NASHVILLE, TN, December 17, 2012 —Set to release his inspiring powerhouse debut album A Messenger on January 29, 2013 on EMI-CMG/Sparrow Records, American Idol Season 11 finalist Colton Dixon is already a chart-topping artist via the album’s first two singles, “Never Gone” and “You Are.” both of which were released this past Fall.

Heard by more than 360, 000 on last summer’s American Idol Live Tour across the U.S., Colton Dixon’s uplifting power ballad “Never Gone” was an immediate hit digital single, selling 21,000 units its first week and heading straight to #1 on the iTunes Christian & Gospel singles chart, Billboard’s Christian Digital Songs, and Christian/Gospel Digital Songs charts. Colton’s performance of “Never Gone” on the tour marked the first time an Idol contestant has performed that they co-wrote on the annual Idol tour.

“You Are,” Colton’s subsequent debut radio single, also hit #1 its first week on the iTunes Christian & Gospel singles chart, Billboard’s Christian Digital Songs, and Christian/Gospel Digital Songs charts. The fiery anthem was selected as USA Today’s Song of the Week upon its digital release in October.

A Messenger features 11 tracks that showcase the multi-talented singer/songwriter’s trademark balance of vocal tenderness and intensity, his energetic piano playing and, above all, a sense of hope and inspiration. The track listing for A Messenger is as follows:

1. Noise
2. I’ll Be The Light
3. You Are
4. Never Gone
5. Love Has Come
6. Scars
7. Rise
8. Where My Heart Goes
9. This Is Who I Am
10. In and Out of Time
11. Let Them See You

For the album Colton worked with a notable team of co-writers and producers including Red Decibel, the team of Adam Watts, Andy Dodd and Gannin Arnold (Kelly Clarkson, Switchfoot), who co-wrote “Never Gone,” “Shape Of Your Love” and “In and Out of Time”; megaproducer busbee (Daughtry, P!nk, Switchfoot, Smash Mouth), who co-wrote “You Are,” and the
power rock “Noise.” Renowned Nashville based songwriter Zac Maloy (Daughtry, Plain White T’s), who penned the power anthem “I’ll Be The Light,” and Dave Bassett (Shinedown) who co-wrote “This Is Who I Am.” Colton wrote “Where My Heart Goes” with top gospel writer/producer David Garcia and Ben Glover, who was named ASCAP’s Christian Songwriter of the Year for 2012. The final track on A Messenger is the stripped down, acoustic “Let Them See You” written by Scotty Wilbanks, touring keyboardist of Third Day.

In support of A Messenger, Colton Dixon will be touring as a special guest on 46 dates with Third Day, starting February 21, 2013 in Fairfax, Virginia. February 14 will see Colton supporting fellow Idol Jessica Sanchez at Araneta Coliseum in Manila for a special Valentine’s Day concert, and in September he will be performing at the Rock the Universe Festival in Orlando, FL.

Cool album cover.  If there is such of thing as uber Christian teeny boppers, then they should lap this up.

I lol’ed at the cover shot. I don’t think I’ve ever seen skinnier legs on anyone who wasn’t anorexic.

Tadpole. ))) I am calm while nobody offends Kenny.
Yes, and the question is not on the topic: when should we expect the appearance of Jessica in Glee and anybody can advise the date on her album?

I heard she starts taping her episodes in January.  So that could mean February/March appearances.  I’m sure her album and single release will coincide with the related Glee press.

I sure hope they have her play Blaine’s cousin.

    Reminder:

No thread jacking peeps! This post is about COLTON. Thanks you.

Why is he leaning into a strong wind?

It almost looks like his bum was airbrushed out of the album cover, hehe.  Good luck to Colton though!

Why is he leaning into a strong wind?

Well, I thought the answer was 1 Kings 19:11-12, but if so, that’s one big, flat mountain. Darned cover illustrators…

    I suppose there’s always Luke 7:24…

And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went you out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

MJ, I would love to talk music Colton, but all I know about the Christian music I’ve learned in the South Park. And I have no desire to learn more. I have claustrophobia. Period.
So I will, with your permission, to discuss about the picture.
Colton for me reminds here suricata. But I blamed that photographer has chosen the wrong angle. From the bottom up his legs would not be skinny, and head is not so big.

With regards to the album: I read that sister performed with Colton in the group. Took she part in recording and is it any chance that she would go on tour?

Wow I always thought if Colton stood sideways you wouldn’t be able to see him at all.

I LOVE the cover.  Haven’t heard the songs yet but will check it out.

    Black is very slimming. lol

After Phillip Phillips, I can see Colton Dixon as the next best selling alum of Season 11.

There is and Colton plays right into this. I know here (DFW) we have a separate Christian Station that is targeted towards that audience. They only play Christian Music that is like Colton (alternative)
Example: They would never play Mandisa or Jason Castro. That is played on the main Christian Station.

Oh hey, cockatoo!  (Just kidding. I’m actually really excited for the album.)

  • b_james

Trust me, “uber Christian teeny boppers” are the craziest fans of all.  I’ve worked with a Christian music festival for the last decade and have seen this first hand. Colton is gonna be just fine.

  • coltoniseverything

One of “the” dates I have been looking forward to hearing about. This is glorious
news. I have just pre-ordered the CD. I am excited that Coltons’ career is progressing
at such a rapid pace. The tour follows….it’s all fantastic….
