It’s very sultry and sexy!!! I can see why it was left off. I know he can’t have every song on it, but it makes me wonder what other great tracks we are missing.

Yes Frank Sinatra and Adam Ant, exactly will! If anyone can do it is live and make it work it is Adam, that is why there is the synth tracks, and hopefully he will have some good backing vocalists for his tour.

I rather like this song, but the arrangement is so over produced that it camouflages too much of Adam’s voice. Use fluff like that for singers who need it. Adam doesn’t! Now, maybe a cleaner version of it…

This song makes me fill like I’m in a bar/club in Europe for some reason. So I guess agree with Adam that it has a different vibe. Not bad though.

Adam said it was their thinking that Voodoo did not fit with the rest of the songs on the album. BS! Loaded Smile doesn’t fit and I would have taken Voodoo in it’s place!

Why do they have to overproduce this so much? Its why I don’t like European dance music – makes it sound so repetitive .
I think this will be another song of Adams that will sound better live with his band backing him!!

I really hate electropop, a lot of it is repetitive, stupid, and pointless (Seriously, don’t ever talk to me about Lady GaGa or Ke$sha, we might kill each other…. unless we’re talking about Speechless, Paparazzi, or Telephone, but that’s another story), but Adam makes it work for him. There’s something about his brand of electropop (at least most of it) that has some sort of strong ambience to it that other electro artists lack. Like, it takes me out of this world. Granted, it does get bland at times (more often than actual non-techno music), but Adam paints a picture with many of his songs. Voodoo is no exception. Granted, I haven’t heard the lyrics to hear if they’re any good or not >_>. But it reminds me of Broken Open/Mad World, some of my favorites of his, while combining a dance feel to it. Probably because I used to play video games a lot, but sometimes when I picture an Adam Lambert song, I think of a video game that really immerses you in its environments.

That, and I haven’t heard his (IMO obnoxious) wail lately. When he’s hitting his glory notes, I don’t get the feeling that he’s screaming them any more.

My only worry is IF this song’s lyrics are about as shallow as If I Had You or Fever. I mean, to be honest, Adam only really hits me when he does something that tickles the emotions deeply or sings from the heart. It leaves me disappointed when he stays too shallow. I don’t hate If I Had You or Fever (I rather like both songs), but the lyrics are like “….so what?”

I really don’t like “IIHY” I know I’ve said it before, but not only does he not do what made people love him on this cd… and use that range.. which he’s done his whole life… why stop now, but I just can’t get into most the songs on this cd.. but I love the ones I do get into… Voodoo’s cool.. can’t wait to hear the others.

Unique sound. I agree it doesn’t really “fit,” if you will, the US release. I also agree that I’d trade one or two of the album tracks for it — Loaded Smile, Soaked (I know, blasphemy!) Personal preference, please don’t throw things.

Of course, I’d also trade for Master Plan and DTRH… I tend to like Bonus tracks, I guess!

And there’s another homage to Bowie here! On Labrynth (the movie where D.B. plays king of thr goblins), Bowie sings a song called Dance Magic Dance, where he also plays with the words “voodoo” and “you do”… but that’s about the only similarity between the two songs!

Edit: Okay so I just saw Wills post about Sinatra and Adam Ant using Voodoo that you do as well… so I guess even Bowie was homaging others, lol!

I’m mighty proud of Adam so far for co-writing Broken Open, Down the Rabbit Hole, Pick U Up and Voodoo. They are really good songs!

I like the tune, it’s a club song and not a radio song. There is one minus, though: with the layered production, the song could be basically have been sung by anyone. These is no distinctive Adam-voice.

I wouldn’t have wanted the song in the place of any in the CD (well, maybe in the place of Time For Miracles or even Aftermath), but I’m happy that it will be included in the UK version that I have pre-ordered.

Can you release singles for dance clubs? Do you do that by getting remixes of them and send them out to DJ’s? Because this track should definetely follow FYE on the dance chart. I’ve listened to all the WWFM remixes and they just don’t feel like very good dance track compare to this and FYE.

Not Strut. My daughters would revolt. I like the song but I can see why it was left off. It hides his vocals too much. I wouldn’t have been happy with a whole CD of this type of music (not really hearing his voice well), but as a one of song, I really like it.

I agree with that…but i think TfM was included as US bonus bc of the movie (I flove TfM – have always been a fan of that particular type of cheese). I like Voodoo, but it is not one of my favorites. It is definitely a dance/club track and I can see why it wasn’t included on the US release. Much more appropriate for the US remix EP and for the international versions. But, yet another good track put together by adam and his team. i am really impressed by the overall quality of his post idol output and that there is nothing that he has put out that i really hate (which is rare for me, regardless of the artist)

That interview was hilarious. American interviews always (for lack of a better word) suck, when compared to out of country ones. The one with the DJ’s yesterday was good too. I spit my pop out when he said…”My tits aren’t big enough” when the web cam guy cut him off. If I had to replace a song from his album with Voodoo, I would’ve replaced Strut, Pick U Up, or maybe A Loaded Smile. Strut is awful, I admittedly have never really listened to Pick U Up because it doesn’t pick me up, and A Loaded Smile is kinda boring for one of his ballads, it’s very electronic and kinda TOO video game sounding. Now that I think about it, his album is like half-hate-half-LOVE. Huh. And I’m just fine with that.

I think Adam gained a bit of weight back =/. In the interview still, his face looks fuller.

Once again, Adam has me really loving a sound/genre I probably would have ignored/skipped with Voodoo. It creates such an amazing atmosphere. (After reading about Sparro a while back, I downloaded and love Black and White…)

For me, it’s just not that deep.

I think the sound, for me, is jarring for where it falls on the album. Or, it’s a mood thing, where I’m all peppy and jamming, and the song starts and snaps me out of my dancing head haze… or something… I feel the same about Soaked, fwiw. (I know, I know, blasphemy.) I guess Broken Open comes late enough to where it represents the falling action after a very satisfying (multi) climax. LOL Cuz I’m good with Broken Open.

Did you guys see AO has that Adam is doing an “unexpected cover” on his unplugged show? I was thinking WLL, just a shorter version. Maybe hoping is more like it. Acoustic WLL on a big screen TV, not sure I could handle it.

The only song I don’t care for on Adam’s album (I don’t hate it) is Aftermath. I also love LS and I don’t think it is sentimental crap but rather sophisticated and I can understand why some people don’t like it. I also think it is sexy. However, I freakin’ looooove Voodoo. It just gives a moody sexy vibe and is just different than what you hear everyday. I know Adam’s vocal abilities are somewhat masked but the breathy vocals are what suit the song. Not every song Adam does has the bombastic wails. I think that would get old if that were the case. Ok, back to listen again!

I’m actually surprised how much I like it.

Imagine they make this song into a music video….moonshine, swamp, snake, potion, witch/vampire, and one helpless, hopeless, lovesick Adam!

I like Voodoo. I’m not usually drawn to heavy synthetic production like this, and like some others here I wish that his vocals weren’t quite so buried, but Adam definitely creates a cool vibe with this song, it’s got a good melody with interesting lyrics, and it has some very nice musical moments tucked into it. I think it’s going to keep growing on me.

After careful listening I agree with bridget above that the lyric is definitely “Now I’m lost in a love hangover” rather than “Now I’m lost and our love ain’t over.” Also, he definitely says “hex” rather than “hands” in “I just gotta say I want your hex” and “I don’t wanna live without your hex.”

And I loved the interview with Natalie from SYTYCDA. They had a great rapport and she asked interesting questions. He is so excited about Mardi Gras! He was genuinely embarrassed that he didn’t know her last name, but did a nice ninja roll with it and landed on his feet. And his remark that he wants “to be big down under… err not saying that I’m not… and I want you to be big up over… oh was that inappropriate?”– just hilarious. This guy continues to crack me up.

Finally, Adam has had his first chance to “explain” his comments about SuBo in a video interview. I though he handled it well.

Can’t remember if this has been posted so doing in anyway! It’s seems to be clearer than the recording above…well at least on my earphones.

Not me. I think it’s a stunning piece of musicianship. But, then, I think Linda Perry is one of the best song writers out there. And that’s why I like Adam’s album. One mans’ “I hate that song!” is another man’s “Wow, I could listen to this forever.”

I agree that A Loaded Smile fits on the album, I just don’t like it. Aftermath and TFM seemed most out of placed when I listened through the album the first couple of times but now I kinda like Aftermath (I hated it first). I like the really shrill vocals of Adam and Alisan. It’s like some perverse fascination with nails on a chalkboard or something…

Voodoo should be released as the next dance track (not radio)!!! Summer DJ’s will love it.

Adam has song writing credits on Broken Open, Voodoo, Pick U Up, Aftermath, Strut, Down the Rabbit Hole, and Can’t Let You Go. (which has been described as having an indie sound) These songs are all over the place musically. Adam sure is a multi-talented singer/songwriter!

Adam better be careful with the indie songs, though. Next thing you know- people will be referring to him as “organic”.

Wow. When I first listened to Adams album I wasn’t totally on board with his sound. I am more of a rock oriented type of music listener and was disappointed he didn’t go in that vein. I grew up in the 80′s listening to Madonna, Michael Jackson plus bands like Heart, Pat Benatar ect. So I love dance music and rock. Adam has somehow combined both of these styles along with Pop and almost modern Disco. His sound is totally unique, and I LOVE it now. This song is just amazing and his vocals are haunting. I love the throbbing beat and sort of dark feel it has. I can’t wait to see what he does on his next album.

Wow. When I first listened to Adams album I wasn’t totally on board with his sound. I am more of a rock oriented type of music listener and was disappointed he didn’t go in that vein. I grew up in the 80’s listening to Madonna, Michael Jackson plus bands like Heart, Pat Benatar ect. So I love dance music and rock. Adam has somehow combined both of these styles along with Pop and almost modern Disco. His sound is totally unique, and I LOVE it now. This song is just amazing and his vocals are haunting. I love the throbbing beat and sort of dark feel it has. I can’t wait to see what he does on his next album.

I am going to get a lot of flack for saying this but I totally agree. To me Adam has done something new with his album and that is to combine rock elements with dance beats. I know you guys say he hasn’t really done anything new but I am not seeing this combination anywhere else.

But I remember that interview with Jim when Adam mentioned maybe a soundtrack and frankly Adam isn’t that good of an actor, lol I thought he was hinting back then, I’m probably projecting

I’m with you. The reality is that the odds are against, more so than for an inclusion. Thats ok, we can dream. Stranger things have happened like T4M. I did to a quick search on any hint dropping in the news. The only thing I came up with is that Muse was dropped from the sound track list for this go around. So now I’m hoping that they made room for a different ‘big’ voice.

And that’s why I like Adam’s album. One mans’ “I hate that song!” is another man’s “Wow, I could listen to this forever.”

Let the flogging begin, because I actually don’t care for Voodoo. In it’s appropriate place, such as a Twilight or Bond track I think it would be great, but not as a regular play on my ipod.

It’s fun that we all love Adam to pieces, but we all love different pieces of Adam’s work. I love the glammy/rocky pieces the most. Upbeat dancey is nice too.

I heard it playing at the concert in Indio before the opening act took the stage. I thought I heard it again on youtube(?) or maybe it was somewhere else….somebody taped it from the audience. When I get a minute I’ll check around. It was okay…it didn’t grab me or anything. If I recall, it was kind of a mellow, sort of pop song. No vocal moments that reached out and grabbed you that I heard. It was loud in there though, so I could have missed part of it.

His Broken Open from Fantasy Springs is so gorgeous. I can’t wait to hear him sing it on VH1 unplugged. I just wish we had some hint about the mysterious cover song he did. It’s like waiting for Tuesday’s when he was on Idol wondering what he will be singing.

Adam has song writing credits on Broken Open, Voodoo, Pick U Up, Aftermath, Strut, Down the Rabbit Hole, and Can’t Let You Go. (which has been described as having an indie sound) These songs are all over the place musically. Adam sure is a multi-talented singer/songwriter!

Excellent point. Hadn’t really thought about it until you just listed them out. Greg Wells loves him and said he was very talented song-writer. I hope they can work together again in the future.

Mary 102….I think he will be in Melbourne Australia on Tuesday morning the 9th. That afternoon or evening he’s off to Hong Kong…On Friday the 12th he’s doing a private concert at a new casino in Singapore called Resorts World Sentasa (or something like that). By invitation only. Saturday the 13th he’ll have an autograph session in Singapore. Then I believe later that week..he will arrive in the UK on the 18th..that’s about as far as I’ve heard. Not sure when He’s returning. I’m sure many radio promo’s in-between all this stuff.
Now like someone else said…if we can get him outta Australia and that Mardi Gras party….yikes!!

Just want to add…after all this fun and traveling and meeting people and singing and partying, I’ll bet he’ll be saying “there’s no place like home”.

Funny. My thought was that after traveling outside the US and seeing how more accepting and less judgemental people are, we may never get him back.

I didn’t love Voodoo the first time I listened but I love it more & more each time. A great song just keeps growing on you.

So far he is certainly having a successful promo tour! I hope we get to see his performance at Mardi Gras.

FYE album just went on sale in Australia yesterday so of course the album hadn’t sold much. FYE album is #4 Pop Album today on Australia’s Itunes and #8 overall.

being shallow here…..someone mentioned a few pages back that it looked like Adam gained some weight. I think in some shots he looks really skinny skinny and others not so much. But he is such a cameleon…and the camera angles….and his hairstyle, the lighting..the wide screen shots…all contribute to his changing look. Which in my opinion is out of this world gorgeous!!

Am curious on how the album signing went at HUM. Guess we’ll know in a few hours. And yes….please someone get us some youtubes of the show!! Am I correct..8am Sydney time? Who stays up at a party that “late”. All I can compare this is when Hendrix closed Woodstock early in the morning and thousands of people had left or fell asleep. But I guess when you’re young you can par-tay forever!!

I’m happy they like him too! It usually takes a little while before sales momentum builds and with Adam going there they started promoting him more and people who did not watch American Idol had to be introduced to him. Well, that is happening in a big way now.

Wow, good news and new developments are pouring in from all over the place. What a week for Adam (and for us Adam fans who can barely keep up with it all)! I love the sense of momentum that’s building. It’s going to be quite a month I think.

I just love the image I have in my head of Adam fans around the world sitting expectantly at our computers tomorrow waiting for the first videos and tweetpics from Mardi Gras to show up so that we can see him in all of his glittery, fierce, wild fabulosity. Should be a hoot to see what look he’s come up with.

Just ran across this link on Twitter… It’s a blog post from a reporter who interviewed Adam in Sydney for Sky TV News. Fun read for an Adam fan. She describes her impressions and experience of interviewing him. Not surprisingly, she found him “really really ridiculously good looking,” “completely honest and generous with his responses,” cheeky, brave, humble, and “exceptionally polite and very gracious.” Hmmm, sounds like Adam was 100% himself!
