The Voice coaches, Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera, sang their duet “Just A Fool” on the Ellen Degeres Show today.  The tune, which is great in a way I didn’t expect, is from Christina’s latest album, Lotus. Check out the performance below.

I really, really like this song – didn’t expect their voices to work this well together.

Christina is being interviewed on Ellen and just said that “Chris Mann is doing really well!” Is he? lol

I bought this CD for just this song.  LOVE it.  I hope it’s a smash hit for both of them.

Christina is being interviewed on Ellen and just said that “Chris Mann is doing really well!” Is he?

By Voice standards, Chris Mann is Barry Manilow at his mid-1970s peak. Mann charted the title track of his album around 30 on AC before holiday music took over, and a track from his Xmas EP is now at 33 on AC and rising.

His total album sales are likely lower than Javier Colon’s or Dia Frampton’s, but since the only information available is peak BB 200 position, not performance going forward, this isn’t guaranteed. If he charms his way through the Christmas season, he might out-sell them, even though he’s in a genre that typically sells less than pop, rock, or whatever they purported to be doing. The bar is admittedly low, but he’s doing what he can to hurdle it.

Wow. I kind of loved that. Christina’s voice is so beautiful and she and Blake sounded great together.

He’s doing ok for the AC type of artist he is. His single has charted on AC radio and his Xmas music is getting played as well. I don’t think he’s sold much, but then most pure AC artists don’t.

Also, Xtina’s probably comparing him to the success (or lack thereof) of the other Voice contestants :)

Yes, It is excellent.  I don’t like all of Xtina’s new album. but this song and one other are terrific.  Someone will be singing it on The Voice in the spring.

I really love this duet. I’m impressed by Blake’s singing, and a bit surprised that his and Christina’s voices sound so good together.

It sounds like Xtina exaggerating again, LOL. Plus, I thought Chris Mann had already made some decent contacts before The Voice.  I know that Vicci Martinez had a song that charted low on HAC,  she was able to headline her own North American Tour which sold pretty well (small venues, of course),  and she gets decent publicity (by “decent”, I mean radio station interviews, etc.), so I wouldn’t say that Chris Mann is doing that much better than her.

Vicci Martinez only just got her first song onto HAC — it’s the one featuring Cee-Lo Green and it’s at #36 on HAC now. May still have room to rise.

Her summer 2012 headlining tour was 9 small West Coast dates. That said, she does have a fairly lively calendar of small appearances at festivals, events, and other one-offs. Martinez is, for instance, a lot more visible than Melanie Amaro or Jermaine Paul. She’s clearly working hard and (not irrelevant!) competently managed.

I didn’t realize “Come Along” was moving up the charts. That’s such great news! It’s such an awesome and inspiring song. I remember following it’s progress 4-5 months ago, and I thought it fell of the radio charts then, but now I don’t remember if it broke the top 50 then. BTW, I think Vicci also toured in Canada.

Ok, I’m back on topic!  The Xtina/Blake song is terrific, and their voices go well. It should be a hit
