Tonight, The Voice UK 2018 heads into THE LAST WEEK of the Blind Auditions on iITV 1! Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am return to the coaches panel. Joining them is newbie the X Factor UK’s Olly Murs. With host Emma Willis.

There are only five spots left. Get ready for a bunch of no turn auditions…

Scarlett Quigley – 19 – Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom of The Opera – She works in a B&B waiting tables, cleaning rooms–the whole bit. Her grandmother entered her into the competition. She’s an opera singer. They’ve already got their token opera singer. Nobody is going to turn for this. OH WAIT JENNIFER TURNED. She’s got the OTHER opera singer. Huh. Obvious set up for the Blind auditions. At the last minute, Tom and Will hit their buttons. Jennifer is impressed that she started at 12. Will thinks she has an old soul. He’s not really fighting for her though. Unsurprisingly, Scarlett picks the singer who actually behaved like she wanted her. Jennifer has one spot left. Scarlett Picks Team Jennifer

Maria Le Belle – 34 – Ghetto Story by Babycham Ft Alicia Keys / Sean Paul – She’s a full time mother from Birmingham. She’s been working day jobs her whole life while trying to make it in the music business. Whoo boy. She’s performing the rap parts as well as the melody. It’s a little jarring actually. Tom says, “I like it.” But in the end, he holds off. Jennifer noted that the melody was pitchy (yes). She was clearly unimpressed. Poor girl has been at the music business for years. Got to give her credit for not giving up. – No Turns

Nandi – 29 – Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer – She moved from Zimbabwe to London and graduated from university. Currently, she’s a PA and account assistant. OW. She’s underpitch through the whole song and her phrasing is horrible. This is unpleasant. So amateur. Why are these terrible auditions even making it to air? OMG WILL TURNS FOR HER AT THE LAST MINUTE. WTF. That high note she hit at the end made up for nothing. They turned down much better singers in prior sessions. – Team Will Chooses Nandi

Will’s team is full!

Sand & Stone (Tom & Abi Dixon) – 25 & 21 – I Will Wait by Mumford & Sons – The two are a brother and sister duet. The whole family are outdoor types. Their harmonies are shaky. The blend should be much better. The dude especially is pitchy. Jennifer does the “eh” sign with her hand. Nope. – No Turns

Harri Oakland – 18 – Say You Won’t Let Go by James Arthur – Unemployed, he lives with his mother and step dad. He hasn’t been singing long, and only karaoke, mostly. Welp. He missed his cue. Then he sang in several off key muppet voices. And then, inexplicably, Jennifer hits her button. HE WAS TERRIBLE. Is this the “let’s choose our cannon fodder” episode. She says he has a few things to work on. “Great potential,” she says and begins coaching him right away. She has him sing the first verse again, but slower. When he goes off key, she stops him. HE’S NOT READY YET. Will warns Harri that he’s about to go to work. Like the Rihanna song, only worse. – Team Jennifer picks Harri

Jennifer’s Team is full.

Kalon Rae – 30 – Only You by Yazoo – He moved to London 10 years ago from southern Italy. He does not have an Italian accent. He’s a vocal coach…when he’s not being totally fabulous. His phrasing is good and he sings with confidence. Somebody should turn for him. Plus he’s got a great personality. He’ll be fun on the show. Tom hits his button. If the coaches would have let that one go after today’s cruddy picks. I mean. Team Tom picks Kalon

Tom’s team is full. Ollie is the only remaining coach with a spot.

Lekenah Eccles – 27 – No Scrubs by TLC – She’s a full time mum. She sings in a fake island accent and needs to stop that. Otherwise, she’s OK. She’s got a good voice, but her style is affected. Olly. Not impressed – No Turns

Sammi J – 29 – Fever by Peggy Lee – She’s a busker. We only see a snip of her performance. There’s lots of growling and high notes. Olly not digging it – No Turns

Navi Chahal – 20 – Frozen by Madonna – It’s a veritable warble fest! Bye girl – No Turns

There are only two more singers. So if Olly doesn’t pick this one, he’s stuck with the last one. Olly is totally stressed. Or pretending that he is for the narrative.

Aimee Fitzpatrick – 22 – Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus – She set up her own Youtube channel and it became very popular. Olly is hesitating. She sounds very young and a little scared. This is being played up as tragic, but not really. She should probably come back next year.

Olly has to choose the next one, apparently. But I guess we’re going through the motions.

Debbie Aramide – 29 – Love is a Losing Game by Amy Winehouse – She’s a backing vocalist and singer/songwriter. She does NOT come from a musical family. Oh. She’s a professional. She writes songs for Pitbull, Toni Braxton and more. Well played producers. Save the ringer vocalist for “last.” It reminds me of The US Voice season 12 when Alicia’s last pick was Chris Blue. And then he won. Don’t think that was a coincidence (Yes, I’m cynical). – Team Olly picks Debbie
