@sprinkling is tweeting from the concert tonight. Adam came out to sign this afternoon. She’s got some nice pictures.

It appears to be a folded up, white piece of cloth that hit Adam and that he kicked the audience. And it looks to me like he kicked it to get it out of the performance area.

I doubt Adam’s headshot is the only one getting screams…at the Staples Center concert, the headshots or Danny and Kris both got lots of screams. But I’m sure there were wild screams when Adam’s face popped on the screen.

Maybe this was already posted and it’s regarding the “mad” incident last night so hopefully I am not wrong to post it here but the same person who posted the above WLL that Q3 attached – that guy also posted Starlight and you can hear what Adam said when addressing the crowd. It sounds firm but he sort of laughs as he says “not AT me please” and I agree with all the posters that that had to be jarring for a performer to be hit. I am mainly a lurker here and enjoy the distinct personalities and witticisms on this site – although a bit terrified of being edited for posting this in the wrong thread, I admit! But if you haven’t heard what he said for yourself – it’s worth it IMHO.

Wonder if there will be less throwing things tonight.

Vis-a-vis the whole helium gate, if the songs are recording correctly, that is to say without this effect that people are hearing, but it’s not showing up on recordings…wouldn’t this more be a function of the human ears? I mean, if multiple people who report ‘helium’ live, but their videos show no evidence of it, than the fault factor is probably the humans. And some people’s ears may be suffering some sort of damage. And because people are different and people are also in different places having different levels of music effecting their ears, than their degree of damage might be different.

It could still be a sound mix/acoustic/placement of person issue, and that still might be it. But that again, people report that from where they were and hearing the helium live, that it’s not recording it. So it doesn’t seem to be a sound mix issue, per se because if it was, than it would record the sound mix issues, yes?

Or maybe not. This is just my latest theory, but I need more data. Just trying to solve the mystery. I would recommend in either event, wearing some of those orange foam ear blockers for the latter half of the show. My friend used to set up punk, and Ska show, and when we went, we always wore them. Had them around our necks in a handy caring case. Highly recommend.

I really do think that it was a knee jerk reaction. While lots of people feel like it was just part of WLL, they don’t realize that he did EXACTLY what he doesn’t want done to him. That kick was fierce, whatever it was went flying and if he hit floor, it was a lucky kick. I don’t blame him at all for that reaction – I doubt he can see these things flying at him until they are RIGHT there, so it is probably not a great feeling.

Anyway….on to Rochester (which is tied in my mind) with ugly old Hamilton.

That’s exactly what I meant. Many fans would not find it necessary to scream at headshots. And I think a lot of people normally want to listen and enjoy and that’s the reason why I find it irritating when people scream even during performances. Scream as you can when the performer steps on stage and then listen,dance and enjoy yourself. That’s me.

You just never know with these cameras, they obviously checked in Rochester, no problem with any cameras at Hamilton (but no video for some), but MJ took the BEST video in Charlotte (I think from the very front). They must have noticed, and said nothing. Not very consistent!

I don’t know about you, but from what I can see in this video, it still can be a dildo, some are more… flexible than others.
As Mj said, we have a first hand account on what the object is. And the video clearly shows exactly what Spring was talking about, that Adam kicked the object hard towards the crowd, not something recommended but understable under the circonstances.

IMO, these throwing incindents have been escalating since the first bra was thrown in Vancouver to a point now where people think it’s appropriate to throw crazier and crazier sex toys on stage for Adam just to get some attention.

Which is totally understandable, different angles, it’s dark, there are flashing lights and fog. This is how YouTube can be so helpful because multiple people are shooting from multiple angles. So we can get one that clearly shows there was a gunman on the grassy knoll, I mean it shows what Adam must have seen. Which was that what he kicked was really small, flat and definitely soft. Panties or jockstrap would be my guesses. He probably wasn’t too thrilled with it hitting him, but kicking something so small and clearly soft? he would have had to exert some real forceXspeed for it’s impact to cause pain by kicking it.

That is great – the one thing that amazed me was the crowd demographic. I am thankful for that or I would never have gone. I would NEVER have the guts to go when Adam is on a solo tour!

I think all these guys have some crazy fans. It seems they are all loved by many. Scott was never my fave (sorry Scott fans), but he seems to be getting good responses at every show.

Ask any law enforcement official and they will tell you that eye witness accounts of an event are very rarely reliable and that pretty much every witness claims to know all the true events and all the absolute facts. But, this very rarely happens.

I’m sure no one is telling tells out of school but everything goes through personal filters and feelings. Having something fly past your head is pretty daunting but I have heard people swear that a fast moving bumble bee was the size of a softball when they are retelling the story. Being startled upsets our ability to really correlate the accurate facts.

After reading twitters and reviews from about 27 or so Idol shows I am pretty sure that 50% of the information is fact and the rest is feelings or emotions or self-filters.

I went to the Cheap Trick/Poison/Def Leppard concert last night in Tampa and didn’t see a single bra thrown on stage.

Because as per my sociology and psychology classes, there is no such thing as an objective report. Which makes even physiological sense. When we encode our neural pathways, we do so from experience. Which is to say, we encode from what we know and from stimulus we are given. So this is not a slam to anyone, Spring included, who I think was unfairly slammed and that makes me sads.

S/he reported what s/he saw and that’s totally valid. The problem is that that is always suspect. Which is why forensics and things like video/audio assume more importance, because they don’t have the human coding/subjective quality.

Uh oh. Could be good or could be more Chipmunk-gate. Which, btw, I didn’t hear in either Ontario or San Diego, but I was nowhere near the stage in either place. I think Truthiness’ theory about each person’s hearing sensitivity makes sense (I hope I’m saying that right, going from memory). I know I have a huge sensitivity to vibration once volume reaches a certain level ‘“ and it can be one notch between me being fine with it and it totally piercing my eardrums.

The last two times I went to the cellcast, I picked up some nasty viruses. I think I will just stay away.

Absolutely! My daughter had a 101 fever and no voice one morning on the opening night of a show. She got a sinus cocktail shot and performed that night(including two solos). She sounded great…but she was drained after the show.

Some crazyheads would want that. They’d run to the tattoo parlor and have their black eye immortalized for all time. Then they’d hit the boards with their photos, bragging, bragging.

I’ve had to take cortisone shots when I had it and my glands were huge and I needed to sing as I had a solo part.

Yes they now have fix for this. I lost my voice a couple of years back and EENT specialist said it was due to over fatigue of the vocal chords plus the pollution in Guangzhou and the stress of constant intercon travel ,changing time zones on a weekly basis was getting to me – as I badly needed to regain use of it because of an important conference , he gave me a shot and following day I was okay. I did not have any fever nor was I coughing but for some strange reason nothing came out of my mouth.But I had to rest though after that . Med science now has some fix on these things.

I third it (if that’s even a thing). I half wondered if the hypnofog wasn’t to blame for the chipmunk effect at my concert. Probably not. But I can believe that it would irritate your throat if you had to stand in great billows of the muck night after night, breathing deeply.

Hunh. Because in the clubs I used to go to and dance in, our smoke always smelled like coconut. I actually did worry and wonder about what they were making the fog/smoke out of for Adam, because he has several songs in whatever they are using for fog/smoke. Only Allison has part of one song in it, and that is less than he has.

Hopefully, they considered the effects of the almost daily exposure of whatever that is over a long period. You have to wonder about the throat irritation and even headaches. I think it would be just fine without it. Why risk it if it can be harmful to both performers and audience?

Kris was really good last night, but the genre/stage presence difference between he and Adam is like hitting a brick wall. It really depends on your musical preference. I like both, but liked Adam’s more because of the stage presence.

However, there is something about Kris’ bottom lip that has me intrigued.

I just can’t go there I’m afraid. I spent a good deal of time while Kris was on thinking how much he reminds me of a my son (in looks and he plays the guitar) and how I was certain that he has a shirt very similar to the one that Kris had on.

There were report from the Hamilton concert that the vast majority of people were waiting for Adam. Some extimated that it was 90% — and when Security and Michael told them that Adam was sick and not signing many people got really mad.

IMO, this girl not only has the perfect rocker voice, but also the perfect rocker look.

Here’s a little info from years of being around musical theatre. You have to be extra careful once you get a steroid shot. You can actually reach higher notes, you just shouldn’t. Think about getting a cortisone shot in your knee-then you don’t feel the pain. If you push it, you might really do some damage. Pain is there for a reason-to tell you to be careful. I’m sure Adam knows this and is making adjustments.

LOL! What makes it look like he is tanned is Adam is pretty much covered in freckles and add to that his body hair is strawberry blonde and you get that ‘tanned’  look.

yep. My dad is fair, but he has this with freckles and such and always looks more tan than me.

Maybe we can debate over whether it was Adam’s words from last night that got out and made people leave their crap at home, or whether security finally stepped up their game and frisked everyone for sex toys and confiscated all bras.

I can second that! Last night it wafted over me and it tastes awful and it smells.

Feel badly for Adam if that is the case. From where I was sitting Tuesday night at the Nassau Coliseum, I could see the smoke wafting off the stage and over the floor seats. I have up front floor seats to a show next week, but hadn’t considered having to deal with foul tasting and smelling stage smoke Any advice?

Alas, I’m pretty sure they’re a Kradam fan (I know them from another board as such), not just a Kris fan. Though they like Kris first, it’s true, they also like Adam. Must be the Adam fan part of them that has a, as you call it “backbone,” and sharp objects. Now that’s something we can blame Adam for tonight, as he sadly hasn’t done anything else worthy of new gates.

Of course Adam stole it from some orphans!! And then just got bored with it and tossed it aside. Kris just happened to stumble upon it backstage where Adam carelessly left it. Thank goodness Kris didn’t trip and fall because of it. LOL!

I for one always believed you. You just wrote what you saw. I saw the video and knew it was not a towel or cloth. I think Adam’s kicking it was a knee jerk reaction though..(no pun intended)… He did not like it that it hit him and I think he felt bad he reacted where kicking it could have hit someone and that is why he made the announcement later about not throwing it at him..Oh weird that someone would want to throw that thing.

Totally random question, but the kicking put me in mind of those gold boots – do we know if Adam bought them?

I have never had a warning like that before. Has this happened to anyone else at this site? (I have Norton internet security on my system so I should be protected).

Looking at the video, I DO not think that is what he kicked. Someone on IDF said they threw the kicked item – a rolled up a tshirt that was tightly taped. Whatever it was still had some speed going by my head and I think you can see that in the video.

The picture is just to show you what the guy showed to me. He also pulled out a black bra that he said was for Sarver, but the girl on IDF is taking credit for that one.

ETA: Who the hell knew there were so many Canadians who wanted to throw insane shit at the guy and they were all around me? Cool you found what was shown to you, but as you yourself say, that probably wasn’t what was thrown and therefore hit Adam and what he therefore kicked. I don’t think there is any disputing that Adam kicked something at this point. Though we don’t know what or with what intent. But from the latest YouTube what he did kick is, I would maintain, smaller, flatter, whiter and cloth. So not what is shown in your Twitterpic.

Which is not to say this person might have thrown that at a different part of the stage, maybe when Adam was being hit by something else and kicking something? Could be two seperate events? Possible.

Yep. I have gotten this twice in the last week. Norton worked. My other computer had McAfee. McAfee failed. Where were you linked to at the time?

YES!!! That happened to me this morning and has happened at least twice in the past, and ONLY here on this blog! My feeling is that it was a link to a web page that only looked like your system files, and not real. I did not try to do anyhting but use Task Manager to close my browser and then just logged back in. Nobody should click on ANY of those prompts to scan their system! I also have Norton Internet Security and it has found nothing at all, so that’s why I’m sure it’s a fake site.

That sounds like an ad. It looks like your virus scanner is popping up, but it’s really an advertisement for some software.

Re: Fog Machines – in my musical theatre experience NOTHING was more important than the voice of a performer…if ANYTHING was detrimental to the singing it was stopped or changed…if the fog which is foul was affecting Adam I’m sure TPTB would temp eliminate it from his set!

It would really be NO different than pulling NB from Kris’ set! What is BEST for the performer is what’s BEST for everyone! I assume they have a producer or SM to travel with the tour and can make decisions if necessary!

There is soo much said about these AI kids every night and I truly think they are to be commended and deserve raves for putting themselves out there!!!!!! I hope they all do well and whether their career is stupendous or just allows them to make a living by making music instead of a dangerous oil rig I’m proud of these young people having the guts to go for it!!!!!

If it was a rolled up t-shirt tightly taped then they shouldn’t have thrown it directly at him …. I would imagine that something like that thrown at some force and htting you on the knee would still hurt.

YES!!! That happened to me this morning and has happened at least twice in the past, and ONLY here on this blog! My feeling is that it was a link to a web page that only looked like your system files, and not real. I also have Norton Intenet Security and it has found nothing at all, so that’s why I’m sure it’s a fake site.

Recently I’ve been getting some adware/spware from this site and pop-ups, etc., that I hadn’t before. So I ran my spybot search and destroy, and it was all good. But yeah, new development, like within the past two days.

Before this tour, I use to read several books each week(usually 5). I now spend excessive quantities of time reading and posting to this blog. Books are gathering dust. When computer went out, desperation set in as to how I was goint to read this blog. I cannot access this at work. Luckily, I could read from the Blackberry. MFL.

Yep, only here, so MJ’s description of an ad sounds highly likely, although I did not click on anything, just refreshed the page when it happened. Awhile ago I logged in to post a comment (about the stage smoke/fog possibly affecting Adam’s throat), and within about one minute I got a full-screen warning from Internet Explorer that my system was ‘under attack’  from ‘multiple sources’  (viruses and worms) and that my entire system was now at risk. I have never had a warning like that before. Has this happened to anyone else at this site? (I have Norton internet security on my system so I should be protected).

Yes it happened to me about an hour ago. It brought up all the drives and showed that they were all infected with hundreds of worms and trojans then wanted you to click a box to clean them. Of course I didn’t click to clean I clicked close. Then everything went all screwy. This is a brand new computer. Have only had it a week so I freaked. I called my son who is a software developer and he told me I shouldn’t have clicked close I should have clicked the x to close the box. Anyway he walked me through steps to get rid of it and then I ran a full McAffee virus scan…that’s where I’ve been for the last hour. The scan came up clean. Son told me not to go back to the site I was at when this happened and of course I was here. I told him I visit this blog all the time and this has never happened so I didn’t think it was this site but now that’s it’s happening to others I’m wondering.

A macro in that context is the combination of a photo with text on it, usually something funny or snarky. I’m not 100% sure but I think LOLcats popularized the “art form” and since then they have invaded every part of the internet, including the Idolsphere. Macros are one of ONTD_AI’s favorite forms of communication, sometimes their comment threads consist almost entirely of hilarious macros.

So basically the act of putting funny text in LOLcat-esque format on a photo turns it into a macro. There are tons of free macro builders on the web.

Yeah, probably just some spyware/adware. I recommend you get a program to deal with it. I really do like spybot search and destroy, others may have other recommendations. You can load the latest version of spybot free from cnet. That’s just me, and I hope this isn’t against the rules! Sorry mj if it is. :/

Well it probably started out where a macro can be “A Small Program: A macro can also be a small program, or script, that automates common tasks.” What this means for ontd_ai and other internet users is a pre-made picture that you can then add text to using a simple program. A macro in this instance, is a template, if you will.

I am a Kris fan, and I am fine with that review. He talks about how the drama this season was that the wrong guy won, and then about all of the fan noise for Adam.

Then he seems to get a bit sucked into that quiet hypno thing that Kris does and ends up with ‘versatility’ and he ‘could happen’.

Then he says that Danny and Allison are more limited than Allen and Lambert.

So, I am fine with it.

I am starting to feel really bad for Matty though. He was ignored early on, then became a critics’ darling for a few weeks, and now he gets gored and trampled every show. He must wonder what happened, because I sure do.

I just watched Lupin 788′s video of WLL again (what a great video!) and near the beginning there are two rolled up / tubular sort of items on the stage in front of Adam. Then later when he is on the other side of the stage, a third one hits him and he kicks it back.
Sorry if this has already been said – I got a little bit lost in the cloud of tubular items that is floating above the posts tonight…
And if he was feeling bad (as he apparently was, and certainly sounded it in the Twilight vid), it would have been just miserable to be hit with something – and yes, it looked as though there was some real anger behind that kick!

at 1:31-1:34 we see at his feet, two small, cloth things, looks like panties, too small to be jockstraps, bras or anything else. The one on his left appears to be blue, there is one thrown at 1:31, it appears to be white-ish in colour. Then at 2:16 he is hit at his left mid-thigh with something. It is very small, clearly cloth and fairly flat when it lies at his feet. He then kicks it at 2:19. It is not that toy that person showed. That toy is too big and didn’t have the same mass (or lack thereof) when it hit Adam’s thigh at 2:16. Nor when it laid there until 2:19 when he kicked it. At least that’s what my Zaprudering showed me. YMMV.

That was exactly what came into my mind after reading it. I may be wrong but what I gathered was this:

These appear to match. We do see him being hit with something that appears softer, but I am not sure we can tell which he kicked?

The wiggle toy could have been thrown but the second photo is a composite and fake. The video is clear and there is not cut between the hit and the kick at 2:19. And the only thing on the floor is the white cloth object. This is what Adam kicks.

Spring2009, I have no doubt that the guy next to you had a toy like this, but if these photos are from the same guy, he is clearly playing games with the second photo — and the claim that he hit Adam with the wiggle toy.

I am still puzzled why anyone would want to take credit for hitting Adam with a projectile during a concert — or any other time?

And he’s not some kid — according to his MySpace page, he’s 26 years old. That is old enough to know better.

Indeed, I won’t subject my English History past upon this post, but suffice it to say, yes that’s a valid point. But in Kris’s defense, that was a long time ago, it was people’s last name and/or title (long story) and typically not a first name. Even in ye olde days in England, much less modern day America.

Sorry, not really great at explaining this but I am not sure if this person with the Adam/toy picture has anything to do with the actual person who brought the toy. I am not that great at maneouvering around twitter. One of the concert goers tweeted to the other concert goer the link to the toy on stage. Not sure if they know that person. (if no, maybe it is legit, if yes, maybe it is photoshopped. I don’t know how anyone can tell with this photoshopped stuff, some of it is so bloody good.

Well Danny doesn’t seem to do be net positive. Not the least is from me, to be honest. But being honest as I try and be, I do think that it sounds like Danny seems to be doing pretty well on this tour, in terms of getting good fan response and some good reviews. Not great all the time, but no one gets that. From the tour recaps and reviews, it seems to me that Danny is surprising a lot of people in positive ways. Plus he seems to be winning people over with how he acts at the barricades. So that’s cool.

Honestly, I’m not going to change my opinion of Danny, but I am beyond trivial in the scheme of things, so my opinion way doesn’t matter.

Ah Tony, where is your sense of adventure? To tell the truth, two nondildo-gate concert threads would tend to do that to you, huh? But, don’t stay away just on that account, I’m sure we will go on to some other _____-gate tonight! Well, I won’t I’ll be at a DM concert, but I’ll tune in as soon as I get back.

Although I know that it’s a Jell-O pudding pop of a topic by now, I am going to completely reverse what I said and think that what Adam did kick was that weird toy dildo thingey nastiness. Review: ‘American Idol’ tour sticks to formula

Reminder:

The topic of this thread is last night’s show and the tour. I will be deleting off-topic posts.

There were many twitter reports that it was Emo hair tonight. But it more like Elvis hair. Adam’s hair is in a new style — it’s up and back but not quite Elvis. And it destroys the theory of hat in afternoon = Elvis at night. Because Adam was “hatless” in the afternoon and his hair was down.

This is another video of the Hamilton concert WLL — and three things are clear:

1. It is fabric or something soft and tied in the middle – 2:26 on video.

2. It was moving very fast when it went into the audience. – 2.29 on video.

3. The photo on MySpace that looked like it was “created” in photoshop roughly matches this video. – 2.28 on video

Someone on AO is going to the concert tonight, and is planning on throwing a leopard print paddle, hoping Adam will hit his butt with it, and she has lots of undergarments to throw as well. Most of us have strongly discouraged her from doing it. If he got hit in the face with that paddle, it would really smart. Could get interesting tonight.

I’m so glad Rochester spared him onstage “gifts”.

I love how he is wearing his hair; looks like he finally got that long-awaited haircut. His voice sounds great and his dance moves are hot. If he’s got laryngitis, whatever they’ve got him on, and the vocal rest is working.

Hey, I was at the show last night in Rochester. Had a 5th row, floor seat! Some observations:

- Wow, Adam is quite the performer. Someone said he was sick, but I’m doubting that. His voice is absolutely amazing. There was a girl standing in the aisle right next to me, with a sign and he came over almost at the edge of the stage and totally made eye contact with all of us. We were going nuts! Also, saw him make eye contact with many people in the audience.

- Yes, Rochester was garment free, but we are not boring. Just smart! And YES, we are very noisy!!

- All the Idols did a good job. Not going to pick favorites. Obviously, Adam, Kris, Allison, and Danny were the standouts. They are amazing singers and performers. Hope everyone has fabulous careers.

- At the end of show, by the buses when security announced Adam was not coming out. People would not leave. Security had to actually shoo people away.

- At the meet and greet before the show, I was next to the barricade and a young, sexy-looking Asian woman weaseled her way next to me and was openly flirting with a security guard trying to get backstage passes so she can meet Adam. Thought that was hysterical!

Awesome! Adam’s talking voice during the Hamilton vids sounded fine, so I’m guessing it’s not as serious as laryngitis (fingers crossed) and he’s just resting, staying away from the M&Gs etc to keep things from getting aggrevated. I get so nervous for him, though, for any kind of health issues.

I think my favorite is this one (not only for Adam but if you look at the video camera on the left, you will note that the camera operator has a little stuffed sheep mounted on his camera’“so hilarious!).

WOW-So being pissed off about something that not only could hurt a fan (adams or not) and hurt adams career means i hate his music.I’m not like some people i don’t wear blinders when it comes to AI.I love ALLISON she was my favorite.The worst song i have seen to date on the tour.Lets make this clear out of all 10 idols.Was “so what” in DC it sucked but its ok the sun came up the next day.

I know its hard for some fans to think that others can see bad things but still like the singer.If adam comes out with “lady GA GA” music it would be a waste of great vocals.Just like if ALLISON came out with disney music it would be a waste.

One thing you have to remember with Idol. They are all great performers and singers, but they are singing karaoke. Until they come out with their own material, that’s when the true test begins. Either the general public & critics love it or hate it. You also have a short window of opportunity to hit the mark, because this time next year there will be a whole new crop of Idols vying for your attention.

I was at the concert last night too. 5th row as well. I thought many performances were better last night rather than on the show. Some surprises- Michael, Megan and Anoop. They all sounded and looked better than on the show. Matt, by far my favorite, was great. I can’t wait til he has his own album. He is so much better without the pressure. Alison and Danny were good, but not too much different than the show. I’m still not an Adam fan, so even though many were screaming for him, he is still not my cup of tea. He was good, but I think is energy was better on the show. Kris, I thought he was better on the show. And I felt bad that many sat for his set.
