One Direction’s “One Way Or Another” Cover: Hear A Preview
After One Direction announced they’d be covering Blondie‘s “One Way or Another” for charity, Daybreak host Richard Arnold asked, “Whose dad came up with that idea? It was 1978, lads.” (Their response: “Seems like yesterday to me.”)
A 30-second snippet of 1D’s cover has since surfaced online, and for now, it’s enough proof that the British boy band embraced the challenge, generational gap aside. Their take is a more stadium-ready rendition, featuring heavier guitars and a more dramatic build-up at the bridge. Check it out after the jump.

One Direction to debut Comic Relief Blondie single at Brit Awards 2013
One Direction will perform their new single, a cover of Blondie’s ‘One Way or Another’, for the first time at the Brit Awards next month.
The track, which is this year’s official Comic Relief record, is available to pre-order now on iTunes and will be released on Sunday, February 17. The physical copy will be available in Sainsbury’s one day later.
Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne will perform the track live at the Brits on Wednesday, February 20.
“We are really excited to be part of Red Nose Day this year. We recorded Blondie’s ‘One Way or Another’ and we really want the song to raise lots of money and for people to show their support by going out and buying themselves a copy,” said Horan.
Tomlinson added: “Getting the chance to perform Blondie’s song will be incredible. We’re so excited! Red Nose Day is a great excuse to have a lot of fun and to raise money, please get involved.”

So when they came face to face with children just a few years younger than them struggling in poverty, it brought them down to earth with a bump.
Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson were moved to tears at a school in Ghana as youngsters surrounded them wanting nothing more than a smile.
The boys visited the poverty-hit city of Accra with Comic Relief to film a video for their single, a fusion of Blondie’s One Way or Another and The Undertones’ Teenage Kicks, which is out today in aid of the charity.
Harry, 19 tomorrow, admitted: “We all had moments. If you get involved in it and you don’t cry you’re superhuman.
“We’ve seen appeal films before so we thought we knew what it’s like.
“But when you’re there and you get the smells, your eyes hurt from the smoke, you cough, you’re feeling it all.
“The crazy thing is, when I went to school not one person wanted to be there. Yet you go into a school in Ghana and every child loves it.

“My mum just cries the whole time,” One Direction’s Liam Payne confessed. “My mum literally has not stopped crying for the past two and a half years.”
ID’s families provide a strong support system for the boys, enthusiastically attending their shows.
“It’s really nice just to like look out [at a concert] and see your family, however embarrassing they’re being,” said Zayn Malik. “Even if they’re on the chair dancing, like, it’s just cool.”

He writes playful autograph
ONE Direction star Harry Styles gave a cheeky note to a photographer who asked for his autograph.
The snapper was waiting to take pictures of Harry outside his home in London and asked him to sign something for his Daughter Ella.
Harry then proceeded to scrawl the joke text onto a piece of cardboard from his car before handing it over.
The autograph read: “To Ella, please tell your daddy to go away. Love from Harry x.”

She peeled off her WPC’s uniform down to her undies, gave the ladies’ man singer a lap dance and then jokingly put him under “arrest”.
But bizarrely she admitted to him she had left her truncheon behind so had instead brought along some nunchucks — Oriental martial arts weapons.
And to add to the hilarious uproar a fellow clubber in Harry’s group said he recognised the performer as a student he had been to college with.

Olly Murs ‘quitting The Xtra Factor’
Olly Murs has reportedly quit The Xtra Factor.
The ‘Troublemaker’ singer has said that it is “unlikely” he’ll join Caroline Flack on the X Factor companion show for a third series.
“I’ve had two great years on it,” he told Heat. “To be honest, the way my career is going in terms of music and internationally it looks unlikely that I’ll be able to do it.
“It’s an amazing part of my career and working with Caroline has been great.”

Rylan Clark to present ‘The Xtra Factor’ after Olly Murs leaves?
Rylan Clark could be in line to replace Olly Murs on The Xtra Factor.
The Celebrity Big Brother winner told Digital Spy just hours after leaving the house on Friday (January 25) that hosting the spinoff show is his ambition.
He said: “My dream job would be presenting on The Xtra Factor – and I know my name has been banded about, but it’s an honour that I’ve even been mentioned.”
It’s thought the reality star could be returning as Caroline Flack’s new co-host on the ITV2 show after Olly Murs is potentially leaving after two years due to music commitments.
An X Factor spokesperson told Digital Spy: “We’d love Olly to come back for this year’s Xtra Factor and we hope we can make it work with his busy schedule.”

He said: “People have just got to realise you can’t be shy about this stuff you’ve got to check yourself. It’s important to look after yourself on the inside as much as on the outside. Us blokes play with our bits enough as it is, so when your man has his hands down his trousers on the couch, encourage him to check his testicles for any lumps.
I had a little scare when I was younger – I found a lump and was really scared, but I went to the doctor and everything was fine. It might not have been if I hadn’t spotted it early though.”

Union J sign deal with RCA Records, new single due out in June
Union J have confirmed the details of their new record deal.
The X Factor boyband have signed to Sony Music subsidiary RCA, with their debut single scheduled for June.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be signed to RCA. Being on X Factor was such a great experience and the perfect way for us to start our musical journey,” Union J said.
“Hopefully 2013 will an amazing year for us and we cannot wait for everyone to hear our music.”
The four-piece join JLS, Alexandra Burke and Aiden Grimshaw on the label’s roster.
X Factor runner-up Jahmene Douglas also confirmed that he has signed a deal with RCA last week.

JAMES ARTHUR is not too old to get a ticking off from his mum.
The X Factor winner had King Arthur inked on his hand and it’s not gone down well.
His furious mum Shirley Ashworth ordered him to get it removed. A source said: “He’s got loads of tattoos but his latest has really upset her.
“She thought he was over his tattoo phase and only spotted it after it was beamed on the big screen at a gig.”

Misha B has revealed that her debut album will be released in the summer.
The former X Factor star has been working on her first collection since leaving the show back in 2011 and is happy that she’s had time to create the album she wants.

Yesterday I had one of the oddest experiences. I was conducting an incredibly inoffensive phone interview with Ella Henderson, the 17-year-old starlet of last year’s X Factor, trying to understand why she was fronting up Disney’s Safer Internet Day.
None the wiser, after around 20 minutes of carefully managed and unilluminating conversation, I decided to broaden out my questions – to get a sense of the Ella, the young popstar from Grimsby recently thrust into the bright limelight. However, this was when things became tricky, for Ella, having recently signed a record deal with Sony – was surrounded by an army of PRs and publicists from both Disney and her label.
Every time I asked her a question, the line sounded like it went dead, as if someone seemed to silence the phone. There would be a pause and then a carefully constructed answer would be delivered by a very polite and inoffensive Ella.

A rich list published yesterday reveals just how many have milked a fortune from celebrity that seemed to last barely minutes.
While the league is topped by well-known names such as Simon Cowell, there are others in the top 50 who will be a mystery to all but the most devoted TV addicts.
The X Factor boss, with an estimated fortune of £225million, has beaten Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle, who is worth £22million, and his proteges One Direction, who are worth £20million each, to top Now magazine’s list.
But while Simon came first in the list, six of the names featured in the article are in fact ones signed up by Cowell – who wouldn’t have made it in the industry without his help.
As well as Susan and One Direction, Will Young (£13.5million) Leona Lewis (£12million), Alexandra Burke (£12million), Gareth Gates (£6.5million), Paul Potts (£6million) and JLS (£6million) all feature on the list.
