Summerfest Sound Bites – Danny Gokey Answers Your Questions and More

Wednesday also brought Milwaukee homeboy Danny Gokey back from Nashville. Alison Sherwood interviewed him for Tap where she asked the Gokester some questions from his loyal fans and Tap Milwaukee followers, including thoughts on acting (fun fact: Gokey appeared in a TV movie recently) and how he’s gotten so buff (causing Gokey to do some bashful blushing). I also talked to Gokey the other day and asked a couple fan questions.

Lauren Alaina Discusses Recent Weight Loss

Lauren Alaina is looking as beautiful as ever, something the teen and ‘American Idol’ runner-up addresses in a new video interview with Yahoo, which took place at the rehearsals for the just-started American Idols Live tour. Alaina admits she has been working out and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and that it’s not the pace or the stress of the show that caused her to drop some pounds.

She revealed she is on a delivery diet, where she gets a bag of good-for-you food every morning. “I have had some things that are not personally what I would choose to eat, but it’s trial and error,” the singer said about adapting and adjusting to the dietary fare.

‘The X Factor’: Simon Cowell Produced, Will Star in Three-Minute World Premiere Clip to Air During All-Star Game (Exclusive)

Fox Sports originally had two plans to integrate Simon Cowell’s upcoming singing competition series The X Factor during next week’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game, including a half-hour national preview and a three-minute movie trailer promo.

“We wanted to create a national lead-in to the All-Star Game,” Fox Sports president Eric Shanks tells The Hollywood Reporter. However, since production is still under way on the fall series, Fox will broadcast a three-minute world premiere promo that was produced by Cowell and filmed over two days in Miami and Los Angeles.

‘Glee’ will enter these six episodes in Emmy race for best comedy series

One-hour comedies have a tough time at the Emmys. Only “Glee,” “Ugly Betty,” “Desperate Housewives” and “Ally McBeal” have been nominated for best series in recent years. “Ally” won in 1999, first at the Golden Globes, then at the Emmys. “Glee” has won the Golden Globe as best comedy series for the last two years and was voted best comedy ensemble at SAG in 2010, but it lost to “Modern Family” at the Emmys in 2010. Can it finally prevail in 2011?

Live at So You Think You Can Dance! An Injury, an Elopement and the Domination Man

“My foot, the muscle is swollen,” Mitchell told us. “It swelled up and I was like, ‘Oh my God’ I couldn’t put my weight on it. Tonight, Robert Roldan had his outfit on [to fill in for me] and I was just sitting there looking at all the other dancers and I thought, ‘Wait, I can do this. I can do this.’ Looking at Caitlynn I wanted it so bad. In rehearsal I could feel [the injury]. Then I went to bed the night before the show and when I woke up I couldn’t even stand on my foot.”

Meanwhile, is there anyone who has more trouble with flights and airports than Kris does? He tweeted that he was stuck on the 405 and might miss his flight. He always seems to have some issue flying from one place to another.

Obviously he hasn’t met Cook’s guitarist Neal Tiemann…

Obviously he hasn’t met Cook’s guitarist Neal Tiemann…

*seriously considers writing (non-slash [I never write slash]) story in which Tiemann and Allen are booked on the same flight*

*it ends up in another dimension*

*with no luggage, but a helpful pet walrus that quotes Beatles lyrics*

    *hilarity ensues*

    Bwahahaha!

Oh, please do that! You can call the story “Coo-Coo-Ka-Joo”, or “Adventures of the Egg Men.”

I’d read it! I didn’t know there was another person with Bad Travel Mojo like Neal.

Examples: Allison…gone after one album, Archie…Jive was going to hold him to his contract (say 3 albums over 6 years). Archie put out a Christmas album and a quickie 3rd album…he was then able to walk away, clear. Otherwise Jive could have held on to him for the six years.

I’ve never heard of a contract being for X number of years, it’s for a certain number of albums. Your examples of Kelly and Archie are contradicting one another. If Archie’s contract wasn’t up, and Jive wanted to keep him, they could have. We know that Kelly has at least been tempted to leave RCA, but she can’t until she has fulfilled her obligations to them, meaning released a certain number of albums.

Archie’s contract was fulfilled and Jive offered options to renew his contract and David opted not to and walked away like Tess said. So no, Jive couldn’t have kept David. Smart smart move in my opinion.

That’s my point. I’m saying that if the contract wasn’t up, then Archie could not have gone anywhere, even if that is what he wanted to do. But, according to David, he was able to leave, because he fulfilled the terms of his original contract.

  • Tess

I think there is some confusion about albums versus time. Archie’s contract probably was something like 3/5. Meaning his end of the contract was to record 3 albums in 5 years. He was free once he fulfilled either end of the bargain….but Jive could have released him after one album, or they could have held on to him for 5 years if he hadn’t recorded the 3rd album. And yes their is a time limit on contracts….otherwise a label could hold you as an indentured servant if they wanted to.

There is no confusion. Idol contracts are based on a set number of albums.

Do you have a link to his contract that spells out that this is the case? This information doesn’t seem to be in Scotty’s contract that was posted online, or in the ones from season 8, which did spell out how long the alums were to be signed to 19R.
