HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Mar 18-24

With 69.42% of reports in, Justin Timberlake is sailing to an easy and impressive victory on the charts. His first album in several years is currently predicted to sell 760K with reports still to come in. Clearly, I’m a minority in thinking “Suit and Tie” was completely underwhelming (and I still think that it would have had a hard time becoming a hit if it was sung by anybody of lesser stature than Timberlake).

Kacey Musgraves is also debuting this week, but she is currently way back in send with 20 times fewer sales. That’s actually pretty impressive considering this is her first album since an independently released album in 2007. That was also the year she appeared on the country singing competition show, “Nashville Star” finishing 7th. While the show didn’t produce much in the way of immediate stars, Miranda Lambert and Chris Young would later go on to become successes after a lot of hard work and dues paying. Will Kacey join their ranks?

Bruno Mars is 3rd, Luke Bryan is working the Spring Break angle again for 4th, P!NK is 5th, last week’s number one Bon Jovi is 6th, Imagine Dragons are 7th, NOW 45 (featuring Phil, Kelly and One Direction) is 8th, Les Miz pops back onto the chart in 9th (renewed interest because the DVD is out?) and Mumford and Sons rounds out the top 10.

Phil Phillips is still riding high from his Idol performance and his “World from the Side of the Moon” is in 16th. One Direction is 29th, Kelly Clarkson’s Greatest Hits are 32nd and Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” is 35th. The Grammy Nominees CD is 30th and Now 44 is 43rd (both feature Kelly Clarkson and Carly Rae Jepsen)
