Here’s An update to yesterday’s news  that the 8th audition episode would be eliminated, pushing up the beginning of the Hollywood Round by a day.  Check out the FOX schedule for the rest of  February.  There will be two days of the “final judgement” round instead of one, as was previously scheduled.  That’s great–we’ll get to see lots of the “last chance” performances before the Green Mile begins at the end of Part 1.

Also, the 400th episode celebration has been moved from February 28th to March 7th, which leads me to ask–which episode exactly is the 4ooth?

I wonder if they got the idea for the Performance Round from the Voice’s Battle Round, or whatever it’s called when they put the contestants in a ring.  That round didn’t work well for The Voice, so I hope it looks better for AI.

  • Anonymous

No..the performance round is the Vegas round, which happened last year before the voice even aired.

lol no, what Gangy said. it’s not actually a battle round.

If you add up the episode numbers on IMBD….Feb 8th would be the 400th episode. So, if it is accurate, tonight’s episode is actually episode 399.

I know that, but given the description and the new name, they are making it sound like the Voice’s battle round.  Last year, it was a great round, but aside from the Beatles theme, it just looked like another group round, and not a challenge or this “ contestants try to impress the judges during a grueling performance challenge. Some will shine, while others will crack under the pressure.”

I’m going to have to bookmark this page because I’m so forgetful when it comes to schedules.  Heh.  That’s interesting about the performance challenge.  Since I didn’t watch the first season of The Voice, I’m curious to see how that all shakes out.

Thanks for be so on top of things mj.  Very much appreciated!  :)

I know I’m being a grinch but do the Idol producers realize the top 24 spoilers have been out for awhile. Weeks of getting to them seems kind of anti-climactic to me. I don’t see any drama until we get to the live shows.

  • Kylee

98% of viewers don’t know about the spoilers.

I know lots of folks aren’t into spoilers, but a fair amount are. Why don’t they do the “Performance Challenges” live next year? Just a thought.

  • http://twitter.com/blkeener Brittany Keener

Very true. We are the 2%.

  • itsalleternal

If the spoilers become such a serious problem, they should do everything starting from Hollywood week LIVE.

WHOA. Just fixed all the typos in my post above. And that’s two days of “Final Judgement” episodes instead of one.

Why in the world is Madonna premiering her new video on Idol?  If I wanted to watch Madonna’s video I would do so online.  Is there a reason we should care about this?

  • Hazehel

If the spoilers become such a serious problem, they should do everything starting from Hollywood week LIVE.

Spoiler has never been a problem.  Only those who are big fans of the show would seek out spoilers, and if they are big fans of the show, the will watch it regardless.   The big news outlets don’t carry Top 24 spoilers, so most people (i.e. the vast majority of Idol viewers) don’t know about them.

And you can’t do Hollywood week live, when you see on TV is something that’s been condensed from a whole day or two of singing/drama into one hour.   If you see Hollywood week live, you’d be bored to tears.

  • Cindy Allen

Remember when Hollywood Week was like two lousy shows? Glad the producers finally figured out what a gold mine they were dealing with!
