Adam Lambert noticed and tweeted Alex a compliment, “@ANew92 Diva I’m blown away by u on Glee! You are KILLIN it Mary!” A star-struck Alex answered, “@adamlambert stop stop stop hold the phone! I live for you!! And thank you soo much!!!” Adam replied, “@ANew92 are you kidding!? You slayed that Britney song!” (Alex sang “Womanizer” in this week’s big Britney episode.)  An obviously thrilled Alex tweeted back, “@adamlambert stop it!! I’m totally fangirling it out in my apartment right now!! Thank you soo much you have no idea how much it means!!”

Adam Lambert talks about this Tuesday’s benefit for Marylanders for Marriage Equality at the 9:30 Club – “I kind of shy away from political events and issues — not because I don’t have my own opinions, but because I find it to be a very sensitive thing,” says Adam Lambert. “And quite frankly, I’m a little bit frustrated with politics in this country. From somebody who hasn’t gotten super involved, it seems like a lot of mudslinging and B.S. to me.” Yet Lambert agreed without reservation to be the headliner at a fundraiser concert benefiting Marylanders for Marriage Equality this Tuesday, Sept. 25, at D.C.’s legendary 9:30 Club. The surprise benefit was announced last Wednesday by at the club’s co-owner, I.M.P. chairman Seth Hurwitz. – Read more at Metro Weekly

‘So You Think You Can Dance’ winners Chehon and Eliana talk about the win – Chehon Wespi-Tschopp and Eliana Girard were announced as the winners of “So You Think You Can Dance” last night — and no one seemed more surprised about this than Chehon and Eliana themselves. The two classically trained ballet dancers were not early favorites. Chehon seemed to be permanently stuck in the shadow of fan favorite Cyrus Spencer, the street dancer with no professional training who was never in the bottom three, while Eliana only seemed able to step into the spotlight once she was unpaired from Cyrus and later danced with all star Alex Wong. The winners spoke to reporters in a conference call about their unexpected wins, Cyrus, and why they think ballet is getting more respect this season. – Read more at HitFix

Adam doesn’t have agenda when he complementing someone. And if he wants to be on Glee, his people will call the people on Glee.. in other words, he can ask his manager/agent to call Glee creator Brian Murphy.

Skylar being engaged is old news.  She tweeted this a month ago.

I think that anyone who tweets something that all of their followers and anyone else can see, has an ulterior motive.  I don’t think that’s a bad thing, it’s actually something that’s very smart.  There are a few more private ways, if the purpose is just to make a compliment, but on twitter, the purpose is to let the recipient of the compliment know about it, but also to let any followers know.  Twitter isn’t exactly a form of one on one communication.

Yes, Adam is a most generous performer – one of his most attractive traits – among many.

”I think that anyone who tweets something that all of their followers and anyone else can see, has an ulterior motive.”

wow, is it really that hard to believe that someone just wants to compliment someone without any ulterior motive?

    Miz Yesterday 03:10 PM
I’m pretty sure Adam had tried out for Glee and was told he was/looked too old for a part. Not sure if there was a specific part he was after. He mentioned it in an interview a few years ago when asked if he’d like to go on GLee.
He said they told him he was good but too old which I find ironic since he’s the just seven months older than Mark Salling.

Haley’s music is being played all over the place……..except radio :/ Stores, malls, movie theaters, Espn college football, MSNBC bumper music, the Nashville promo, Vh1 shows. I think she will have a tour according to her bandmates they can’t say anything yet for whatever reason. Currently she’s in Taiwan promoting Idol for Fox. I don’t know what she gets out of that career wise other than a nice trip but ……I ‘m tempted to type YOLO here x)

Oh btw I don’t know if its been posted here but Haley is doing a fashion series for Nordstrom Racks http://www.hollywire.com/2012/09/haley-reinhart-finds-out-fall-fashion-trends-new-series-falling-fashion

I think that Jessica is still early to judge to say that she would not have “Phililp Home” success levels later on. She didn’t have a good coronation song (“Change Nothing” was panned so-much the first time it was released by the judges, the fans, the bubble, and oustide the bubble when “No Boundaries” which is a bad coronation song according to the bubble was just “erased” during the judging when they kind of said that “let us judge for what they did before than judging this bad song”), she seemed didn’t have the same exposure like last year when Scotty & Lauren (understandably) almost had equal exposure due to their shipping/genre, “Home” was so strong that the effort for at least a decent single for Jessica to released around this time to boost her seems futile (“Fairytale” sounds different from her “clean R&B” style), and other factors.

I don’t think she would end up as “others first, singer second” and just had the endorsements (I mean SIX digit DOLLARS! I think she would own more from Jollibee than her tour! And Bench endorses foreign celebrities anyway so it is not a “Filipino pride” thing only and there would be more offers to come) cause the companies bank on the popularity of Jessica in the Philippines.

I agree that she has almost zero-momentum I think in the US (I just hear about Home’s success in iTunes, Olympics and such but not much about Jessica’s performance, and Interscope should’ve done more than just banking on the current “cash cow” (in a positive way) “Home”. I don’t believe yet that she would be Pia’d (wish for the best for her even though she is not my fave) and I think Jimmy should’ve learn from this cause if he doesn’t…let us just say that the first group to be outraged are the Blujays of the Philippines. So. much.

And. don’t. say. that. Haley. is. DONE. I mean, sure, she doesn’t have the Idol like exposure like she had during her season, but she is still not out. Her 1st single seems to be stable, she had her song exposed to some degree on shows (“Free” on SYTYCD and “Oh My!” for ESPN College Football) and a movie (“Undone” on Step Up 4 even though it was just a snippet with the title not even indicated), and is having international appearances (Taiwan). I think her ride might not be easy, the Haliens know that while in the show, and I hope the best for her.

Best wishes to Jessica & Haley cause it would be a waste if their talent would just go poof cause of a slow start.

I cant speak for others, but I know that whenever I tweet things like that, the only motive I have is sharing my enjoyment with those following incase they too might be interested in checking it out. It’s not because I expect the author/performer/etc to cast a favor my way.  Hell, it’s because of similar Tweets/Facebook posts from others that I have found most of the new stuff which I have gotten into lately.  Don’t see why others’ motives need be anyway different.

  • jpfan2

Nice to see Home on top of HAC and AC adds boards so far today. Especially nice to see some of the big markets finally add it.

This song isn’t done yet. I’m hopeful it can also do ok on CHR.

This is what I said.  I don’t think that the motive has to be trying to get a role, but a tweet that millions of people can have access to is about more than having one on one communication with someone else.

Fans have gotten angry when one idol hasn’t congratulated another, even though they may have done so in private.  These people want to see the tweet for themselves, and eventually, the idol alum will send out the tweet in order to appease these fans.

It’s not about getting a job or whatever, but tweets like these are directed towards followers, and whoever else may read an account, and not whoever is being tweeted.

Jessica had very dismal sales with her EP, trailing behind Josh and Skylar.  Also it was the year when they put in the place the modified contract for the 2nd place finisher.  But they will let Haley go before Jessica.   Pia was their darling at the beginning, but when it became obvious she wasn’t cutting it, the infamous “parting of the ways” announcement came out.

It isn’t an either/or proposition.  It’s possible for a tweet to be both for the benefit of the recipient of the tweet, and for the followers of the tweeter.  IMO there isn’t any doubt that Adam genuinely wanted to compliment Alex – and the impact of the compliment was magnified by the fact that it went out to Adam’s 1.6 million followers.  Of course that was deliberate.

I think the phrase “ulterior motive” has negative connotations to most people.  It implies a level of self-interest that I don’t believe is present in Adam’s tweet to Alex.

It can have a negative meaning to you, but it’s true.  Public tweets are also about networking, even if  that just means expanding a brand with the general public that’s reading the tweets, or anyone else who might be reading it.

  • http://twitter.com/Miztig Miz

To send a non-public tweet directly to someone on Twitter, they must be following you.

elliegrll, I never knew that I had an ulterior motive other than communication when I tweeted.

  • HermeticallySealed

Sorry, but again, not really.  I don’t usually think about those following me when I send an @ to an author.  Short of them following me, it’s the only way to get the message to them.  And to be honest, most people don’t really think about sending pm’s on Twitter.  It’s just faster and easier to type in the person’s addy and post.  And it’s not like when you send an @ everyone automatically sees it.  You have to either be following the same person who it was directed at, or go to the originator’s page and select “all.” ::shrug:: Just doesn’t seem that it must be that convoluted of an issue.

I believed Kris when he said a second single was gonna be released, and I believed Haley when she said the same. Now after what happened with Kris, idk what to think except it seems artists don’t know much more than we do when it comes to their labels decisions.

I’ll believe in a second single for Haley when it’s official now, as I’m sure when Kris said that, he believed it, and thus had no idea at the time RCA would let him go, this soon anyway.
