Pop Goes the Camera

Kiss and Tell

  • Diana

Pop Goes the Camera is a catchy tune.

However, those tight metallic pants do not work. At all. He should stick to jeans.

  • St.Lucia

I like it. I’m an Adam fan though, So I guess he can do no wrong now? Lol.

I’m surprised I like it. I sometimes dig things that feel a little less traditional than what I would listen to and Adam I think would continously surprise me.

He reminds me a bit of an artist I like named Mika, just less Mika and more Adam.

Regardless, I’ve got it stuck in my head now.

ETA: Because I posted before I was ready.

  • JOJOSIE

Thanks for the videos as I thought I’d seen all the vids out there but these are new. I’m under his spell. Not sure if it’s the theatrics, amazing voice, or the hypnotic eyes. Yes, I’m such an early fan that I’ve already joined a fan site. I’ve never done that this early for my two previous favorites, Taylor and Cook. All my favorites seem to be good entertainers as well as good singers. I especially like two videos out there that show a less flambouyant side. One is Is Anybody Listening, and the other is What’s Up (4 Non Blondes). Like I said before I really, really like this guy.

  • stelladallas

    Adam, you’re so pretty!

  • http://www.myspace.com/gundomom CarieB

Adam pulls off the “smokey eye” better than most women – LOL. I like Pop Goes the Camera waay better than Kiss and Tell. It is going to be really interesting to watch him as the show progresses, especially on the narrow theme nights. I do like him though.

  • maracaibo

He is too theatrical. I think he will go far but I hope he doesn’t wins.
I just don’t see him as a recording artist. But Broadway for sure.

  • kimberann

Wow, he is awesome! AI still needs a pop male artist. Ruben:R/B, Elliott-Soul, Archuleta:Disney pop, Chris and David Cook: rock/pop. I can see Adam doing really well in pop.

  • poporange

Seems someone raided Liberauchi (spelled wrong)glizty closet..

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

I listened to this stuff (plus some more) a while back (thanks star :)), and I liked it. Listening to it, I can see why he likes Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. Sigh. I can forgive him for that, because despite their lack of singing skills, they do have catchy, fun songs.

Anyway, he’s definitely got potential. I agree that it’s going to be interesting (and fun) to watch him during the competition and how he handles the theme weeks. Apparently TPTB see something besides “too Broadway” if they a) like him a lot and b) put him in the top 36.

This stuff is definitely different from the stuff that he did with his band, The Citizen Vein.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

Neither song impresses me that much, even though I like dance music (but a bit on the heavier side). However, I do think he looks purty with a lot of make up on. I almost want him to win just to see what TPTB will do with him. I have a feeling he could either be a highly entertaining contestant, or a hugely disappointing one (based on his “Believe” song choice). Looking forward to finding out…

  • folk

ok. officially cannot vote for him now.

see…Erasure for the musical stylings of mister smokey eye.

  • dante

I like this guy despite being one of the “older” posters here lol. I like his voice and his looks (especially his eyes).

Wow JOJOSIE – Taylor and David Cook have been my top two favs too. But I am not sure that Adam is my fav this year yet as I really like a few others too. Time will tell. But he definately has my attention.

  • soundscene

Wow, he is awesome! AI still needs a pop male artist. Ruben:R/B, Elliott-Soul, Archuleta:Disney pop, Chris and David Cook: rock/pop. I can see Adam doing really well in pop.

Ok, I’m disagreeing strongly with some of those classifications, but that’s not why I’m responding. Adam isn’t the type of male pop that Top 40 radio responds to right now. I don’t even think he’s pop–he’s more dance/techno if he releasing music like these two songs. That seems to work alright for some females (Britney (sometimes), Lady Gaga (although even they are the exceptions)) but isn’t really right for a male artist trying to go mainstream. Currently, on Top 40 radio, a male artist needs to be pop/rock or pop/R&B. Alt/rock and post-grunge rock will occasionally work as well.

This reminds me more of what I used to listen to in the gym back when I lived in San Francisco. Or what I heard in the clubs. It’s club music. And that’s a fine genre to be in, but it’s really not what Top 40 is for male artists right now.

My guess is that Adam is going to attempt to be more mainstream than this. He wouldn’t be auditioning for AI if he didn’t have it in his mind that he wanted a mainstream recording career.

ETA: The two audio recordings just posted are different. I guess if you had to put them in some format today they would go under alternative. Kind of difficult to classify. If we were living in the 70s it would be easier.

  • Betty Brown

He makes David Cook look straight.

  • Dr. Tracey

I like Kiss and Tell but i’ll listen with my eyes closed because he totally creeps me out.

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

I just posted some new stuff…

  • abbysee

I love Adam. He gives good face, lol. I know he won’t wim, but he will make the ride totally worth it. I think what he has going for him is that he is interesting and his voice is quite supple and that will work well within the strictures of the show. American Idol however is not ready for an openly gay idol. Sad but true.

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

    mj,

The last one that is labeled “Turning On”, when you click on it, it plays “Rough Trade”. I wanted to be absolutely sure before I said anything. :)

  • cheese

I listened to a little of Turning On (couldn’t understand what he was singing) and a little of Pop Goes the Camera (sounds like background music from a bad early 80s movie).

I still think Adam will be an entertaining contestant even if I’m not dying to buy his stuff. He can obviously sing – if they stuck him with the right song factory, I’m sure he could be a successful recording artist. (I’m not sure how many more years he can wear the makeup before he starts looking like a sad clown though)

  • Duke

I think its awesome how Adam can tear it apart on stage and act totally normal when hes not performing. I hope he has 1 week where he can do this kinda stuff- just for simon’s reaction.

  • star

I personally like the stuff with his band better. I hope someone uploads “The Circle” because it is WIN. ♥

  • leome

This reminds me more of what I used to listen to in the gym back when I lived in San Francisco. Or what I heard in the clubs. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s club music. And thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a fine genre to be in, but ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s really not what Top 40 is for male artists right now.

Exactly what it reminded me of… Gym and clubs 10 years ago.
I think both are quite dull.
    I liked à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Crawl Through the Fireà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . Very 70s but I thought it was good.

I’m not really into this guy’s music, but it will be interesting to see what he does on the show. He has a fantastic voice, and really great stage presence, but what side of him will he show?

  • CRB

I wouldn’t vote for this guy with a machine gun at my back.

He makes David Cook look straight.

This made me laugh. At least you didn’t say Nathaniel.

  • St.Lucia

Oooh! I like the new stuff even MORE!!! He’s just AWESOME. I love “Crawl through the fire” and I DIG the Classic 70’s rock.

I really think he CAN sing anything…and I’ll like it. :)

  • anijsch

That seems to work alright for some females (Britney (sometimes), Lady Gaga (although even they are the exceptions)) but isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t really right for a male artist trying to go mainstream. Currently, on Top 40 radio, a male artist needs to be pop/rock or pop/R&B. Alt/rock and post-grunge rock will occasionally work as well.

But that is exactly the reason why it can work out, because it is something new for a men.
And I think Idol would love it to establish an artist with something new.

Oh and whoever have leaked it now:
    Good work.

  • cay

LOL. I love the guy. I like Turning On the best. I see how he doesn’t appeal to some people, but I think he’s got tremendous potential. Huge potential. As a fan of Archie last year, I’m not getting into the trap of arguing whether he can record music to be played on top 40. (He can find a venue to be successful, as can probably all the top 12 with the right people and support.)

He’s exactly what Idol needs. He’s super talented, has stage presence, is confident and a bit fierce and he’s just enjoyable. I know he has zero chance to win, but at least I am very interested in the show and look forward to being entertained. I’ll take that! (I am one of the many who thought Idol had run it’s course and was bored with the same old singers. I’ll have to give to Idol – Adam, Nate, the blonde girl with red tips, Jackie. They give hope to many)

Ha. The more I read and hear about him, the more I love him.

  • Tony

He makes David Cook look straight.

    …..lol!

  • Niall

This guy is very talented. That electro pop sound is really in right now. If nothing else he might be able to parlay AI into a music career in Europe, where the issue of his sexuality isn’t likely to be an issue at all.

  • St.Lucia

    I agree, Cay.

He is EXACTLY what Idol needs. If he picks the right song choices he can go deep in the Top 12. He’s so eccentric and eclectic that I do think he’s capable of doing anything. He’s got a stage presence that doesn’t quit and I find him extremely captivating. I think he’s entirely what needs to happen to idol.

    Idol NEEDS someone like him.

I think he is going to make this season very interesting.

Love him or hate him, he’s going to make a lot of talk.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

But that is exactly the reason why it can work out, because it is something new for a men.
And I think Idol would love it to establish an artist with something new.

Eh, its not new. She just said it’s not currently what’s hot on the radio. That doesn’t make it new.

That said, I need to listen to the new tracks.

    ETA: Still not sold.

  • chicksineggz

    I honestly.. hate it.
    Just sharing my opinion (:

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

This guy is very talented. That electro pop sound is really in right now. If nothing else he might be able to parlay AI into a music career in Europe, where the issue of his sexuality isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t likely to be an issue at all.

Based on the above, he’ll need some guidance in songwriting and producing, for sure.

  • http://www.myspace.com/gwendolyndiane GwendolynD

    Seriously? No.

I need to see what he’s gonna do on Idol.

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

He is EXACTLY what Idol needs. If he picks the right song choices he can go deep in the Top 12. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s so eccentric and eclectic that I do think heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s capable of doing anything. Well, I know he’s exactly what *I* need on AI this year.

I’ve supported the really good performers, and also the really good voices, and also the really good personalities. Adam is a very interesting mix of great voice, great entertainer, great stage presence, and great personality, for me. He’s interesting. I like him. *shrug*

Based on the above, heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll need some guidance in songwriting and producing, for sure.

Don’t pretty much all the contestants who come from the show? Not very many people at all are prolific songwriters right off the bat. I know I’ve said that a few times before about certain contestants after hearing their original music. Adam is certainly not the first. Needing guidance or cowriters has certainly not stopped other alumni from being successful.

Anyway… I think my faves are “Pop Goes the Camera” and the one that star mentioned, “The Circle.”

  • Deejay

“Crawl Through the Fire” is the best (of the solo stuff), but you need to watch him perform it.

    ROFLMBO.

    Win.

Anyway, the band music is much better. Most of the other stuff, I wouldn’t listen to. But I still find Adam extremely entertaining.

  • Natasha

I agree with Cay and Lucia. He’s something different and Idol needs that right now. This is the eighth season and at least they’ll be serving up something new with him.

I think he can sing anything so it’s just a question of what direction he’ll go in. Maybe he’ll keep re-inventing himself through the course of the season. I hope he does something pretty wild one week (like what’s above) in the hopes that he’ll make Simon’s head explode if nothing else.

He’s definitely talented and charismatic. I wasn’t looking forward to Idol this season but I am now because he’ll be interesting to watch.

  • St.Lucia

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Crawl Through the Fireà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ is the best (of the solo stuff), but you need to watch him perform it.

Well. That was one hot mess.

    I rather enjoyed it.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

Donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t pretty much all the contestants who come from the show? Not very many people at all are prolific songwriters right off the bat. No, I didn’t mean to imply that it would stop him. In fact, my point was that he NEEDS the help to be a post-Idol success. Meatloaf-esque tunes and bad dance tracks won’t do the trick.

As for other Idols, I see your point. However, I’d argue Taylor’s earlier stuff was better than he post-Idol dreck.

  • snuffles

Thanks for posting these MJ! I see you found even more! WOW! I actually like the recorded version of “Crawl Thru The Fire” a lot better than the live performance. It’s funkier and more subdues. Adam definitely over cooked it live.

Overall, I think I prefer the pop/dance song style on him the best.

  • Suzanne

oh man. that shot at the top of this thread.

  • SpenserJ

oh man. that shot at the top of this thread.

LOL, I’m totally speechless. I can’t even think of anything to say to any of it – the pictures, the 80’s electronica techno pop, the Knots Landing circa 1984 eye makeup, and don’t even get me started on the skin tight gold pants.

I’m trying to keep an open mind and give him a shot at winning me over on the show, but it just keeps getting harder and harder.

I am however interested to see how much of this Adam we actually see on the show. And of course, America’s reaction to it should be priceless.

  • haininh

I’m sorry but that picture of Adam creeps me out!

  • JudyOhio

To me, he doesn’t look like those pictures now. Maybe it’s because he’s just a little bit older, or because his face is more filled out at the jawline, dunno. With all the theme nights, it’s going to be very interesting to see what he does with them. And that is when we’ll find out if he is wanting to stay “theatrical” in makeup/costume or if he wants to go more mainstream. My ears don’t like the higher male singing voice for whatever reason, but he’s going to definitely add to the show’s entertainment value for me.

  • Lexus

I love all the songs above, but I too am a biased Adam supporter. There is something very intriguing about this guy. His voice grabs me. He’s entertaining and I love his look. I really wish he could lay it all out on Idol. Talk about shaking up the season. I’m surprised by how much I like him. He’s quite a stretch from my favorite last season – Archie!

  • Lys

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m surprised by how much I like him. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s quite a stretch from my favorite last season – Archie!

Lol. Well, at least no one can accuse you of having narrow musical tastes. :laugh_tb:

Me, I still don’t get all the fuss about Adam. But hey, who knows, he may yet surprise me. :) Part of me hopes he will. (The other part is still cringing at the sparkly pants and mediocre dance tracks.)

  • dcisluv

YEESH. This is really not my thing.

    At all.

  • tinawina

He’s definitely a throwback. Should be fun to watch. I don’t see America voting him the winner if he keeps this kind of vibe though. Which is kinda sad, in the sense that I remember when American Idol voters didn’t give a rats ass who fit in on pop radio. LOL. Now it’s like we do 19Evill’s job for them by whittling out the “unmarketable”. Sigh.

  • sunchick

Okay, I’ve seen a vid of Crawl Through the Fire before, thumbs up on that one, and I like I Got This more than I should :laugh_tb:. Kiss and Tell, just no. Pop Goes The Camera…well, it has a good beat and you can dance to it. It would be fun to put him into the hands of a better producer and lyricist. We’ve had the big voices out the wazoo, we’ve had a serious artist last season in Cook….maybe this is the year of the stage show? You never know.

    letà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s go dancing boys!

MJ, I think you said it best. Hee.

  • Grammie Kari

I like this guy despite being one of the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“olderà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ posters here lol. I like his voice and his looks (especially his eyes).

Dante, it is for that reason I DO like Adam. He reminds me a bit of David Bowie, and this is exacrly what AI needs to jump start its motor. He’ll be GOOD on tour.

He has more experience than I prefer; however, I can make an exception in this case. I see Adam in the Top 4.

When the make-up people get done with Adam – he will look like David Bowie in his hey day!

  • May

Well, if he won he would be the first truly eccentric winner that came out of the show (which is good). However, the music definitely screams 70s and 80s and he sort of reminds me of a cross between Billy Idol and David Bowie (which is not good ).

This is the first season that I’ve known a bit about the contestants before seeing them perform a lot and although it’s fun to have this window into their pre-idol lives, I can see how it would really bias people with the voting. So far, Adam has been a little too theatric for my taste but he has the kind of personality and voice that would make him do very well in the pop or alternative scene….he would just need some good cowriters to bring him into the 21st century…unless of course, his goal is to take over Broadway. For me, he’s one of the few interesting contestants this season, so I will definitely be tuning in to see what he does…just not sure if I like him yet.

  • claireb7tx

I like him too! go figure.

  • TwigLA

He just annoys me for some reason. My first and continuing impression is he’s a Freddie Mercury wannabe. I will say that he does have a good voice and puts on a show. I’d enjoy seeing him in musical theatre or the San Francisco club scene. He screams out Forever Babylon.

He is who he is though, and it will be interesting to see how he adapts in the Idol bubble of reprocessing and molding into their image of a star.

Something I don’t get is why all these recordings and videos are out there when for the other contestants they’ve been pulled.

  • Tess

Idol contestants have had to pull their music but it doesn’t mean anyone else out there in youtubedom can’t post stuff they have! We’ll be seeing every piece of film or hearing every recording ever made by these contestants before the ride is over…embarassing baby pictures are probably already starting to surface. Geezzz.

Adam reminds me of the guy that every cop, forensic, lawyer show in TVland casts as the androgenous entertainer that either gets wacked or does the wacking. Adam has already type-casted himself and that will be a really tough hurdle for him to climb. No matter how hard the “enlightened” will try to push him forward, the “Middle American” Grandma viewer will hold him back. Don’t think there won’t be a big stink if he gets very far in the competition…and the more votes he gets early the bigger chance AI has of getting a very blah finalist to offset Adam’s showiness. Just lettin’ you know!

  • miknge

Wow! For some reason, I love all his original songs posted here, although I’m not a fan of his yet. *blinks in surprise* Now that’s what i’m talking about! I think he could succeed doing this type of music, only, make it a little more mainstream and emo rock type, then he’d be good to go.

  • butter

Um….yikes. I liked him better before I saw all that. Actually, I didn’t like him then either. He’s…screechy.

  • littlepark

    I can’t help thinking… Adam Ant!

  • reinharv

No matter how hard the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“enlightenedà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ will try to push him forward, the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Middle Americanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Grandma viewer will hold him back.

Totally agree. Sorry, I just can’t get over the OTT overt “gay” thing. In additon, he’s too theatrical for my tastes (feel like I’m watching the movie “Birdcage”) and I think once the competition is in full swing his songs will probably be the same week after week. Sure there are many “enlightened” folks out there but Middle Americans may not be quite ready for him to be the American Idol. American Idol is viewed by families and it’s not just the “grandma” voters out there who will hold him back.

He is who he is though, and it will be interesting to see how he adapts in the Idol bubble of reprocessing and molding into their image of a star.

I think it’s too late for A.I. to mold him into anything or for him to “adapt.” He is who he is and he’s not going to fool anyone. “Adam has already type-casted himself and that will be a really tough hurdle for him to climb. ” Frankly, he annoys me, his facial expressions are way too intense and he does screech. I don’t see him being the next hottest Billboard Pop Star–sorry. If anyone had any doubt about him (which I would find incredible), that picture of him looking like a female artist would solidify it. Simon is going to tear him apart.

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

As for other Idols, I see your point. However, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d argue Taylorà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s earlier stuff was better than he post-Idol dreck.

Yes, I agree with that. JPL is another example of someone whose songwriting is just fine without 19’s “help.” :) Those are the primary two who kept me from making the comment inclusive of every contestant who has ever been on the show. :)

Adam has already type-casted himself and that will be a really tough hurdle for him to climb.

Well IMO, Adam has not ‘typecast’ himself in this competition. TPTB and viewers who have seen his prior work have. Nothing he’s done thus far on the actual show has even come CLOSE to being “theatrical” and gender-bending flamboyant boi as some of the videos he has on youtube. What he’s done on the show is tame.

Simon is going to tear him apart.

Well, Simon loved the “theatrical” guy on the X Factor a couple seasons ago. So unless he completely changes his tune for AI, nothing much suggests that he’s going to hate Adam. Especially since, although he established the catchphrase of the season in calling him “theatrical” in his audition, Simon STILL said yes to him. If Simon really hated him, I’d think he would have said a big, fat, resounding NO. He’s definitely not shy about doing so. But, we’ll see.

  • luckeee55

For me this has nothing to do with sexual orientation, it has everything to do with OTT theatrical, broadway, cruise ship, etc. Ummmm, just no.

  • Tess

When I refer to typecasting himself (sorry for the grammer slip up) I “knew” who Adam was long before I went to any of the other web sites. It’s not easy to showcase yourself as someone else (look at Normund) because “who you are” is that unique persona that you carry with you and is developed over time.

The hair, the stare, the facial expressions, the body movements, the song choices, his interviews all lead the casual viewer to come up with the same general impression of Adam. I really don’t think he has or could sell himself as the All American Boy. His “freak” flag flies high and proud!

Besides, if he is “proud” of himself as a person why should he have to change for the AI audience? Isn’t there room for everyone? The contestants just need to be aware that the general public is huge, is largely conservative, and accepts change and new ideas and idols slowly!

  • snuffles

We’ll just have to wait and see how Adam plays it on the show. We’ve got to remember the bulk of the AI viewing public is NOT on the internet checking out all of these videos. And the people who are, obviously found Adam interesting enough during his auditions to seek him out. Most of which are the younger, computer saavy, open minded types.

The majority of the viewers are going to be in the “wait and see” mode and will judge only by what Adam presents on the show. Will Adam tone it down or let his freak flag fly? I think he’ll play it safe at first and slowly get more flamboyant with each passing week.

ETA: It’s also possible that Adam might bring in whole NEW crop of voters that never got into Idol before.

  • dearauntagony

his freak flag is not at all flying high in the show. esp his interviews which show a regular human being and almost a boy-next-door kinda attitude. gosh i mean these are entertainers we’re talking about. i’m pretty sure they’re different onstage and offstage.

i think some of us here should at least listen to his music (of all genres and available easily on youtube and here) before stereotyping, judging and writing him off so quickly. He’s quite a chameleon. looking forward to seeing which persona he would adopt :)

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

Yes, I agree with that. JPL is another example of someone whose songwriting is just fine without 19à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“help.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ :) Those are the primary two who kept me from making the comment inclusive of every contestant who has ever been on the show. :)

Quoting my own comment because I can’t believe that I forgot to add Sligh to this list. :doh_tb:

  • star

Yeah, I’m not understanding the “typecast” comment either. Based on all the pre-Idol videos and music I’ve listened to, Adam’s a total chameleon. He can do the Broadway thing, the glam rock thing, the freak flag thing (lol), the subtle crooning thing (see “Dust In The Wind”), and who knows what else. TPTB haven’t shown half of what he can do on the show so far. I like Adam’s unpredictability factor and I can’t wait to see how decides to play it for the remainder of the competition!

I’m not seeing any hate from Simon so far either. He actually gave him a thumbs up after the Cher song, haha. Sarah, do you remember the name of the theatrical guy from X Factor? Was it Rhydian?

He’s a lot better here than he’s been so far on the show. But oh dear, what does he think he’ll get out of Idol…if he’s stuck with 19 they won’t have a clue what to do with him. He is talented and kind of cute, but I’ll probably be watching him more to see “Adam Lambert doing AI Motown week” and that kind of thing rather than as a serious contender.

I love flamboyant gay guys. Love drag queens. I say, he should let his freak flag fly. There’s room on Idol for all types and he’s as valid as anyone else. If they can have country, and r&b/hiphop, beatboxers, then by God they can have an openly gay colorful theatrical guy! And if people are uncomfortable with that, oh well. Not everybody loves it when KLC sings “God Bless the usa” either but we have to sit through it all. As for being “overtly” gay, well everyone else is overtly heterosexual so he’s got the right to be who he is too. I don’t think he’s trying to be like anyone else, he’s just being who he is. Some gay guys are theatrical. They just are.

I think if he sings “Crazy”, he will blow the doors off the place! It is just outstanding.

p.s. However, I still believe the phones were screwed up on purpose when I was trying to vote for Clay to finally win. Many, many others said they also could not get to vote for Clay. I found the same thing happened to me when I tried so hard to vote for Lance Bass on Dancing with the Stars.
Coinky-dink? I dunno. I hope they do not interfere & let people vote and have all the votes counted properly.

Sarah, do you remember the name of the theatrical guy from X Factor? Was it Rhydian?

Yeah, Star… the X Factor guy was Rhydian. I’ve seen some youtubes of his performances on the show and they crack me up. I don’t think Adam could really do all THAT on the show, since I don’t really know if America is quite ready for it. Because, if people are calling him theatrical now, based on what they’ve seen on the show… heh.

Now thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s what ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m talking about! I think he could succeed doing this type of music, only, make it a little more mainstream and emo rock type, then heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d be good to go.

Yeah, I think he’d fit right in to the alt rock scene. He certainly has the pipes. I can’t wait to see him burnin’ up that Idol stage! :smile1_tb:

I think heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d fit right in to the alt rock scene.

Well, maybe if he hadn’t gone on Idol…. If he wins or does well enough to get signed by Sony, he’s going straight (ha!) to CHR/HAC like all the other success stories. Maybe Kara can write generic Katy Perry-style songs for him.

As for being à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“overtlyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ gay, well everyone else is overtly heterosexual so heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s got the right to be who he is too.

Well, except for Norman/Nick, Nathaniel, and likely two others (not stirring THAT pot). Adam seems like Chuck Norris compared to some of these guys. The gay seems particularly strong in this year’s Top 18 men. I hope they’re all put in the same group.

I liked most of this, especially Crawl Thru Fire and I really liked Pop Goes the Music. Could definelty see “POP” going big in Europe if not in the dance scene here. I lived in Berlin when acid house and techno were really big. It’s was a great time. Lots of clubs, 24 hours, “anything goes” time. POP would have fit in easily, and I think it’s a sound that is timeless…or at least I think so. I also think people are itching to mix things up a bit. I hope he wins, but will not be surprised if he tops out at #2 or #3 because it’s a lot to ask from Middle America. (Although I have found Middle Americans more open-minded then they are given credit for sometimes ). But the fact that he’s got a growing fan base already is pretty great. Thanks MJ for posting thie vids and songs. As always you are one step ahead of the rest.

He’s like the perfect hybrid of David Cook and Constance Maroulis. Even Jim Verraros wishes he had that image. Come to think of it, he’s closer to being David Bowie than Nathaniel Marshall. I kind of hope he can release his music ASAP. “Kiss and Tell” would be endless on the dance floor.

IMO if this guy could ever have decided what he really wanted to be and gone for it, he would have made it long ago and without the need for Idol.

His voice is insane – that falsetto is killer – and he has stage presence for days, but he’s confusing. Is he a rocker? Is he dance/techno? Is he theatre? Versatility is great but you cannot come onto the scene trying to be too many things or people won’t be able to get a handle on you.

I’d love him to do well in the competition – he’s probably the only reason I’m tuning in this year – but I don’t believe he will unless he sets out his stall early and sticks with it. Chopping and changing between theatrical performances, stand-and-sing performances and camp entertainer performances may well have been what prevented Rhydian from winning X-Factor two years ago and I think it would probably see off Adam too.

I await his first performance with great interest…

I do apologize for not reading all the comments here so someone may have addressed this already. I am referring to the post someone made about the people who are watching and voting for AI are not necessarily the internet savvy. As someone who works in the biz on a promotion level…trust me, the majority of AI voters are females between the ages of 12-17 and are sitting in front of the TV with their Sidekicks waiting for the clock to strike 10 p.m. to start texting their votes a million times over. These hormonal young women are going to vote for “pretty” when it comes to male contestants not talent. Sadly Adam Lambert has both. Personally, I vote for him based on raw talent. Although I tend to work for indy artists or bands signed to smaller labels who write and perform their own original music, there is always a place in the industry for those who have musical talent but don’t play an instrument, can’t write lyrics, compose or without a penchant for arranging. So far that’s what I’ve seen from young Master Lambert. His original tracks are…what I classify as “myspace music”…it’s ok. It’s out there for you to listen to but I’ve heard a lot better. But give this guy somebody else’s compositions and he can put his own very special spin on them and then knock it out of the park. It kind of makes me think of Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. He wrote and she turned them into hits.

So please don’t think the “Granny factor” is going to bring down Adam’s flag. It’s going to be the screeching teenies who stop voting when they find out they don’t stand a chance of getting into his pants…not like they had one in the first place because what man wants to (1) sleep with jailbait and (2) give a second look to a girl who comes up to him (a total stranger) sceams at him and then grabs his *** (and yes, I have seen that happen at way too many shows)?

Even with all the comments I’ve been reading, it all comes down to the fact that the guy has talent – and a lot of it. Will he win, I sure hope he does but whether people can just take him for his talent and not his life choice remains to be seen. I hope that common sense wins out and he makes it through to the final.

I have to say though – win or not – he will be signed to a deal, no matter what, so we will get to continue to see him rock on!!
