“X Factor” alum Chris Rene to fans: “I’ll always be right here” – When Chris Rene graced the “The X Factor” stage last season, he had no idea what the future would hold. But he did know two things: He wanted to make music and stay sober. He remembers those audition moments very vividly. “L.A. Reid said, ‘I want you on my team, but you gotta stay straight, man,’” Rene recalled during an interview with CBSNews.com. “What I said to him was: ‘I’m right here. I’ll always be just right here.’” And “right here,” he stays. Rene left rehab for drug addiction just months before his 2011 “X Factor” try-out. Not only was Reid behind Rene, but Simon Cowell later called him his “personal favorite.” – Read more at CBS News

I would give another contestant a chance to mentor instead of making Adam the only alumni to ever mentor for a 2nd time in a row.

The girl who got him to sign her arm was at the airport when he arrived in NZ. She went and had the tattoo done that day and even had a video showing her getting the tattoo. There was another girl at the signing who was interviewed, but wasn’t able to get him to sign her shoulder/back.

I lost count of how many interviews Adam has done in New Zealand, but this radio interview featured something a bit different – Adam and the (female) interviewer doing a karaoke version of “The One That I Want” from “Grease”.  They both sounded great!

You know, I am somewhat glad that Adam is not there judging  with Mariah and Nicki.   The two women have very strong personality and I already  suspected there will be a clash, sooner or later.  Anyone who tries to pacify them will become common enemy.  The dispute, even if it is for show is low taste.

I think Adam is doing what he should be doing.  His profile is expanding as he builds his fan base.  It was for the best that he not be a judge with the Divas on Idol.

He dodged a bullet on that one I think :)

The New Zeland stuff has been so much fun.

Maybe the Smash soundtrack album is on a UMG label?

Naaah, it’s the Smash soundtrack that’s with Columbia and is the recent deal. But between the two of us, we’ve established that confusion re McPhee is totally justified by the available info, also that cleaning up the “our artists!” we love them!” page is not a high priority for labels. :-(

Thanks so much for posting the link….Loved Grease the movie…Adam who can sing pretty much anything of course sounded great and I really loved the interviewer’s voice.  She really surprised me when she started singing…Was not expecting that at all…Love all interviews when they get him to sing something on the spot….

I predict there will be an announcement by the end of the year that Adam Lambert and RCA have parted ways.  Of course the response will be that Adam chose to leave RCA, that it was in his best interest and that a major label is waiting to sign him.  That’s usually the script when someone is dropped from a label.

That’s the meme for Cook, Allen and other dropped former Idol winners so I can see why some would assume/hope that the same will happen with Adam.  However, I don’t see it happening anytime soon.  Why you might ask yourself?  What makes Adam so different?  Well the difference between Adam and those other people is that Adam has a large, passionate and supportive world wide fanbase.

The beauty of Adam’s situation is that unlike Cook, Allen, et al he’s not solely dependent on the U.S. market for success.  Adam continues to establish himself as an international artist and since RCA doesn’t care where the money/sales come from as long as they come in they won’t be cutting him loose any time in the near future.

He was super adorable as a weatherman.  He continue to charm his way around the world picking up new fans every day.

I’m in no position to predict whether or not RCA will drop Adam.  I don’t know what RCA’s expectations were, exactly what Adam’s total sales are, or what strategy may be in place going forward.  I will say this, however…one would hope RCA, or any label, would take a good, long look in the mirror before dropping an artist.  Any artist.  Not just for the artist’s own good, necessarily, but for the label’s as well.  If, say, RCA decides that “Trespassing” underperformed, it would behoove TPTB to evaluate, as objectively as possible, how much is Adam’s responsibility, and how much is the label’s.  It would not do the label any good to drop an artist who promptly goes elsewhere and hits big, because the underperformance was due more to label mismanagement than shortcomings on the artist’s part.

People can argue until they’re blue in the face about Adam’s strengths, his weaknesses, his successes, his failures, and his prospects.  In the end, success or failure is not necessarily logical or predictable.  For what it’s worth, in Adam’s case, he delivered a well-reviewed, well-regarded pop album.  He worked his ass off promoting said album.  He made the most of every opportunity he was given.  If the results weren’t good enough, maybe, just maybe, the problem didn’t lie entirely with Adam.  I don’t know if RCA would be willing to acknowledge that possibility or not, but if not, it’s their bad.

Standard issue disclaimer…I am making no comment, in any way, shape or form, about any other Idol.
