The Voice 9 – Knockout Rounds #1 – Take the Polls!

You watched the first night of the Knockout Rounds, now take the polls! Who were your favorite contestants, matchups and more. Vote for your favorites.

For me, there were a couple of surprises. For instance, I did not expect Ivonne Acero to outsing Chance Pena. I don’t remember Madi Davis being SO good (Her Battle Round was montaged, so that didn’t help.)  Blaine Mitchell also impressed in a way he hadn’t before.  I don’t believe any singer was robbed tonight, including Chance Pena, who had impressed me earlier. He chose the wrong song at an important time, unfortunately.

Rihanna dished out more vocal tips than I was expecting. She’s not one of the better pop singers, but she obviously works hard on what she has. The advice she gave out to each singer tended to be a variation on the same thing: Be bold, commit, live the part, be engaged. Her advice boiled down to connecting to the material and the audience. And being fearless. Not bad advice, really. Also, Rihanna has a joie de vivre that’s fun to watch.

We’ll be back tomorrow night, with another hour of The Voice Knockouts at 9/8c pm. In the meantime. VOTE.
