him yet,, or Suggest he is a one hit wonder of a cover song no less, or lump him with artists recently dropped by their label.

I’d frame this if I were Kris.

So happy for this awesome news and can’t wait! I needed his music yesterday! I think like what he did on AI8, Kris will really need to count on himself and his music as we already know that he can’t count on his promo team or whoever/whatever. He will need seriously good music or hit singles(s) (which I think he is capable of) to sell the CD and get a chance to show everyone who he really is and about. I love me some Kris!

LOL, and I was just answering your question.  And I was trying to voice my opinion that the song wasn’t the boot song for the final round, and that it is a crappy song.

I don’t think it matters if the boot song is a cover, because a song that people recognize, whether that’s because it’s getting airplay or someone else performed it, is going to do better than one that people are only exposed to once a week for about a minute or two.

It’s ok.. I think it’s article like this that drives Kris to excel even more.. I believe he is a fighter, a very good one actually, and that’s 1 of the reasons I love him and am very proud of him.

The EW article just proves what I’ve known since 2009 is that Kris has very few champions in the media. And I do think that he has to something to prove on the second album. I’m confident that Kris has the musicality and drive to do it.

All that really matters in the end is that Kris has good radio songs on the new album, same deal with just about every artist.  He’s been writing for this album for a long time & Jive then RCA obviously has heard his material and feels confident enough in it to proceed.  I’m sure they’ve run a few demos by some radio types and feel confident.  It would be naive to think RCA hasn’t heard Kris’ new material every step of the way and that they are behind it.  Otherwise, why invest in the project?

Some negative articles in the press or swarms of people posting negative comments on articles aren’t going to impact whether or not radio plays Kris’ songs. I’m sure the negative comments on the EW article and in other places on the web from detractors come as no surprise to Kris’ management or label.  Ultimately, if the songs are good & radio plays Kris, he’ll be fine.

Negative press and comments haven’t hurt Kanye West, Justin Bieber, or every other artist in the industry.  The whole thing is just part of the industry that every artist has to deal with.

New Kris music! !!!11!!! That’s all I have to say

    Well said! Can’t wait!

Yeah I know. I was trying to get across that he used one of The Script’s songs, and his music has a cool “Pop-rock/soul” vibe like theirs too, and he should keep that vibe on his next CD. Those guys Frampton and Kipner wrote “Written all over my face” too which is my most favorite along with “Heartless” – and I have more favorites on his CD, but I like all the songs.

I’m kind of sorry I gave that EW article a hit. Flip side is that I am glad they took the time to interview Kris and I’m very interested in hearing ‘Out Alive’. Second time Kris has mentioned that song and it’s very rare for him to give anything up. He likes to play it close to the vest.

I’m jazzed about the new album.

Ha I asked my son who is also in his 20′s about CD’s & he loves the physical product as to his ears it sounds better than just downloading off i-Tunes -so maybe to the music purists they will always buy CDs.Then I asked my daughter also in her 20′s & she mostly buys singles on i-Tunes but will buy the whole album if its cost effective ie if she likes more than 4 songs on an album its cheaper to buy the whole album than 5 or more single songs.
So Kris just needs to have many great songs on his album for young ones like my daughter to buy it as a whole. I am confident this will be the case.

A lot of the same Jive execs who previewed the song(s) to radio pds in July are on staff at RCA including the head guy King Joe.  So RCA was already well aware of the music Kris was working & already had heard some of it.  According to Toby some of those songs were already set to be on the album.

I’m sure your son is right about music sounding better on a physical CD, and my son is not a musical purist but I think  he represents the typical buyer.I’ve loved Kris from the moment I saw him on my TV .He’s just a very special person.  I’m sure his album will be wonderful and there will be lots of great singles on it.
