The Voice 17 Recap: Live Finale Top 4 Perform (Live Blog VIDEO)

REMEMBER: On tomorrow’s results show (Dec 17), The Voice will crown its 17th winner.  Starting at 8 pm ET/PT NBC will air a The Voice clip show. The two hour finale begins at 9 pm ET/PT.

I don’t think there were any big moments on tonight’s finale. At least, nothing that really FELT like a moment to me. Maybe some of you disagree?

Last week’s “Desperado” from Jake Hoot and “Let it Be” by Ricky Duran seemed to land more meaningfully. Ricky and Jake take the top spots again this week, however. (Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani’s “Nobody But You” is hogging the No. 2 position at the moment). Although, it’s notable that Jake doesn’t chart with a solo until No. 5. And OK I was wrong! Jake’s self-penned original “Better Off Without You” is charting higher than his cover, “Amazed,” but not by much! Unless a finalist is a very good songwriter, they should stick with the professionals. Singing his own song hurt Jake’s standings this week. But he’ll probably win anyway, so might as well get his own stuff in front of the public, I guess.

Meanwhile, Katie Kadan’s original “All Better” is charting higher at No. 4. than Jake’s. As it SHOULD be. John handed her the best song of the four, in my opinion. Although, his envy seems to be on the money. He predicted that Ricky’s original would chart the highest, and welp. There it sits at No. 1. However, Ricky’s Tom Petty cover is charting at only No. 30. Like I said, the song is great, but not a vocal showcase.

I am a little surprised that Rose Short’s pimp spot performance, “Border Song” didn’t crack the Top 40. That was her best performance tonight. She doesn’t appear on the chart until No 12 with her original, “Steamroller.” It’s a decent placement for a song that’s total week sauce. Gwen Stefani really screwed Rose over with her song picks.  Rose’s duet with Gwen, “My Gift Is You,” tanks at No. 87, and I’m not surprised at all. A generous coach chooses a song that suits the artist, and then serves as support throughout the performance. Instead, Gwen chose a song she wrote and proceeded to hog the stage. Boo.

iTunes Chart (3:20 am):
