Kelly Ckarkson has pulled out of Lilith Fair in Minneapolis, MN on July 18. There’s no official word why Kelly is off the line-up, but reports that the all-female tour is experiencing sluggish sales could be a factor.

Norah Jones is off the tour due to canceled dates. Along with cancellations, the tour has moved to smaller venues in some cities.

According to Canada’s Globe and Mail, dates in West Palm Beach and Tampa, FL, Birmingham, AL, Houston and Dallas TX have been canceled.

Tickets range from $10 to $250 each, with most in the $36 to $133 range.

Kelly’s website, has her listed for 14 Lilith dates. The Minneapolis (7/18), Detroit (7/21) and Montreal (7/23) no longer have “Buy Tickets” buttons next to their listing. (corrected)

There has been no official word of cancellations from the Lilith Fair organizers.  Along with Kelly, the tour features Erykah Badu Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow, and Rihanna among others.

The original Lilith tour ran from 1997 to 1999.

Kelly will be replaced in Minneapolis by the Courtyard Hounds (Dixie Chicks’ Martie Maguire and Emily Robison).

Bummer for Kelly’s Minnesota fans :(

Wait – where is it confirmed about Lilith in Denver being canceled?

What I’m noticing is on Kelly’s site there are 3 shows including Minneapolis that no longer have a Buy Tickets link: Minneapolis, Montreal, and Detroit. I know 2 of those 3 were moved to smaller venues. Was Detroit moved too? I wonder if that means Kelly’s out of the lineups in those cities too. The dates are in a cluster: July 18th, July 21st, and July 23rd. But it looks like Kelly’s still at the Indianapolis show July 20th and the Toronto show July 24th.

Is it the economy? Is it the industry? Is it the performers? I just don’t understand how this line-up is not attracting more attendees??

Could it be because the ticket-buying public is shifting to being mostly female who have no interest in the success of fellow females? Thay they’d rather spend their money to see “hot guys” on tour and not girls?

I dunno. Just IMO, of course.

i will be heartbroken if she’s no longer set to perform in Montreal. I’m really looking forward to the show in general, but she is the main reason i paid so much for my tickets. we’ve already had the show moved from the outdoor (larger) stage to our arena venue, and i’m crossing my fingers and toes i can expect to see her in Montreal.

I’d like to think it’s due mainly to the economy. Some of those high end tickets are pretty expensive.

But I honestly can’t say. I like many of the performers but for some reason I have no interest in going. This year it’s Muse for me at Staples. And some money put aside in case Adam hits LA!

It hasn’t. I corrected the post.

Good thing I waited to buy my ticket ;) Feel bad for those that bought to see Kelly.

They had already changed from a large outdoor venue to a city stadium. Now this? Lilith fair is officially LAME in MN.

We definitely have been reading quite a bit
about tours cancelling due to sluggish sales.
I recall hearing that about the American Idol
tour. Have the sales picked up for it? Do
    any of you know?

I looked for tickets at the NY location, and those in the front are all $456. I have paid a pretty penny through stub hub for front & center tix, but never that much per ticket. That’s insane!

Could be a combination of things….but mainly I think it’s because of the all-women fest lineup. Lollapooloza(sp?) in chicago has no problem selling tickets and Lady Gaga is a headliner; also Eryka Badu. It’s prob. a combination of the economy and competing festivals. Lillith is a good fest that should be supported, but I fear that women just don’t support fests like this. Perhaps they should scale it down a bit. I don’t see how any of these fests make money with 1000 acts on the bill.

As a woman, I don’t feel the need to support this festival only because the lineup is female. It doesn’t have anything with me wanting to see hot guys on tour either. I’d love to see Kelly on her own sometime, but I’m not paying to see Sheryl Crow or Norah Jones. It’s just snoozy music to me. The Lilith Fair tour has always leaned towards an indie/folksy vibe, not my type of music.

Now a female fesitival of more rock type chicks, Allison, Paramore, Halestorm, Orianthi, Kelly rockin it out, even We Are the Fallen. I’m there!

MJ you might’ve been onto something about Denver after all. I just saw a notice at Miranda Lambert’s site of a changed lineup in Denver (which Kelly is also supposed to be part of) and Salt Lake City (which Kelly’s not scheduled to be part of). Miranda’s out of both lineups but she’s still scheduled at others. The notice on her site says there will be official announcements about Lilith at the beginning of July.

I’m wondering…if you bought a ticket for one venue and now it’s moved to another, unless it’s GA, how do they redistribute the seating fairly or on a par with what you had before? Just curious.
