    First, puppies!! Aww. :)

Second, there are a few songs showing up at BMI that I don’t recall seeing for Danny before. Hint of his behind the scene songwriting for the supposed 2013 album project?

BIGGER THAN ME – songwriters Danny, Shane Stevens, Matthew West
FIRST DAY – songwriters Danny, Phillip La Rue, Adam Smith
LOVE CAN – songwriters, Danny, Stephanie Rachel Lewis, Nicole Marie Witt

Also there is a entry for Faith Hope and Love by Danny with Brandon Fraley. I don’t recall if that was formally registered before, it was on Danny’s EP and he performed it at various charity and other semi-private appearances through 2012. There’s been nothing public about the other three songs.

Danny’s manager said on twitter a few days ago that there will be some type of press release this coming week. Unknown if it is to finally reveal the reputed new record label deal, or something totally different like the book project.

Although no official announcement has been put out by the Grammy people, Kelly is performing.  Some people have said they’ve seen a commercial running on CBS that says it and she was on Saturday Night Online last night where she was asked about the Grammys (3:50). She said she’s more excited about the opportunity to perform than anything else and that they’re still in talks about exactly what’s going to happen on the show. I’m not sure when this interview was recorded, but I’m thinking it was earlier this week.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Kelly was very humble and gracious in talking about being nominated and she’s so excited about performing. Cool!

  • YankeeFan08

    Very cool Adam mention here:

“… a simply astounding 520 million people watched a local Chinese talent show, “The
Voice of China,” to hear Adam Lambert, the American singer.”

  • curly_yenta

Nigel Lythgoe’s son, Simon Lythgoe, Fred Bronson, and CMT’s Alecia Davis all went to see Taylor’s show last night at ParisLV!

  • Kathleen Moore

Yea for new music by John Stevens.  :D  Since he’s so much of a throwback, it will be interesting to see what kind of new music he’ll record.  I’m assuming he’s going indy, which, to me, is a plus.  Can’t wait.

  • heartly

Yeah.  Of the 4 that she and Stronger are up for, she says she wants the SOTY one the most even though she won’t get anything for it. She really wants Ali Tamposi to win because it was her first song to get cut and big break. Kelly said she’s content because she’s already won some in the past.

  • curly_yenta

He has one of those short scruff beards… the ones that kinda just look like you haven’t shaved in 3 days.  Very sexy IMO! ;)

  • lexa

Half a billion people? That is insane! Makes the ratings of The Big Bang Theory look tiny. My favorite comedy btw.

     American Family

First look at our new commercial debuting during Sunday’s big game (and with some familiar faces). Stay tuned for more!

OK, here’s a sneak peak at our new commercial for today’s game, featuring @Phillips, @DANGERUSSWilson and @Vetter31!

Holy Kamoly – that is a lot of people!

Concert review: Matchbox Twenty and Phillip Phillips play to sold-out Winstar crowd

“Sitting in a circle as intimate as your living room, Phillips and
band zipped through a 20-minute set filled with folksy numbers colored
with fantastic instrumentation. Not only is his voice as strong as it
was on TV, his band gracefully shreds any stringed instrument they can
get their hands on. With a voice and style like Dave Matthews, Phillips
turned his set into more of a story than a performance, working the
crowd as he dove into some tracks.

A stirring cover of Usher’s “Nice and Slow” revealed Phillips’
seductive side, a mood usually lost in the folk world of acoustic
guitars and banjos. The way he molded the R&B hit to fit into his
own singer/songwriter box shows how long this humble boy from Georgia
    will be around.”

  • steph6449

Another baby pic from Danny, baby looks sleepy.

I think I like the People pic with the family better, but can’t carp too much on baby pics lol.

  • Liteasy

I do not care for Taylor’s scruff – don’t like it on anybody, but I know some people love it!

  • jpfan2

Is that commercial featuring P2 going to be played during the Superbowl?  Because it not only uses the song it has lots of shots of P2 himself. The good news never stops for this guy. ;0

  • Incipit

OK, I don’t DO Football, so thanks for the Puppy Bowl Link, mj – that is a really well done, interesting site. I’m actually a cat person, but watching the puppies is hard to resist, and the cats are doing the Halftime Show – so that works for me. *wink*

Yep, Nice to have an alternative to the gridiron. And I hope they find good homes for the superstars.

Also. I noticed DC’s been tweeting about working/writing on weekends lately, well the last two in a row –  – but even Super Bowl Sunday?

    >> ?@thedavidcook
Sitting here, writing music songs with @nickgibsonmusic and @andyskib. That is all. Carry on.

At first I thought, smartasp , but it’s true – there are songs on the radio that don’t have a lot of music happening in them…*snerk*…ready to hear some DC music songs….or music/songs.

    Whichever, I’m easy.

  • LongKissGoodnight

    Oh my god!
They have sold Home to yet another commercial!.. And even thrown some PhilPhillips face time for good measure!..
    I can’t, I just can’t… ))))))))))

    Thank you ADRIANAARG1980!)))
*I think I need a minute to giggle this out…*

  • jpfan2

I have never followed any Idol song that had the good fortune of Home. It’s beyond insane at this point. Having P2 himself in the ad is just incredble because I think many people don’t connect the Idol winner with the song itself.

Is P2 the first Idol to be shown in a Superbowl ad?

  • fuzzywuzzy

I heard Kelly say that in another interview, and I think that she really means it. Cool gal!

  • girlygirltoo

what commercial? If you mean the Idol commercial, then no…The Super Bowl is on CBS this year

ETA – never mind, now I see the commercial you mean.

Ok, I’m sorry, but I am officially sick of this song. It is way too overexposed. That said, it’s great for P2 (and the songwriters)

     Jack Salzwedel

Looking forward to seeing our new Super Bowl #SB47 TV spot w/@AmFam Dreamers @vetter31, @phillips, Steve Stricker, @dangerusswilson.

    Jack Salzwedel

Olympian Jessica Vetter, PGA’s Steve Stricker, American Idol Phillip Phillips & NFL QB Russell Wilson…see them in #SB47 ad this Sunday.

    Jack Salzwedel

    Here’s AmFam’s new #SB47 commercial w/@DangeRussWilson, @Phillips, @Vetter31 & Steve Stricker! What do you think?

  • Bentley1530

I think that would have been better with just the kids.  The two styles did not work for me.

  • girlygirltoo

That was the slowest National Anthem I’ve ever heard. #SuperBowl

  • curly_yenta

I thought was SSB at the Super Bowl was self-serving and oh-so-self-indulgent. Sorry Alicia Keys, did like it at all.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I thought that it was arranged kind of like a torch song, which I didn’t like for the NA. Great that she sang and played live though.

  • girlygirltoo

It’s early, but I think already won the award for the worst Super Bowl commercial

  • curly_yenta

Yea, I’ll give her 1 point for singing live, but take away 2 pts for making it all about herself.

  • steph6449

I hate to say nothing could be worse, as what I’m watching now may be close. But yeah, it was gross, ugh.

I sort of liked Alicia Keys’ version of the NA, it was kind of touching I thought.

Not that crazy about Jennifer Hudson, it just seemed a little overdone for America the Beautiful. She looked pretty, though the hair distracted me wondering if it was a wig lol.

Home is still selling a lot, so it hasn’t reached it’s peak yet!

  • girlygirltoo

Beyonce just killed that halftime performance. Could have used more Destiny’s Child, though :)

  • girlygirltoo

It’s still selling well, but it has reached its peak in terms of it is sliding down all the charts now and isn’t selling as much as it had been.

But that has nothing to do with the fact that the song is overexposed now (at least in my opinion)

  • bridgette12

She was great, so much better than last years halftime show. I was hoping that the rest of Destiny Child would make a surprise appearance, it would have been fantastic to see them perform again.

    GO RAVENS!!!

  • tucker davis

Very energetic performance by Beyonce!  I’ve never understand why a female performer has lots of female dancers surrounding her. It seems to distract from the headliner. I guess they feel like they have to fill the stage with bodies.

  • teekee

Love baby pics. Both are adorable, but I like this one more.

One thing I find interesting about JHud.  Shes obviously talented and soared above every other Idol into stratosphere with her Oscar performance.  She has an amazing voice that she uses for special occasions like the Grammy Whitney Performance, Super Bowls, national anthems, inaugurations, awards shows…but has she really had any hit records?  I remember her first gsingle and I think shes won and R&B grammy or two…but she doesnt have hit singles or albums that reach mainstream success.  It is intersting as Ive looked at stats however that 3/4idols have performed at super bowls – clarkson, underwood, hudson. (i think sparks too)..its also intertsing that as much as poeple complain about the white guys – the most successful idols have all been the femalse.  Yes clay was big in his time and I guess adam lambert has potential to last

  • elliegrll

The song has peaked, but the fact that it is still selling so well shows that people still love it, and that new people are still discovering it.

  • Kariann Hart

I always fel a sense of happiness when an Idol does well or better yet – great in their performance!

  • mmb

Jennifer has had very very successful singles on the Urban AC chart.  Virtually everything she has released has done very well there.  I guess it is true that she hasn’t had any songs crossover to the pop charts or chart high on the hot 100.  But I don’t think that either she or her label are going for that. That isn’t the type of artist she is.  There are many paths to a successful career.  A mainstream hit is only one of them.
