X Factor UK Season 9: Bootcamp Episode 1

We made it to bootcamp! Now with Xtra Factor videos!

It’s. Time. For. A. Bloodbath. Err. Bootcamp.

The judges will have only 72 hours to aXe the majority of 211 acts that made it this far. At the beginning, season 5’s JLS will give the noobs a pep talk. And then the 4 judges will immediately send a third of the acts home. Fun, isn’t it?

The axe factor: Judges treat contestants to a pep talk from JLS at bootcamp before sending a third of the acts home (and they don’t even get a chance to sing)
They were delighted at being sent through to bootcamp during their first audition on the X Factor.

But on tonight’s episode viewers will watch a third of the 211 acts axed from the competition – before they have even had chance to sing.

Judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh send a large number of the wannabes home without hearing them perform.

4 judges. 211 acts. Bootcamp. Liverpool. 72 hours. Party! With JLS! Meanwhile, the judges are deciding who is going home.

Day 1: The contestants gather on the stage of Liverpool arena. The judges arrive and announce who is through to the next round.

Round 2: Sing off. The remaining acts are split into small groups and they have to pick their songs from a short list of songs.

Day 2: Sing off. The judges arrive while acts rehearse backstage.

Group 1 features Essex girl Amy Mottram. Girls sing Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger”. Amy makes it, the other two girls are gone.

Long line of girls from various groups sing Aretha’s “Respect”. They all get through.

Jahmene Douglas + two other guys sing Maroon 5’s “Moves like Jagger”. Jahmene sang “At Last” for his audition. He screws up this time, but the judges let him through.

Next, two boybands: GMD3 and Triple J. Both sing “Moves like Jagger”. The judges are impressed.

Two girlbands sing “Stronger”, one is cut.

Two more boybands, (trios) make it through after murdering “Crazy in Love”.

MK1 (duo) rap with another mixed group (trio). MK1 makes it through.

Lucy Spraggan‘s group is next. Lucy is only used to singing with her guitar. She sings “Moves Like Jagger” with two other chicks. Lucy is totally out of her comfort zone. The other two girls are sent home, but the judges keep Lucy.

More failed auditions. Jason Viet Tien is out.

Boyband Rough Copy and mixed group Mitsotu both make it through.

Joseph Whelan makes it to the next round.

James Arthur, Curtis Godlen and James Vickery perform The Fray’s “How to Save a Life”, they all make it to the next round

Rylan Clark‘s group murder’s “Respect”, but the judges let the three divas to the next round.

Remember Tammy from last week? Her audition was amazing, but she dropped out of the competition for personal reasons. The remaining two ladies from her group sing “Stronger”. First time, they skip Tammy’s parts, the second time they somehow sing most of the song and make it through.

Don’t drink before your bootcamp performance!

Through: Carolynne Poole, Melanie Masson, Kye Sones, Christopher Maloney

Robbie Hance, Adam Burridge, Jake Quickenden: Homeless man Robbie didn’t want to rehearse with the other two; instead he slept on the couch. Robbie doesn’t know the words, he leaves the stage before the other two finish the performance. Robbie is out.

Tomorrow, the remaining acts will perform in front of the audience.
