Can ‘American Idol’ Survive The Mariah/Nicki Feud? Experts Weigh In – Well, the explosive on-set argument? this week divided fans,? spurred claims from Carey’s husband Nick Cannon that it was just “theatrics”? and resulted in a vicious Twitter tirade? from Minaj attacking Carey after the “Shake It Off” singer referred to Minaj as “unpredictable”?during an interview with Barbara Walters. Given the unexpected judge drama, we asked a few “Idol” experts if they think the Mariah/Nicki beef is the beginning of the end-before-the-beginning of version 12.0 of the show? Or is it an elaborate ruse aimed at revving us up months before “Idol” hits the air and stealing some thunder from “X Factor” and “The Voice?” – Read more at MTV

‘American Idol’ judges get ready to rumble in Baton Rouge – Strangely, Fox is not holding a press conference with the new panel in Baton Rouge, which has been standard operating procedure in prior trips to Louisiana, even when likely-to-say-anything Gene Simmons was a guest judge. A publicity spokeswoman for the show said Thursday that a few regional Fox affiliates may get access to the Baton Rouge events, so there’s hope of at least Zapruder-quality video of any mayhem that may ensue when two adult women disagree over whether an amateur singer is any good or not. But no other MSM allowed. Given reason: The schedule’s too full for 10 minutes of softball questions – Read more at NOLA.com

Kristy Lee Cook Weighs In on ‘Idol’ Judges’ ‘Phony’ Feud – “It’s television, they like drama and will do anything for drama,” Kristy Lee tells The Boot. “I think some of it is phony. I’m not going to sit here and lie. They’ve changed it up so much now that they’ve got have something to keep people wanting to watch the show. I think it’s all for show. All the years that Mariah’s been around, I’ve never seen her bash someone and not get along with them. She was a pretty sweet girl when I met her.” – Read more at The Boot

Carrie Underwood: Big Hair ‘Makes the Rest of Me Look Smaller’ – “It makes me laugh, but it really is southern humor,” she tells PEOPLE. “We country folk, we like our big hair. I am certainly no exception.” Though the singing star is often seen with pretty updos or cute curls, she also enjoys the occasional big (big) hair day. “I just feel like … maybe it makes the rest of me look smaller,” she jokes. “I’m not sure of my reasoning, but that’s the number-one thing I do, when someone fixes my hair, I put my fingers in it and make it look bigger.” – Read more at People

  • mikaylaislove

MJ is Expert in the MTV article, Awesome :)…I love when you get the respect you deserve.

  • justmefornow

    lol.
Here’s another “from the studio” tweet today.
(lol at the level of enthusiasm contrast)

    James Durbin ?@DurbinRock
Hell yeah it was!! Vocals, guitar & bass!! Holdin it down!! “@james_a_michael: Punk rock Friday with @durbinrock
    http://instagr.am/p/Qas6u5kN5d/ ”

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

So, James is going to record the bass too? Or it will be James Michael? Or Blake? Whatever, bass players hate when somone who isn’t a “pro bassist” can easily do their job. lol

  • justmefornow

Next he’ll be knocking Jeff off the drums to try that as well, lol.

Seriously, the most intriguing part of that text to me was “punk rock” friday.
Hmmm? Hint at a new sound direction?
I need another song snippet leak!

  • EmmaCT

Okay. Confess. Adam Levine. American Horror Story. Must-check-it-out…

  • DragonFly

Like the picture for James “punk rock” message also!  Think he answered someone once that he CAN play drums too!  Seems he hasn’t been afraid to challenge himself in many directions.

  • Nadine_Bitch

    That’s a very cool mash up/remix for Trespassing-Another one bites a dust. Freddie’s and Adam’s vocals are INSANE… i can’t even.

  • Incipit

I’ve been haunting the Evening Headlines thread since 10PM ET, looking for some mention of our two Season10 Idol Finalists who were on stage performing at Carnegie Hall tonight, with Irvin Mayfield, Jr and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra - but no luck.

I suppose nothing has filtered through as yet, but I’m hoping to find out what Haley sang, and what CaseyA played, and how they did, maybe tomorrow?

Getting invited to play Carnegie Hall is an honor that doesn’t happen to Idol finalists every day (or night, as the case may be)…hopefully, it ought to make somebody’s news.

    IMO. Of Course

  • MellyPer1692

Oh wow, this is cool! Promo vid for the talk show in China that Adam is guesting on…they know Time for Miracles very well! Adam looks so happy to be there and they look thrilled in return!

lol Not that much! Substituting Jeff would be difficult for anyone who isn’t a professional drummer. But if he’s trying to play punk rock (praying it won’t happen) that wouldn’t be so difficult.

  • irockhard

A punk direction would be awesome, and my second choice after metal. Nice pic of James, jeez he’s lost a lot of weight!

  • irockhard

Yes he said once that he can play drums and piano.

  • Karen C

Interesting… I noticed that when Adam was doing the Queen shows, that his solo music fit in with some of the Queen songs, like Another One Bites the Dust.  I could see where Queen might be an influence for Adam, and that’s why it fits in so well.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“#Bout to record some vocals..or at least try”

This must be some extra vocals for already recorded songs, since P2 has announced that he has recently “made the order of the songs” (= tracklist) for his CD.

  • thirdtime

Incipit – it’s definitely an honor that Haley and Casey played at Carnegie Hall, but it may not get much coverage here since there were quite a few other Idols who also played Carnegie in the past.  If I remember right I think Clay Aiken, Diana DeGarmo, Melinda Doolittle, Lakisha Jones, Jennifer Hudson, Katie Stevens and Stefano all played at Carnegie (there are probably more that I’m not remembering).

I know we got a video of Stefano at Carnegie so you must be able to videotape performances there, so hopefully someone will post a video of their performance.

  • justmefornow

Wouldn’t Carnegie Hall have a video archive like the Kennedy Center does?
I still go back occasionally and watch parts of James’ performance, especially the great U2 cover he did there.

Still, I’m sure some video will pop up today probably. With both of them performing there’s double the odds one of their fans recorded it.

  • girlygirltoo

It says here that the Carnegie Hall performance isn’t until this coming Monday (10/8) and that it will be livestreamed.

I really do like Time for Miracles, I just hope one day, Adam will actually sing this song live. I know the odds of this happening are not good, but a girl can dream.

  • Nadine_Bitch

I remember Time for miracles had actually charted in Asia. And when I was in Philippines May 2010, I saw Sleepwalker (the tour live version) was charting on MYX(video channel) count down.

  • Incipit

…the Carnegie Hall performance isn’t until this coming Monday (10/8)

Ahah! (I just like to say that) No wonder I couldn’t find any news! *snerk* @Myself. I had a bad source for the date, ought to have double checked it.

    Thanks, girlygirltoo.
