“I was the UN,” American Idol judge, Keith Urban, told Extra TV at the New York Film Festival premiere of Paperboy. “Switzerland,” added wife Nicole Kidman on the role Keith played in the Nicki Minaj/Mariah Carey battle that was caught on tape at the Idol auditions in Charlotte yesterday.

But, he added diplomatically, “I love it, I gotta say, look I love working with passionate people. I love artists. Everyone just sort of expressing themselves. It’s a very alive and very invigorating work environment. A lot of passion. Randy is the craziest, so you know I’m predictable.”

Poor guy. The last thing he probably wants is to be dragged into that mess…

Its his karma for quitting TVoice Australia for AI keh3; I foresee he’ll be the fav judge this season.

  • tucker davis

I don’t care if he even makes sense…just keep talking with that accent!!

    “I was the UN,”

Heh. No, Keith – unless you were trying to broker a peace accord, you were Switzerland. A wise position.

Hoping the public’s reaction convinces TPTB not to try (or allow) that crap again. They got time on Anderson Cooper with that “leak”, for pity’s sake. Mission accomplished. Now, knock it off.

    “I was the UN”

Translation: “I just sat there and watched”

I can totally understand liking to work with passionate people.
However, there is a difference between passion and insanity!

  • fuzzywuzzy

I love Keith Urban. That is all.  lol

    TeamKeith!

  • fuzzywuzzy

I agree. Without having seen Keith say anything, he’s poised to be the rational judge who sticks to his job. I’m curious though to see what happens when Keith’s opinion about a contestant conflicts with Nikki or Mariah’s. lol

“However, there is a difference between passion and insanity. ;-)”

I think that the entertainment industry has a different definition for “passionate” (a lot of which would qualify as “insane” to the general public). lol

that would be fun… the ladies would say… I would love to smack your face because of your opinion but your face is too adorable…

Like the part where he says Randy is the craziest and Nicole Kidman says stop and laughs. Very funny.  I always watch AI pretty regularly once it whittles down to 13 finalists. Hope there isn’t a lot of conflict and shouting and censoring of profanity bc that would spoil the show for me.

Keith is a class act and consummate professional.

Nicole Kidman is gorgeous!!! I hope she will grace the Idol studio with her presence on the frontseat.

    TeamKeith!

I love Keith Urban. That is all.  lol

Ditto.  He’s the only reason why I’m even bothering with the show this season.

You’ve just go to love this guy!  Maybe Keith might motivate Randy (the craziest?) to give honest and fair critiques?  I just hope this circus is calmed down by the time the live show begins.  I am just wondering about the “joke” contestants going through when the judges aren’t totally there to begin with.  LOL!
