When The Voice UK premieres Saturday on ITV it will kick off with a rousing performance of the Queen/David Bowie song “Under Pressure” performed by the four coaches, Jennifer Hudson, Gavin Rossdale, will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones.
American Idol season 3 singer Jennifer Hudson makes a diva entrance, dazzling the audience with a dramatic glory note! Check it out here.
Gavin and Jennifer will make their coach’s debut when the show premieres at 8 PM GMT/3 PM ET on ITV (same bat channel, same bat time as X Factor UK!). However, it will be a reunion for will.i.am and Sir Tom, who sat in the big red chairs together for four seasons of the singing show.
The BBC unceremoniously dropped Sir Tom for the fifth season, with ITV re-signing him for season six. He’s still made about that, by the way.
Meanwhile, Jennifer told the Daily Star that she plans to be ruthless. “I’m going to take their necks off… watch!” she said, “People want a battle and I agree.”
She added: “Will is my biggest competitor because he is so good at this show.
“Will is competitive when he does turn around. He’s the hardest one to get to turn around, but when he sees someone he wants he’s going to get them. And then Tom, he’s the big dog.”
As a former reality show contestant, Jennifer finds it hard to turn hopefuls down.
“For me it is difficult to turn people down because I know what it’s like,” she said. “I want to send everybody through. I would, I really would.
“Even when I don’t pick them I’m fussing at the others and saying, ‘Push the button.’ That’s because if I don’t push the button it’s probably not because I don’t like you.
“It should be fair game and I feel like you should go to the best hands. If I can encourage the others I would.”
The Voice UK has added a new twist for season 6: Acts who fail to get any turns won’t see the coaches or be offered any feedback.
