X Factor UK Headlines for 11/05/17

Zayn Malik covers Billboard, Saara Aalto is in talks to represent the UK at Eurovision.

Zayn Opens Up About Conquering Anxiety, Prepping Album No. 2 — and Why He’s Been Living on a Farm
There aren’t many places in New York, or anywhere else for that matter, that feel as cocooned from the outside world as the live room in Electric Lady’s Studio A. Designed to Jimi Hendrix’s specifications, the curvy space is stocked with shiny vintage gear, faded Persian rugs and a cosmic, wall-sized mural. On this Sunday night in September, a little after 9 p.m., the room’s sole occupant is a slight, strikingly handsome 24-year-old, whose unique combination of global fame and acute anxiety can make life outside of insulated creative oases like this one challenging, and who is currently kicked back on an overstuffed leather sofa, pulling meditatively from a joint and watching the smoke curl toward the sound-deadened ceiling.

Boyband Harry Styles takes country music in one direction… bland: CHRISTOPHER STEVENS reviews last night’s TV
The BBC is clueless about pop music and always has been. Ever since the Beatles teased presenter Brian Matthew for his posh accent on Saturday Club in the Sixties, Auntie has been hopelessly cloth-eared.
The hour-long, one-off music special, Harry Styles At The BBC (BBC1), was in the Beeb’s worst pop tradition. It was sycophantic, cheesy, slow and embarrassing.
Harry, if you don’t know the name, was the cheeky chappie in the manufactured boy band One Direction. These days, at the mature age of 23, he’s a solo artist who plays country-tinged melodic rock.

‘Give her a bit of space’: Harry Styles urges concert-goers to step back as he stops London gig to help fan having a panic attack… after sending queuing fans pizza and hot chocolate
He delighted his hordes of loyal fans during his first two solo gigs in London this week.
And Harry Styles displayed his caring side on stage, as he paused his first gig at Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo to help a young fan having a panic attack during his set on Sunday.
The former One Direction star, 23, was in the midst of an acoustic number when he noticed a concert-goer having trouble in the crowd and stopped mid-performance, urging others in the crowd to give the fan ‘some space’ so she could be helped by security staff.

‘I haven’t been hit straight on with one yet’: Harry Styles discusses that embarrassing stage stumble on a kiwi… as ASDA ban sales of the fruit for under-25s ahead of his Manchester gig
On Monday, he slipped on a kiwi fruit during the second night of his UK tour as he performed his hit by the same name.
And now Harry Styles, 23, admitted that he has yet to be pelted by the fruit in question during the song as he opened up about the stumble at the Hammersmith Apollo which left him grabbing hold of his microphone stand to avoid a full slip-up.
Although fans having been throwing one of his five a day onto the stage, he commented on how Rihanna was left reeling years ago when umbrellas were brought to her concerts by fans to commemorate her 2007 number one hit.

He Style(s)d it out! Harry suffers a SECOND stage tumble during solo gig in Manchester… just days after he fell when a fan lobbed a kiwi at him
He was left red-faced after tripping on a piece of kiwi an overzealous fan had thrown onstage on Monday.
And just days later, Harry Styles suffered yet another embarrassing tumble as he put on an energetic performance of his latest song Kiwi to a 3,500 strong-crowd in Manchester.
Clad in a trademark eye-catching suit, the 23-year-old singer collapsed to the floor while throwing himself around the stage during the Friday night gig.

Niall Horan Defends His Rap Skills to Louis Tomlinson: ‘You Know I Can Spit Bars’
ince the band’s hiatus, any interaction among the members of One Direction is enough to send Twitter into a frenzy. Now solo artist Niall Horan reacted to a comment tweeted by Louis Tomlinson, and the fan reactions and GIFs were aplenty Sunday (Nov. 5).

“I like these little Irish lads but enough with the rapping,” Tomlinson, who’s also been busy releasing his own music, wrote while watching the U.K.’s X Factor Saturday night.

Horan, an Irish lad himself, seemingly took the comment as a personal roast — though his response was more than likely in jest. To the delight of fans everywhere, on Sunday the singer-songwriter clapped back: “Stop talking about me like that, I’ll rap if I want. You know I can spit bars.”

WE CAN FINN EUROVISION X Factor star Saara Aalto in talks to represent Great Britain at next year’s Eurovision
Finnish singer Saara Aalto has revealed that she has been in contact with BBC and they have been urging her to represent the nation
WHENEVER Eurovision rolls around I dread which washed-up star the BBC will choose to represent the nation.

However, bosses behind Team UK are pulling out all the stops this year in a bid to prevent another “nul points” situation.

I can reveal that SAARA AALTO is in talks with the Beeb to represent the UK at next year’s contest in Lisbon, Portugal.

In an exclusive interview, the Finnish singer, who came third on last year’s X Factor, revealed: “There have been talks with the BBC, they really want me to do it.

“I love Eurovision so I have been searching for the right opportunity to be part of it. It’s just whether I should do it for the UK or Finland or some other country. But the UK is my home now.

“It would be quite fun, Eurovision has always been a dream of mine.”

An interview with Spencer Sutherland, X Factor UK’s first American finalist
American audiences are used to seeing British and other international artists performing on Simon Cowell’s U.S. competition series America’s Got Talent, but the reverse hasn’t been true on his series The X Factor—until this season. Spencer Sutherland was the first American contestant to compete as a finalist on the show, and was also the first person voted off once the live shows began.

The X Factor UK also airs in the United States, on AXS TV—Sundays and Mondays at 9 p.m. ET, which is 24 hours after each UK broadcast, though Americans can’t vote in the competition.

When I interviewed him earlier today, Spencer told me he thought his early exit was because other contestants “had really big support systems,” and his fans in the U.S. couldn’t vote for him: “I thought America could vote but I found out the day of my first live show that they could not vote. I just don’t think I had a big support system. I’m just so happy to made it where I did.”

Simon said: “Sometimes we get a reminder that we’re not invincible and this was certainly mine. It was a huge shock.

“They think I fainted because I had low blood pressure and so I have got to really take good care of myself to sort that out.

“After all I am a dad and have more responsibility than ever.”

He was forced to bow out of the X Factor’s first live shows last weekend after he fell down the stairs at his London mansion and suffered a concussion.
Although on the mend following his terrifying slip, Simon Cowell, 58, couldn’t escape being the butt of numerous jokes on Saturday night’s show as host Dermot O’Leary, 44, playfully teased him about his accident.
After introducing the judges to their seats and asking them about this week’s Viva Latino theme, Dermot hilariously mocked Simon about his fall as he asked him to introduce his first act, Jack and Joel, to the stage.

We’re worried about The X Factor – the changes aren’t working and it’s time we talked about it
Is there only one road left to take?
Is anyone else starting to worry about The X Factor? Ratings are bad at the minute. Really bad. Don’t get us wrong, it’s still beating shows like Love Island and TOWIE, but to put things into perspective, Simon Cowell and the gang used to draw in more than 14 million per episode. Last weekend, which marked the first of the live shows and the first eliminations of the series, just 4.3 million live viewers tuned in. That’s a drop of almost 70%.

Sharon Osbourne’s convinced she knows what the problem is: ”Things have changed – younger kids are on their computers all day and all night,” she explained on The One Show last week. “Times move on, times change.”
