X Factor Final: Who Will Win? Poll Results and Predictions

THE X FACTOR: Top 3 Perform: Melanie Amaro performs on THE X FACTOR Dec. 21 (8:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. THE X FACTOR Finale airs Wed., Dec. 21 and Thurs., Dec. 22 on FOX. CR: Ray Mickshaw / FOX.

Here are the results of the X Factor poll:

Who Should Win X Factor?

  1. Melanie Amaro 57.53%
  2. Josh Krajcik 27.55%
  3. Chris Rene 14.93%

Who WILL Win X Factor?

  1. Melanie Amaro  53.41%
  2. Chris Rene  26.49%
  3. Josh Krajicik  20.1%

Commenters clearly agree that Melanie Amaro both SHOULD win and WILL win X Factor.   Chris Rene and Josh Krajcik swap places in the poll.   Chris comes in a distant 3rd as the person who SHOULD win, but comes in second as the person who WILL win.

Odds makers are putting Melanie in 1st place.

I do think Melanie deserves to win of the three remaining contestants, with Josh a close second.  Neither have been terribly exciting or original as contestants, but they’ve both been consistently solid all season. Chris Rene has some talent. He’s not a great singer, but has musical and songwriting chops. He also has charisma. But his performances have been uneven.

Having said that, I think Chris, with his hip hop stylings,  has the best chance of mainstream success of the three.  Melanie and Josh have not shown themselves to be other than Adult Contemporary types.  I can see the possibility of Melanie being transformed into a Beyonce type. But that remains to be seen if this young church singer with the ever changing accent (heh) can be dressed for success on today’s pop charts.   I can’t see Josh getting anywhere near the pop charts. The best hope for him would be an AC album that resonates with the type of folks who buy Susan Boyle and Michael Buble records.

But, who is the most marketable is neither here nor there, as far as I’m concerned.  May the best competitor win, and let TPTB sort it out in the aftermath. They are going to market whom they want regardless.

Who do I think will win?  Boy. I really don’t know how to call this one.  Josh seems like the underdog. But he appeals to older viewers, who frankly, I think are the viewers who bother to vote in these contests–he could take it.   Chris has a very organized and committed fan base.  Could they pull out a win for him?  And Melanie has been impressive with her big vocals.  Her performance last night was killer. But I think committed voters have already made up their minds by the time the final rolls around.  The ratio between committed and casual voters could be crucial for Melanie.  Committed will vote for their favs, no matter what, the casual will vote for last night’s performance.   Melanie probably loses the former, but wins the latter.

So, uhm. Enie, meanie minie moe?  Since the odds makers love Melanie, I’m going with her.  Let’s see if a girl can finally win a singing competition after several years of victorious boys  (In the US, it was Jordin Sparks in 2007).
