    “I have a box where I don’t sign.”
“Well I actually spend money on food but that’s because I really like food.”
Archie, you say the most random things and it cracks me up. :lol_wp:
*Picturing Archie riding a bitchin’ motorcycle* :razz_wp:

  • gabam

Archie was just too cute on the show. The part where he drank the water just had me cracking up. He sang very well too. Good appearance.

It was nice how he explained that as a minor, it was the law that his father, his guardian, had to be around during AI.

  • PCdoctor

Thanks for posting this. Archie is getting better at interviews, so much more articulate than when he first started giving interviews and he’s always funny. Very good performance of Crush.

  • LK08

Great interview. Great sound. I noticed when he just uses backup music, it sounds better. I guess the band will get adjusted correctly in time.

  • ozarka

Archie was adorable as always and he did very well with his performance of Crush. He mentioned that he avoids reading about himself on the internet. Actually he has said that in a few other interviews. Brooke and KLC also avoid it. That’s very smart of them. I am glad of that because I wouldn’t want David to run across some of the very hateful things said about him out there. A few of the reviews, for example, are just mean and useless tripe. I wouldn’t want that to dampen his gleeful and effervescent spirit.

  • luckeee55

Excellent performance of Crush. And the interview was too cute. It it amazing how far he has come over the last few months. He is obviously a quick study. His performances get better with each one and his interviews are leaps and bounds better than even a month ago. He seems like just a great kid and I’ve noticed that the various radio and show hosts he talks with seem to really like him after they get to talk with him. Little Archie had some sass in him with this interview and it is adorable.

  • Suzanne

Thx MJ. That was a great, lively interview. Not awkward at all. they really worked well together.

Regarding Crush, it must be hard to get the balance right when there’s a live band or when there’s a piped-in track. He did great here, but I thought the band/background vocals were a little too light. When the band is there live, sometimes it’s a little too loud.

But I nit pik. Oh, and cool bomber jacket vs Mr. Rogers cardigans?? Does no one advise him? (More nit piking.)

  • canadiandcfan

that was a great inteview & performance!
i love it when he get to see him relaxed and funny… and he seemed pretty much at ease here. Crush sounded great!

  • houstonrufus

This was awesome! Loved the interview and the performance.

  • cruzceleste

The box thing was funny as the money question…

But I nit pik. Oh, and cool bomber jacket vs Mr. Rogers cardigans?? Does no one advise him? (More nit piking.)

No I totally agree with you, that looks like something my grandpa will used… well Jive if you or Jeff are lurking please fired David stylist… Thank you very much…

  • Virgii5

I liked his outfits on the today show and TRL, but none of the night time appearances.. does he have a daytime AND a nighttime stylist? It’s kind of weird. Fire the nighttime stylist then!

  • ozarka

I’ve seen videos of him with two different stylists. One was with a lady during the shooting of the Crush video and another one was with a guy helping him put on a jacket during one of the rehearsals with the band.

  • abbysee

Cool inteview. I really did giggle about the box. That he actually illustrated the box, just like he illustrated the rainbow earlier this spring it was priceless. He is funny both intentionally and randomly.

That song is infectious and he just has the right kind of aura to pull it off so well.

I did hate the outfit, but I will give him a pass cause he’s just so damn adorable.

  • sadie

You guys are entitled to your own opinions but EVERYTHING David has been wearing is very “IN”! If you look through any magazines right now… cardigans are the things for guys. Justin Timberlake and the Jonas Brothers have been seen in cardigans lately. And flannels and plaids are ALL over the stores right now! His stylist is actually right on with everything he has been in. He has looked the BEST yet this past week!

  • Davidx2

    Another Archudorable interview. :mrgreen_wp:

He really is getting very comfortable with these interviews. I can’t imagine anyone who has interviewed him, whether they were a fan of his or not, coming away from it not liking him. He’s just so sweet and down to earth.

Yes, some of his outfits, like the one on Ellen :rolleyes_wp: are not my favorites. He needs to stick to leather jackets and jeans. :smile1_ee:

  • cruzceleste

Maybe, but not every trend in fashion fix everybody, it has to be with personality and type of body… and David is just so adorable, that this kind of clothes somehow don ´t work for him IMHO, it made him look “old” and not in a mature cool way, maybe with out the sweater… maybe something more young like the pictures in the album booklet will work…

  • abbysee

Without the sweater would be better. I do know that he has to mix it up, a tee and leather jacket gets a bit boring every now and then. I actually like a very basic button down, with a tie, vest, sneakers and jean look on him. Very cute, but it’s probably out, lol. He looks best like that to me.

  • Jabkmc

abbysee – Don’t tease me about the vest pictures we haven’t seen yet. Cruel. haha!

  • sue

Love the interview and the performance but the clothes has got to go. The shirt is too long and it makes him look shorter. He is cute as button but he needs casual cool clothes. I love the outfit he wore on Regis, The Today Show, MiTRL, and Leno. The rest they can keep, lol. The shoes he wore on Regis made him look taller too. I like the cool t-shirt, fitted jacked, jeans and scarf look. He was looking smashing. The plaid Paul Bunyon shirts don’t do it for me. I thought he wore the cardigan in honor of Ellen, lol. Oh well they will get it right eventually on style. As long as his performances are improving that is all that counts and it has improved significantly.

  • soundscene

Yeah, but if he doesn’t keep wearing very “in,” but kinda “wrong” outfits he’ll never get fugged on gofugyourself.com, and I’m waiting anxiously for that. lol.

  • abbysee

Jabkmc, I could photoshop one for you, lol!

  • LK08

IMO, David has not improved much in the interview department. He had great interviews starting at the beginning. It very much depends on the interviewer and the type of questions they ask. If someone asks stupid questions, he doesn’t do as well. Also if they act like they like David, he is very comfortable and does better.

Check out the “Oh My Gosh, Ashley!” interview on the night of the finale and the “I could get hit by a car” interview right at the finale with Justin (former AI runnerup). Also see the EW 3 part interview with Slezak. Those are just a few great interviews.

I kind of figured that plaid must be in, because he has been wearing a lot of it.

  • gerreb

^^I love all 3 of those interviews….they were great! I think some of Archie’s interviews are great, and he is comfortable, and gives great answers…..and on some others, he seems very shy and awkward. i appreciate both kinds. i appreciate the first for the reasons i mentioned, and the latter because he doesn’t try to be this well-polished celebrity, and just comes as he is. i don’t know, it just makes me appreciate him as a person more.

  • soundscene

Archie does best when he knows that people want to talk with him. I think that’s one of the biggest problems when he was interviewed with Cook or with the other Idols–he wasn’t sure whether the interviewer or the audience really wanted to hear from him. I mean, he’s 17 and at that age there are going to be issues with self-confidence (well, at any age, but especially at that age). He sees these older performers and they’re a lot more gregarious than he is and, IMO, I think he’s not sure whether he should add his thoughts.

Even with these solo interviews, if the person interviewing him is asking him generic questions, or doesn’t seem to be into the interview, he won’t do as well. I think he needs that little boost that he gets when the interviewer or journalist seems truly excited or happy to be talking with him. Again, I just think it’s about gaining that confidence and realizing that, even if the interviewer is a dud, the people watching the interview want to watch him and hear what he has to say. One day I’m positive he’ll be able to be at ease even with the most detached reporter.

One of the reasons he does so well with fans, and is so outgoing with them (even to the point that he asks fans questions and seems interested in the answers) is because he knows that they want to be there with him. He doesn’t have to wonder whether they’re just being nice. He’s a very outgoing, talkative, insightful and funny guy when he’s confident in his surroundings. Eventually I believe that will extend to these types of interviews. Spike was good because Spike was very welcoming. Ellen as well. I have a feeling that the Bonnie Hunt interview will be great because she’s a very warm and funny person.

  • frogcooke

    I agree with you lisa.

oh andhis clothes I love the plaid button down shirts he’s been wearing(not so much that green one. And I loved the Ellen outfit(i think that was the plaid pants and red shirt with cardigan), the pants looked good. A nice variation from the jeans he always wears :)

  • JudyOhio

Archie appears to have a long arm length and fairly large hands for a guy his size. I wonder if they dress him to downplay that somehow. In the Rickey Dees interview (i think that was the one), he wore a t-shirt. It’s the interview where they are standing and David’s back is to a window. And in that, he would swing his arms in different directions and didn’t look comfortable about where to put his hands or arms so they just seemed to flail around. I’m thinking that maybe the heavier shirts and cardigans (or jackets w/shirt) helps bulk the arms to give them a shorter and a less awkward appearance when moving them around. I’m not sure exactly what I’m trying to get at here. But, it is noticeable at times that he has no idea what to do with his arms/hands, so they just go all over the place (nerves maybe). This happens mainly in interviews where he is standing. This is not a criticisim, just a little something I noticed in that Dees interview.

  • gerreb

yes, soundscene, i also agree!! you are very good with words. :)
as for archie’s outfits lately….some i like, some i don’t. i felt like he looked like a lumberjack on the spike show…but apparently this is “in” right now. and i’m 23, shouldn’t i know what’s “in” right now? LOL

  • frogcooke

Judy, dont worry I know what your getting at, hahaha

Though after watching Archie flail his arms… Ive noticed I do the same thing… I never really noticed it before… T__T; untill i noticed he does it..

  • ozarka

But, it is noticeable at times that he has no idea what to do with his arms/hands, so they just go all over the place (nerves maybe).

I don’t think it’s just about nerves (although that may be a small part of it). David is like many people who like to speak with their hands. Please forgive the stereotype, but it’s like with Italians who do a lot of talking with gestures of the hands. David is not good with words (as he’s admitted many times) so he compensates for this by using his hands (involuntarily sometimes) to help him get his point across. The fact that he has rather large hands just makes it more noticeable. Large hands however are an asset for playing the piano.

  • temkanoe

    David gesticulates!

  • hardkandy

Can’t help but love this boy. I’m being converted more and more each day.

  • Tatiana

David did great, he is getting better and better at performing Crush live!

Regarding wardrobe, I think the AI stylist did a really good job with proportions. He always had David in jackets with sleeves that were a little long, this helped keep his hands looking more in proportion. I wish someone would get David a permanent stylist so that his looks are always fresh, consistent, and keep him looking his best for every appearance. This is not something he should have to worry about!

  • cruzceleste

Archie appears to have a long arm length and fairly large hands for a guy his size.

Every teenager is self-conscious about their bodies and we know that he considers himself weird looking maybe that made him a little nervous when he is on cameraà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ he will get better as he get more comfortable in his skin ;D after all he is still growing à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

I can’t help but love Archie’s interviews. :D I’m not a fan of the outfit but I still like Archie. :)

  • JudyOhio

As a side point, the arm and hand movements are a blessing when expressing himself while singing though. For instance, in his “Shop Around” performance. Those arms, hands, legs….heck, his whole body was rhythmic. He will be a very good uninhibited dancer/performer with mucho stage presence when he gets some of his self-confidence issues under control. I hope he will eventually do songs that will allow the kind of performance abandonment and movement that he had in “Shop Around.” He’s excellent with angst when he needs to be. But I’m looking forward to seeing him doing those catchy upbeat tunes where he can move around the stage, you know, dancing and bopping around and pointing his finger and smiling etc. Geez, I SO tend to micromanage this kid, lol. With or without our “input”, I still have a gut feeling he is going to be a superstar eventually. Seriously, I really mean that.

  • Tatiana

A couple of other archie thoughts/tidbits:

The Crush video now has over 6 million views on You Tube!

I noticed that when you look at other albums purchased by those who purchased David’s album in iTunes, aside from the obvious Idol and pop/Disney artists, another album commonly purchased along with David’s is Enrique Iglesias Greatest Hits. I thought this was really interesting in that it shows his popularity with the Latino audience. The miTRL appearance was a smart move. Jive would do well to put out an EP of a few Spanish versions of David’s songs…this would sell like hotcakes!

  • soundscene

^^ He’s also getting written up in print publications for the Latino audience. Very smart move because this is a very large market, and one that isn’t as inclined to dismiss an artist because he was on American Idol or is considered a “teen” artist.

I would be surprised if he didn’t release a Spanish EP next year (I would buy it and my Spanish is terrible). He should also get more comfortable speaking Spanish publicly. We know he speaks it and he can speak it well. He just doesn’t think he can.

  • Tatiana

Yes soundscene, even the guy at miTRL was impressed with his pronunciation of “abuelita” :lol_wp:

  • Bookaholic

This interview and rendition of ‘Crush’ was fantastic. David seemed relaxed after a bit and was so talkative and expressive. Yeah! I loved the interview coz it was obvious Spike was a fan. Comparing the audience reaction to him to that of the Beatles, and posting that it was his best show this year were great comments. Thanks, Spike. Love it!

And David’s changing up of ‘Crush’ was heavenly. I love it when he gets relaxed enough with a song to start playing with it! It always gets better and better over time.

I like his singing best with just a soundtrack. I think David gives the song a more heartfelt vibe when it’s just his voice telling the story. When he sings with the band, it’s like he tries to rock with them, to blend in with them. I realize he needs live backup at times, but I hope they tone down the rock and up the accoustic approach which is a better fit with David’s exquisite voice. I want that voice to have prominence, to star. The band not so much.

As far as the clothes are concerned, other than how it may affect new fans’ perception of him which I want to be positive, I could care less. Some outfits are cooler than others, but David always looks adorable to me regardless. Everything about him is the definition of adorable.

This week has been PACKED with awesomeness. Bonnie Hunt tomorrow! Then, a big lapse until the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. How will I live?? Ideas, people? And, I’m not going to a Jingle Jam. Bummmmer.

  • ealbino

Does anyone know when and if the AOL sessions is being taped?

  • ozarka

According to Archuleta FanScene the AOL performances took place on November 5th. He performed the following 5 songs…
    1.) My Hands
    2.) ALTNOY
    3.) Touch My Hand
    4.) Crush
    5.) You Can
It’s just a matter of time as to when they’ll broadcast it. People were expecting it to come out around the time of his album release, but there’s still no sign of it yet.

  • ealbino

    Thanks ozarka. I’m waiting anxiously
